In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Kind.
1. The Sure Truth!
2. What is the Sure Truth?
3. And how could you know what the Sure Truth is?
4. Thamud and Aad denied the Striking Disaster.
5. As for Thamud, they were destroyed by a fierce blast.
6. And Aad — they were destroyed by a violent, roaring wind.
7. He unleashed it against them for seven nights, and eight days straight. You could see them lying there, fallen, like hollow palm trees.
8. Can you see any trace of them left now?
9. Pharaoh, those before him, and the overturned cities — they all committed terrible sins.
10. They disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a powerful punishment.
11. When the waters rose high, We carried you safely in the floating ship.
12. To make it a lesson for you, and so attentive ears would remember it.
13. Then, when the Trumpet is blown — a single blast.
14. And the earth and mountains are lifted and crushed, with one mighty blow.
15. On that Day, the Great Event will surely happen.
16. The sky will split apart, becoming weak.
17. Angels will stand at its edges, and eight angels will carry your Lord's Throne above them, on that Day.
18. On that Day, you'll all be presented — nothing about you will stay hidden.
19. As for the one given his record in his right hand, he will say happily, "Here, read my record!
20. I was sure I'd face my judgment!"
21. He'll enjoy a joyful life.
22. In a high, beautiful Garden.
23. With fruits hanging close within easy reach.
24. They'll be told, "Eat and drink happily, as a reward for the deeds you did in days gone by."
25. But as for the one given his record in his left hand, he'll cry out, "I wish I'd never been given my record!
26. I wish I'd never known my judgment!
27. If only death had been the end of me!
28. My money can't help me now.
29. My authority is gone."
30. It will be said, "Grab him and chain him up.
31. Then throw him into the blazing fire.
32. Then tie him tightly with a chain seventy arms long.
33. He didn't believe in Allah, the Most Great.
34. And he never encouraged feeding the poor.
35. Today he has no caring friend here.
36. And no food except filthy waste.
37. Which only the wrongdoers eat."
38. I swear by everything you can see.
39. And everything you cannot see.
40. This Quran is truly the word brought by a noble messenger.
41. It's not the word of a poet — how little you believe!
42. Nor is it the word of a fortune-teller — how little you remember!
43. It is sent down from the Lord of all creation.
44. If he had made up even a few words about Us.
45. We would have seized him strongly.
46. Then cut off his lifeline.
47. And none of you could have protected him.
48. Truly, this Quran is a reminder for those who are mindful of Allah.
49. And We surely know some of you deny it.
50. It will be a source of deep regret for those who reject the truth.
51. And it is absolutely certain truth.
52. So glorify the name of your Lord, the Most Great!
