In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Kind.

1. By the mountain.

2. And by the Book written clearly.

3. On pages spread wide open.

4. And by the House visited often.

5. And by the sky raised high.

6. And by the sea set aflame.

7. Your Lord's punishment will surely come.

8. No one can stop it.

9. On the Day when the sky shakes violently.

10. And the mountains move away.

11. On that Day, sadness awaits those who denied the truth.

12. Those who played around in useless talk.

13. On the Day they're pushed roughly into the Fire of Hell.

14. "This is the Fire you used to deny!

15. Is this magic, or can you just not see?

16. Enter it now — whether you endure it patiently or not, it's all the same. You're only getting what you earned."

17. But those who were mindful of Allah will be in beautiful gardens, enjoying happiness.

18. Delighted by what their Lord has given them, and protected by their Lord from the punishment of Hellfire.

19. "Eat and drink happily, because of the good things you used to do."

20. Relaxing on lined-up couches — and We pair them with lovely companions with beautiful eyes.

21. Those who believed, and whose children followed them in faith — We will reunite them with their children, and We won't reduce the reward of their deeds at all. Every person is responsible for what they earned.

22. And We provide them with fruits and meat — whatever they desire.

23. They happily pass around cups of drink, with no useless talk or wrongdoing.

24. And young servants, like protected pearls, move around serving them.

25. They turn to each other, asking questions.

26. Saying, "Before, when we were with our families, we used to be worried and afraid.

27. But Allah has been kind to us, and He protected us from the burning punishment.

28. We used to pray to Him before — He truly is the Most Kind, the Most Merciful."

29. So remind them — you aren't, by your Lord's blessing, a fortune-teller or a madman.

30. Or do they say, "He's just a poet — we're waiting for something bad to happen to him"?

31. Say, "Keep waiting — I'm waiting along with you."

32. Do their minds tell them to say this, or are they just rebellious people?

33. Or do they say, "He made it all up"? No, they just don't want to believe.

34. Then let them produce words like it, if they're telling the truth.

35. Were they created from nothing, or did they create themselves?

36. Or did they create the heavens and the earth? No — they just don't have faith.

37. Or do they have your Lord's treasures, or are they in charge?

38. Or do they have a ladder to climb and listen? Then let whoever listens, bring clear proof.

39. Or does He have daughters, while you have sons?

40. Or do you ask them for payment, so they're burdened by debt?

41. Or do they know the unseen future, and they write it down?

42. Or are they planning something evil? Those who disbelieve — they're the ones who will be caught in their own plans.

43. Or do they have another god besides Allah? Glory to Allah, far above anything they associate with Him!

44. Even if they saw a piece of the sky falling, they'd say, "It's just piled-up clouds."

45. So leave them until they face their Day, when they'll be struck down.

46. On that Day, their plans won't help them at all, and they won't be helped.

47. And surely, those who did wrong will have another punishment before that — but most of them don't realize it.

48. Be patient with your Lord's decision — you're under Our care. And praise your Lord when you stand up.

49. And during the night, praise Him — and at the fading of the stars.
