In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Kind.

1. Ha. Meem.

2. This Book is sent down from Allah — the Mighty, the Wise.

3. In the heavens and the earth, there are clear signs for those who believe.

4. And in your own creation, and in all the creatures He spreads throughout the earth, there are signs for people who are certain.

5. And in the changing of night and day, in the rain Allah sends down from the sky — bringing the earth back to life after it was dead — and in the shifting winds, there are signs for people who understand.

6. These are Allah's verses, which We recite to you truthfully. After Allah and His verses, what else will they believe in?

7. How terrible for every lying sinner.

8. Who hears Allah's verses recited to him, yet proudly ignores them, as if he never heard them. So give him news of a painful punishment.

9. And when he learns something from Our verses, he makes fun of them. Those people will have a humiliating punishment.

10. Hellfire is waiting behind them. Nothing they earned will help them, nor will the protectors they chose besides Allah. They will have a great punishment.

11. This is true guidance. But those who reject their Lord's verses will be punished with something painful and disgusting.

12. Allah made the sea serve you, so ships can sail through it by His command, and so you may seek His blessings and be thankful.

13. And He made everything in the heavens and on the earth serve you — all from Him. In this, there are signs for people who think deeply.

14. Tell the believers to forgive those who don't anticipate Allah's days, so that He may reward each group for what they earned.

15. Whoever does good, it benefits their own soul. And whoever does wrong, it harms their own soul. Then you will all return to your Lord.

16. We gave the Children of Israel the Book, wisdom, and prophethood. We provided them with good things, and favored them above all others.

17. And We gave them clear instructions. They only disagreed after knowledge came to them, out of jealousy among themselves. Your Lord will judge between them on the Day of Judgment about what they argued over.

18. Then We placed you on a clear path of guidance — so follow it, and don't follow the desires of those who don't know.

19. They can't protect you from Allah at all. Wrongdoers only protect each other, but Allah is the protector of those who are mindful of Him.

20. This is clear insight for all people, and guidance and mercy for those who are certain.

21. Do those who do wrong really think We'll treat them the same as those who believe and do good? That their lives and deaths will be equal? How badly they judge!

22. Allah created the heavens and the earth with truth, so that every soul gets exactly what it deserves. No one will be treated unfairly.

23. Have you seen the one who takes his own desires as his god? Allah lets him go astray, based on knowledge, and seals his hearing and heart, and places a cover over his eyes. Who can guide him after Allah? Won't you remember?

24. They say, "There's nothing beyond our life in this world — we live, we die, and only time destroys us." But they have no real knowledge about this — they're just guessing.

25. When Our clear verses are recited to them, their only argument is to say, "Bring back our ancestors, if you're telling the truth!"

26. Say, "Allah gives you life, then causes you to die, then He will gather you all together on the Day of Judgment — there's no doubt about it. But most people don't understand."

27. To Allah belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth. And on the Day the Hour arrives, those who followed falsehood will lose completely.

28. You'll see every community kneeling down. Each community will be called to its record, and told, "Today you'll be paid back for everything you did."

29. "This record of Ours speaks the truth about you. We were always writing down everything you did."

30. Those who believed and did good — Allah will welcome them into His mercy. That's the clear success!

31. But those who rejected the truth will be asked, "Weren't My verses recited to you? Yet you acted arrogantly, and you became people who did wrong."

32. When it was said, "Allah's promise is true, and there's no doubt about the Hour," you replied, "We don't know what this Hour is. We're just guessing — we're not convinced."

33. The evil they did will appear clearly before them, and they'll be surrounded by the very things they used to mock.

34. They'll be told, "Today We forget you, just as you forgot you'd meet this Day. Your home is the Fire, and you'll have no helpers."

35. This is because you treated Allah's verses as a joke, and this worldly life deceived you. Today, they won't be taken out of the Fire, nor will they be allowed to make excuses.

36. So praise belongs to Allah, Lord of the heavens, Lord of the earth, Lord of all creation.

37. To Him alone belongs greatness in the heavens and the earth. He is the Mighty, the Wise.
