In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Kind.

1. Prophet, when you divorce women, divorce them at their proper waiting time, and carefully count the waiting period. Be mindful of Allah, your Lord. Do not send them out of their homes, nor should they leave, unless they commit a clear shameful act. These are Allah's limits, and whoever crosses Allah's limits wrongs himself. You never know — perhaps Allah will bring about something new after this.

2. When they reach the end of their waiting time, either keep them kindly, or let them go kindly. Have two fair witnesses from among you, and give honest testimony for Allah. This is advice for anyone who believes in Allah and the Last Day. Whoever stays mindful of Allah, He will make a way out for them.

3. And He will provide for them from places they never expected. Whoever trusts in Allah, He is enough for them. Allah always fulfills His plans. Allah has set a measure for everything.

4. For women who no longer expect their monthly periods — if you're unsure — their waiting time is three months, and the same goes for those who haven't yet had their periods. For pregnant women, their waiting time ends when they deliver their babies. Whoever stays mindful of Allah, He will make things easy for them.

5. This is Allah's command, sent down to you. Whoever stays mindful of Allah, He will erase their mistakes, and greatly reward them.

6. Let them live where you live, according to your means, and don't make things hard for them to pressure them. If they're pregnant, support them financially until they deliver their babies. If they nurse your child, pay them fairly. Discuss things kindly with each other, but if you can't agree, another woman can nurse the child.

7. Let the wealthy spend according to their wealth, and whoever has limited resources should spend from what Allah has given them. Allah never burdens anyone beyond what He has provided. After hardship, Allah will surely bring ease.

8. How many towns ignored the commands of their Lord and His messengers? So We judged them strictly and punished them severely.

9. They tasted the painful results of their actions, and the outcome was total loss.

10. Allah has prepared a severe punishment for them. So be mindful of Allah, you believers with understanding. Allah has sent down to you a Reminder.

11. A Messenger who recites to you Allah's clear verses, to lead those who believe and do good deeds out of darkness and into the light. Whoever believes in Allah and does good, He will bring them into Gardens with rivers flowing beneath, where they will stay forever. Allah has truly prepared the best provision for them.

12. Allah created seven heavens, and the same number of earths. His command comes down between them, so you may know that Allah has power over everything, and that Allah's knowledge surrounds all things.
