In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Kind.

1. We have granted you a clear victory.

2. So that Allah may forgive your past and future sins, complete His favor upon you, and guide you along a straight path.

3. And so that Allah may help you with a mighty help.

4. He is the One Who sent calmness into the hearts of the believers, so their faith would grow stronger and stronger. To Allah belong the forces of the heavens and the earth, and Allah is always Knowing and Wise.

5. He will bring believing men and women into Gardens beneath which rivers flow, where they will stay forever, and He will erase their mistakes. This is a great success with Allah.

6. And He will punish hypocritical men and women, and those who worship others besides Allah — those who think badly of Allah. Evil will surround them completely. Allah is angry with them, has rejected them, and has prepared Hellfire for them — what a terrible place to end up!

7. To Allah belong the forces of the heavens and the earth, and Allah is Mighty, Wise.

8. We have sent you as a witness, a bringer of good news, and a warner.

9. So that you all may believe in Allah and His Messenger, support Him, respect Him, and praise Him morning and evening.

10. Those who promise loyalty to you, are actually promising loyalty to Allah — Allah's Hand is above their hands. Whoever breaks his promise, only harms himself. And whoever keeps his promise to Allah, He will give him a great reward.

11. Those who stayed behind among the desert Arabs, will say to you, "Our wealth and families kept us busy, so ask forgiveness for us." They say with their tongues what is not in their hearts. Say, "Who can protect you from Allah, if He wants harm or good for you?" No — Allah is fully aware of everything you do.

12. Actually, you thought the Messenger and the believers would never return to their families, and this seemed good in your hearts. You thought badly, and you became a ruined people.

13. Whoever does not believe in Allah and His Messenger — We have prepared a blazing fire for those who reject the truth.

14. To Allah belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth. He forgives whoever He wills, and punishes whoever He wills. Allah is always Forgiving, Merciful.

15. Those who stayed behind will say, when you set out to take the rewards, "Let us follow you." They want to change Allah's words. Say, "You will never follow us — this is what Allah said before." Then they will say, "You're just jealous of us." Actually, they understand very little.

16. Say to those Bedouins who stayed behind, "You will soon be called to face a strong and mighty people — you will either fight them, or they will submit. If you obey, Allah will reward you greatly. But if you turn away again, as you did before, He will punish you with a painful punishment."

17. There is no blame on the blind, no blame on the disabled, and no blame on the sick. Whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger, He will bring them into Gardens with rivers flowing beneath. But whoever turns away, He will punish with a painful punishment.

18. Allah was pleased with the believers, when they promised loyalty to you under the tree. He knew what was in their hearts, so He sent down peace and calm upon them, and rewarded them with a victory soon to come.

19. And many treasures they would take. Allah is Mighty and Wise.

20. Allah has promised you many treasures that you will take, and He hurried this one for you. He held back people's hands from harming you, so this would be a clear sign for the believers, and so He would guide you along a straight path.

21. And there are other victories you haven't yet achieved — Allah has full control over them. Allah has power over all things.

22. If the disbelievers had fought you, they would have turned their backs and run away. Then they would have found no protector and no helper.

23. This is Allah's way, as it always has been before. You will never find any change in Allah's way.

24. He is the One Who held back their hands from you, and your hands from them, in the valley of Mecca, after He gave you victory over them. Allah sees clearly everything you do.

25. These are the people who disbelieved, who stopped you from reaching the Sacred Mosque, and kept your sacrifices from reaching their place of offering. But among them were believing men and women whom you didn't know — you might have hurt them without realizing it, and that would have brought guilt upon you. So Allah held you back, so He could bring into His mercy whoever He wants. If the believers had been clearly separated from the disbelievers, We would have punished the disbelievers among them with a painful punishment.

26. Remember when the disbelievers filled their hearts with pride — the pride of ignorance — but Allah sent down His calmness upon His Messenger and the believers, and made them hold firmly to the word of righteousness. They deserved it most, and were worthy of it. And Allah has always known everything.

27. Allah truly fulfilled His Messenger's dream — it was completely true. You will surely enter the Sacred Mosque, Allah willing, safely and without fear, shaving your heads or cutting your hair short. He knew what you didn't know, and so He granted you a victory soon after.

28. He is the One Who sent His Messenger with guidance and the true religion, to make it shine above all other religions. And Allah is enough as a witness.

29. Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. Those who are with him are firm against the disbelievers, yet kind and gentle among themselves. You see them bowing and kneeling in prayer, seeking Allah's favor and His pleasure. Their faces shine with the marks of their worship. This is how they were described in the Torah. And in the Gospel, they're described like a plant that sprouts, then grows stronger, becomes thick, and stands tall on its stem, delighting the farmers — so that the disbelievers become upset by them. Allah has promised forgiveness, and a great reward, to those among them who believe and do good deeds.
