In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Kind.
1. Everything in the heavens and the earth praises Allah, and He is the Mighty, the Wise.
2. He rules over the heavens and the earth. He gives life and causes death, and He has power over everything.
3. He is the First and the Last, the Clear and the Hidden, and He knows everything completely.
4. He created the heavens and the earth in six days, then He rose over the Throne. He knows what goes into the earth, and what comes out of it, what comes down from the sky, and what rises up to it. And He is with you wherever you are. Allah sees everything you do.
5. His is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth, and all things return to Allah.
6. He makes the night blend into the day, and the day blend into the night. He knows exactly what is in your hearts.
7. Believe in Allah and His Messenger, and give from what He has trusted you with. Those of you who believe and give generously, will have a great reward.
8. Why don't you believe in Allah, when the Messenger is inviting you to believe in your Lord, and He has already taken your promise, if you truly believe?
9. He is the One Who sends clear verses down to His servant, to bring you out of darkness into the light. Allah is truly gentle and kind to you.
10. Why don't you spend in Allah's way, when everything in the heavens and the earth will belong to Allah in the end? Those who gave and fought before the victory are not equal to those who gave and fought afterward. The first group has a higher rank, but Allah promises good to everyone. Allah knows exactly what you do.
11. Who will lend Allah a good loan, so He will multiply it greatly for him, and they will have a generous reward?
12. On the Day you see the believing men and women, their light shining ahead of them, and on their right side, they will be told, "Today you have good news — gardens with rivers flowing beneath them, where you will live forever. That is the greatest success!"
13. On that Day, the hypocrite men and women will say to the believers, "Wait for us! Let us take some of your light!" They will be told, "Go back behind you, and look for your own light." Then a wall with a gate will be placed between them. Inside it is mercy, but outside it is punishment.
14. The hypocrites will call out to the believers, "Weren't we with you?" They will reply, "Yes, but you let yourselves be tempted, you waited and doubted, and false hopes deceived you, until Allah's command came. And the great deceiver tricked you about Allah."
15. So today, no ransom will be accepted from you, or from those who disbelieved. Your home is the Fire — it is your ally now. What a terrible place to end up!
16. Isn't it time yet for those who believe to open their hearts humbly to Allah's remembrance, and to the truth He has sent down? Don't be like those who received the Scripture before you — time passed, their hearts grew hard, and many of them turned away from Allah.
17. Know that Allah brings the earth back to life after it has died. We've made these signs clear to you, so you might understand.
18. Those who give in charity — both men and women — and who lend Allah a beautiful loan, He will multiply it for them, and they'll have a generous reward.
19. Those who believe in Allah and His messengers — they are the truthful and the witnesses with their Lord; they will have their reward and their light. But those who disbelieve and deny Our verses — they are the companions of the Hellfire.
20. Know that this worldly life is just play, amusement, decoration, boasting among yourselves, and competition to have more wealth and children. It's like rain that makes plants grow, delighting the farmers — but soon the plants dry up, turning yellow, then crumble away. In the Hereafter, there's severe punishment, but also forgiveness from Allah and His approval. This worldly life is nothing but a temporary illusion.
21. Race toward forgiveness from your Lord, and a Paradise as wide as the heavens and the earth, prepared for those who believe in Allah and His messengers. That's Allah's favor — He gives it to whoever He wills. And Allah is the Owner of great favor.
22. No disaster strikes the earth — or within yourselves — without it already being written in a record, before We bring it into existence. That is easy for Allah.
23. So don't be sad about what you've lost, and don't become proud about what you've been given. Allah doesn't love anyone who's arrogant or boastful.
24. Those who are stingy, and encourage others to be stingy too — whoever turns away — Allah is truly the Rich, the Praiseworthy.
25. We sent Our messengers with clear signs, and We sent down with them the Book and the balance of justice, so that people might uphold justice. And We sent down iron — with its great strength and many benefits for people — so that Allah may know who supports Him and His messengers without seeing Him. Allah is Powerful and Mighty.
26. And We sent Noah and Abraham, and placed among their descendants prophethood and the Book. Some of them were guided, but many of them chose to disobey.
27. Then We sent other messengers following in their footsteps, and We sent Jesus, son of Mary, and gave him the Gospel. And We placed kindness and mercy in the hearts of those who followed him. But the monastic life they invented — we didn't command it for them, except for seeking Allah's pleasure. But even then, they didn't keep it as it should have been kept. So We rewarded those among them who truly believed, but many of them chose to disobey.
28. Believers, be mindful of Allah, and believe in His Messenger. He will give you a double share of His mercy, grant you a light to walk with, and forgive you. Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.
29. So the People of the Book may know that they have no control over any part of Allah's grace, and that all grace is in Allah's Hand — He gives it to whoever He wills. Allah is the Owner of great grace.
