In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Kind.

1. O Prophet, why do you forbid yourself something that Allah has allowed for you, seeking to please your wives? Allah is forgiving and merciful.

2. Allah has already made a way for you to get out of your promises. Allah is your protector, and He is the All-Knowing, the Wise.

3. Remember when the Prophet shared a secret with one of his wives. When she told someone else about it, and Allah made it known to him, he mentioned part of it to her, and kept part of it quiet. When he told her about it, she asked, "Who told you this?" He replied, "The All-Knowing, the Fully Aware told me."

4. If you both turn back to Allah, it is because your hearts have turned away. But if you join together against him, remember that Allah is his protector, along with Gabriel, the righteous believers, and the angels who will stand by him.

5. Perhaps, if he divorced you, his Lord would give him wives better than you — women who surrender to Allah, truly believe, are devoted, repentant, worshipful, travelers, previously married, and unmarried.

6. Believers, protect yourselves and your families from a Fire fueled by people and stones, guarded by stern, powerful angels who never disobey Allah's commands, and they always do exactly as they're told.

7. Disbelievers, don't make excuses today. You are only being repaid for what you used to do.

8. Believers, turn back to Allah, with sincere repentance. Your Lord may erase your mistakes, and bring you into gardens with rivers flowing beneath them. On the Day when Allah will not disappoint the Prophet and those who believed with him — their light will shine ahead of them, and on their right side, and they will say, "Our Lord, make our light complete for us, and forgive us. You have power over everything."

9. O Prophet, strive against the disbelievers and the hypocrites, and be firm with them. Their home will be Hell — a terrible place to end up.

10. Allah gives an example for the disbelievers: the wives of Noah and Lot. They were married to two of Our righteous servants, but they betrayed them. Their husbands couldn't help them against Allah at all, and they were told, "Enter the Fire along with those who enter."

11. And Allah gives an example for the believers: Pharaoh's wife, who said, "My Lord, build me a home near You in Paradise, save me from Pharaoh and his evil actions, and save me from the unjust people."

12. And Mary, the daughter of Imran, who guarded her purity, so We breathed into her from Our spirit. She believed in the words of her Lord and His scriptures, and she was one of the truly devoted.
