In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Kind.

1. When the great event happens.

2. No one can deny it happened.

3. It will bring some people down, and lift others up.

4. When the earth shakes violently.

5. And the mountains crumble to dust.

6. Becoming scattered like floating sand.

7. You will be divided into three groups.

8. The people on the right — how wonderful are the people on the right!

9. The people on the left — how miserable are the people on the left!

10. And those ahead of everyone else — they're truly ahead!

11. They are the ones closest to Allah.

12. In beautiful gardens of happiness.

13. Many from earlier times.

14. And a few from later times.

15. Resting on decorated couches.

16. Relaxing and facing each other.

17. Young servants who never grow old, will move around them.

18. Offering cups, pitchers, and drinks from a flowing spring.

19. It won't cause them headaches, or make them dizzy.

20. And fruits — whatever they choose.

21. And delicious meat from birds — whatever they desire.

22. And companions with lovely eyes.

23. Like pearls safely kept.

24. A reward for the things they used to do.

25. There, they won't hear any useless talk or harmful words.

26. Only gentle greetings: "Peace, peace!"

27. And the people on the right — how wonderful are the people on the right!

28. They'll be among thornless trees.

29. And trees heavy with fruit.

30. And shade that stretches far.

31. And water flowing constantly.

32. And plenty of fruits.

33. Never ending, never forbidden.

34. And raised, comfortable couches.

35. We created them in a special way.

36. And made them virgins.

37. Loving and equal in age.

38. All this for the people on the right.

39. Many from earlier times.

40. And many from later times.

41. And the people on the left — how miserable are the people on the left!

42. They'll be in scorching winds and boiling water.

43. And under dark, smoky shadows.

44. Neither cool nor comforting.

45. Before this, they lived in luxury.

46. And kept on doing terrible wrongs.

47. They used to say, "When we die and become dust and bones, will we really be brought back to life?

48. And our ancestors too?"

49. Say, "Yes, the earlier and later generations.

50. All will be gathered together on a set day."

51. Then you who lost your way, and denied the truth.

52. You will eat from the bitter tree of Zaqqoum.

53. Filling your stomachs with it.

54. And drinking boiling water on top of it.

55. Drinking desperately, like thirsty camels drink.

56. This will be their welcome on the Day of Judgment.

57. We created you — so why don't you believe?

58. Have you thought about what you emit?

59. Do you create it, or are We the Creators?

60. We have decided death for each of you, and nothing can stop Us.

61. From replacing you with others like you, or creating you again in ways you don't even know.

62. You've already learned about your first creation — so why don't you remember?

63. Have you thought about the seeds you plant?

64. Do you make them grow, or do We make them grow?

65. If We wanted, We could turn your crops into dry, broken pieces, leaving you shocked and sad.

66. Saying, "We're ruined!

67. We've lost everything!"

68. Have you thought about the water you drink?

69. Did you send it down from the clouds, or did We send it down?

70. If We wanted, We could make it salty and bitter — so why aren't you thankful?

71. Have you thought about the fire you light?

72. Did you create the tree that fuels it, or did We create it?

73. We made fire as a reminder and a useful gift for travelers.

74. So praise the name of your Lord, the Most Great.

75. No — I swear by the positions of the stars.

76. And that's a great oath, if only you knew.

77. This is truly a noble Quran.

78. Kept safe in a protected Book.

79. Which only the pure can touch.

80. Sent down from the Lord of all creation.

81. Is this the message you take lightly.

82. And do you respond to your blessings by denying them?

83. Then why, when a person's soul reaches their throat.

84. And you're standing there, helplessly watching.

85. While We are closer to them than you — but you can't see.

86. If you really aren't accountable.

87. Why don't you bring that soul back, if you're telling the truth?

88. Now, if the person is one of those closest to Allah.

89. They'll have peace, sweet comfort, and a garden of pure joy.

90. And if they're among those on the right.

91. Peace be upon you from the companions of the right.

92. But if they're among those who denied the truth, and lost their way.

93. They'll be welcomed with scalding water.

94. And burning in the blazing fire.

95. This is the absolute truth, beyond any doubt.

96. So praise the name of your Lord, the Most Great.
