In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Kind.

1. Hasn't there been a time when the human being was nothing worth mentioning?

2. We created the human from a tiny mixed drop, testing him, and gave him hearing and sight.

3. We showed him the right path — he may be thankful or ungrateful.

4. We have prepared chains, shackles, and blazing fire for those who reject the truth.

5. But the good people will drink from cups mixed with cool, refreshing camphor.

6. A spring where Allah's servants will drink, making it flow freely wherever they wish.

7. They keep their promises, and they fear a day whose harm will spread far and wide.

8. And they give food — though they love it themselves — to the poor, the orphan, and the captive.

9. Saying, "We feed you only for Allah's sake; we don't want any reward or thanks from you.

10. We fear from our Lord a day of gloom and hardship."

11. So Allah will protect them from the harm of that day, and grant them brightness and joy.

12. And because they were patient, He will reward them with Paradise and silk clothing.

13. There they'll relax on soft couches, feeling neither burning sun, nor bitter cold.

14. The shade will be close above them, and fruit will hang low, easy to pick.

15. Silver dishes and crystal-clear cups will be passed around among them.

16. Crystal-clear cups made of silver, perfectly measured.

17. They'll be given a drink mixed with ginger.

18. From a spring there called Salsabeel.

19. Young servants, forever youthful, will move around them — when you see them, you'll think they're scattered pearls.

20. Wherever you look there, you'll see blessings and a great kingdom.

21. They'll wear fine green silk clothes and rich brocade, adorned with silver bracelets, and their Lord will give them a pure, refreshing drink.

22. "This is your reward, and your efforts have been truly appreciated."

23. We have sent down the Quran to you, step by step.

24. So be patient with your Lord's decision, and don't obey any sinner or disbeliever among them.

25. Remember your Lord's name morning and evening.

26. And during the night, bow down to Him, and praise Him for a long part of the night.

27. These people love the quick pleasures of this world, leaving behind them a heavy day.

28. We created them, and made them strong, and if We wish, We can easily replace them with others like them.

29. This is a reminder — whoever wishes can take the path toward their Lord.

30. But you cannot wish, unless Allah wills it. Allah is truly Knowing and Wise.

31. He admits whoever He wills into His mercy, but for those who do wrong, He has prepared a painful punishment.
