In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Kind.

1. Ha. Meem.

2. This is a revelation sent down from the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.

3. A Book whose verses are clearly explained — a Quran in Arabic, for people who understand.

4. Bringing good news and giving warnings — but most of them turn away, refusing to listen.

5. They say, "Our hearts are covered against what you're calling us to, our ears can't hear you, and there's a barrier between us and you. So do what you want — we'll do what we want."

6. Say, "I'm only a human being like you. It has been revealed to me that your God is one God. So follow the right path toward Him, and ask His forgiveness." How terrible it will be for those who worship others beside Him.

7. Those who don't give charity, and who deny the Hereafter.

8. But those who believe and do good deeds, will have a reward that never ends.

9. Say, "Do you really deny the One Who created the earth in two days, and you set up rivals equal to Him? He is the Lord of all creation."

10. He placed firm mountains on the earth, blessed it, and provided all its needs in four days — exactly enough for everyone who asks.

11. Then He turned toward the sky, when it was still smoke, and said to it and to the earth, "Come into being, willingly or unwillingly." They replied, "We come willingly."

12. So He formed them into seven heavens in two days, and gave each heaven its own command. And We decorated the nearest heaven with shining stars, protecting it. That is the plan of the Almighty, the All-Knowing.

13. If they still turn away, then say, "I warn you of a lightning strike, like the one that struck Aad and Thamud."

14. When messengers came to them from every side, saying, "Worship no one but Allah," they replied, "If our Lord had wanted, He would have sent angels instead. We don't believe in the message you've brought."

15. As for Aad, they became arrogant on earth without any right, saying, "Who could possibly be stronger than us?" Didn't they realize that Allah, Who created them, is stronger than they are? But they kept rejecting Our verses.

16. So We sent against them a fierce, roaring wind on days of terrible disaster, to make them taste humiliating punishment in this worldly life. But the punishment of the Hereafter is even more humiliating — and they'll have no one to help them.

17. As for Thamud, We showed them the right way, but they chose blindness over guidance. So a humiliating punishment of thunder struck them, because of what they used to do.

18. And We saved those who believed and were mindful of Allah.

19. On the Day when Allah's enemies will be gathered and driven to the Fire, they will be kept in order.

20. Until, when they reach it, their own ears, eyes, and skins will speak against them, testifying about what they used to do.

21. They will say to their skins, "Why did you testify against us?" Their skins will reply, "Allah made us speak — He makes everything speak. He created you the first time, and to Him you are returned."

22. You didn't try to hide yourselves from your ears, your eyes, or your skins testifying against you. Instead, you thought that Allah didn't know much of what you were doing.

23. And that thought you had about your Lord — it ruined you, and now you've become losers.

24. Even if they're patient, the Fire will still be their home. And even if they beg to make things right, they won't be allowed to.

25. We placed companions around them, who made their past and future deeds seem attractive. So the punishment came true for them, just as it did for earlier communities of jinn and humans. They were truly losers.

26. Those who disbelieve say, "Don't listen to this Quran, and make noise when it's recited, so you might win."

27. But We will definitely make the disbelievers taste a severe punishment, and We will surely pay them back for the worst things they used to do.

28. That's the reward for Allah's enemies — the Fire. It will be their home forever, as payback for rejecting Our verses.

29. Those who disbelieved will say, "Our Lord, show us the two who led us astray — among jinn and humans — so we can trample them under our feet, and make them the lowest."

30. Those who say, "Our Lord is Allah," and then go straight, angels will come down to them, saying, "Don't be afraid, and don't be sad. Rejoice in the Paradise you were promised.

31. We are your friends in this life, and in the Hereafter. There you'll have whatever your hearts desire, and whatever you ask for.

32. A welcoming gift from the Most Forgiving, Most Merciful."

33. Who speaks better words than someone who invites others to Allah, does good deeds, and says, "I am one of the Muslims"?

34. Good and evil are not equal. Respond to evil with what is better — then the one who was your enemy will become like a close, caring friend.

35. But only those who are patient can achieve this, and only those who have great fortune are given this blessing.

36. And when Satan tempts you, seek protection in Allah. He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.

37. Among His signs are the night and the day, and the sun and the moon. Don't bow down to the sun or the moon, but bow down only to Allah, Who created them — if you truly worship Him.

38. But if they are too proud, remember that those who are with your Lord praise Him night and day, and they never get tired.

39. Another of His signs is that you see the earth dry and lifeless — but when We send rain down on it, it stirs and grows. Surely, the One Who gives life to the earth can bring the dead back to life. He has power over everything.

40. Those who twist the meaning of Our verses aren't hidden from Us. Who is better — the one thrown into the Fire, or the one who comes safely on the Day of Judgment? Do whatever you wish — He sees clearly all that you do.

41. Those who reject this Reminder when it comes to them — it is truly a mighty Book.

42. Falsehood cannot approach it from the front or from behind — it is sent down by the One Who is Wise and Worthy of praise.

43. Nothing is said to you, except what was said to the messengers before you. Your Lord is full of forgiveness — but also severe in punishment.

44. If We had made this Quran in a foreign language, they would have said, "Why aren't its verses explained clearly? Is it foreign, while the messenger is Arab?" Say, "For those who believe, it is guidance and healing. But those who don't believe have heaviness in their ears, and it is blindness for them. These people are being called from far away."

45. We gave Moses the Scripture, but people disagreed about it. If a word from your Lord hadn't already been decided, their differences would have been settled right away. Truly, they are deeply unsure about it.

46. Whoever does good, it benefits their own soul, and whoever does wrong, it harms their own soul. Your Lord is never unfair to His servants.

47. Only He knows when the Hour will come. No fruit comes out of its covering, no female becomes pregnant or gives birth without His knowledge. On the Day He calls them, "Where are My partners?" they will answer, "We admit to You, none of us can witness anything now."

48. The partners they used to call upon before will vanish from them, and they will realize there's no escape.

49. Humans never get tired of asking for good things, but when trouble touches them, they quickly lose hope and become desperate.

50. And if We let them taste mercy from Us after hardship touched them, they say, "This is mine — I deserve it. I don't think the Hour will ever come, and even if I'm brought back to my Lord, I'll surely get the best reward from Him." But We will tell those who disbelieved what they've done, and We will make them taste a harsh punishment.

51. When We bless humans, they turn away and distance themselves. But when trouble touches them, they pray long and hard.

52. Say, "Think about this: if the Quran really is from Allah, and you reject it, who could be more lost than someone who stubbornly opposes the truth?"

53. We will show them Our signs everywhere — in the world and within themselves — until it becomes clear to them that this Quran is the truth. Isn't it enough that your Lord is Witness over all things?

54. Truly, they still doubt that they'll meet their Lord. But remember, He surrounds everything completely.
