In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Kind.

1. When the hypocrites come to you, they say, "We swear you're truly Allah's Messenger." Allah knows you're His Messenger, but Allah also testifies that the hypocrites are lying.

2. They use their promises as a shield, turning others away from Allah's path. What they're doing is truly terrible.

3. That's because they first believed, then rejected faith. So their hearts have been sealed, and now they don't understand.

4. When you see them, their appearance impresses you, and when they speak, you listen carefully. But they're like wooden planks leaning against a wall. They think every shout is against them. They're the real enemy, so be careful of them. May Allah defeat them — how far they've wandered from the truth!

5. When they're told, "Come, and Allah's Messenger will ask forgiveness for you," they turn their heads away. You see them turning back arrogantly.

6. It makes no difference whether you ask forgiveness for them, or not — Allah will never forgive them. Allah doesn't guide those who disobey Him.

7. They're the ones who say, "Don't spend anything on those with Allah's Messenger, so they'll leave him." But the treasures of the heavens and the earth belong to Allah. Yet the hypocrites don't understand.

8. They say, "When we return to the city, the honored ones will definitely drive out the weak." But true honor belongs to Allah, His Messenger, and the believers. Still, the hypocrites don't realize this.

9. Believers, don't let your money or your children distract you from remembering Allah. Whoever does that — they're the ones who truly lose.

10. Give from what We've provided you, before death comes to one of you, and he says, "My Lord, if only You'd give me a little more time, I'd give charity and be one of the good people!"

11. But Allah never delays a soul when its time has come. And Allah is fully aware of everything you do.
