In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Kind.
1. This Book is sent down from Allah — the Almighty, the Wise.
2. We sent down this Book to you with truth, so worship Allah, sincerely devoted only to Him.
3. True devotion belongs only to Allah. But those who take protectors besides Him say, "We only worship them so they can bring us closer to Allah." Allah will judge between them about what they disagree. Allah does not guide anyone who lies and rejects the truth.
4. If Allah had wanted to have a child, He would have chosen anyone He wished from His creation. Glory to Him! He is Allah — the One, the Supreme.
5. He created the heavens and the earth with truth. He wraps the night around the day, and wraps the day around the night. He controls the sun and the moon, each moving for a set time. Truly, He is the Almighty, the Most Forgiving.
6. He created you from a single soul, then made from it its partner. He provided for you eight pairs of livestock. He creates you inside your mothers, stage after stage, in three layers of darkness. This is Allah, your Lord. All control belongs to Him. There is no god except Him. So how can you turn away?
7. If you reject Him, Allah does not need you. Yet He does not like disbelief for His servants. If you are thankful, He is pleased with you. No one will carry another person's burden. Then you will return to your Lord, and He will tell you everything you did. He knows exactly what's in your hearts.
8. When trouble touches a human, he calls out to his Lord, turning to Him completely. But when Allah gives him a blessing, he forgets the One he prayed to before, and sets up rivals to Allah, leading others away from His path. Say, "Enjoy your disbelief for a little while. You will surely be among the people of the Fire."
9. Is someone who prays humbly through the night, bowing and standing, fearing the Hereafter, and hoping for his Lord's mercy, equal to someone who doesn't? Say, "Are those who know equal to those who don't know?" Only people who truly understand will remember.
10. Say, "My servants who believe, be mindful of your Lord. Those who do good in this world, will have goodness. Allah's earth is vast. Those who stay patient will receive their reward without limit."
11. Say, "I am commanded to worship Allah, sincerely devoted only to Him."
12. "And I am commanded to be the first of those who submit to Him."
13. Say, "I fear, if I disobey my Lord, the punishment of a great Day."
14. Say, "It is Allah I worship, sincerely devoted only to Him."
15. "So worship whatever you want besides Him." Say, "The real losers are those who lose themselves and their families on the Day of Judgment. Truly, that is the clearest loss."
16. Above them will be layers of fire, and beneath them layers as well. This is how Allah warns His servants. My servants, fear Me.
17. But those who stay away from false gods, and turn sincerely to Allah — they will have good news. So give good news to My servants.
18. Those who listen carefully to what is said, and follow the best of it — these are the ones Allah has guided, and these are the people of understanding.
19. Can you save someone who has already earned punishment? Can you rescue someone who is in the Fire?
20. But those who respect their Lord will have high mansions, built one above another, with rivers flowing beneath them. This is Allah's promise, and Allah never breaks His promise.
21. Don't you see how Allah sends down rain from the sky, guiding it into springs in the earth? Then He brings out plants of different colors. Later, they dry up, and you see them turn yellow, and then He makes them crumble away. In this is a reminder for people who understand.
22. Is the person whose heart Allah has opened to Islam, and who walks in the light from his Lord? How terrible for those whose hearts are hardened against remembering Allah — they are clearly lost.
23. Allah has sent down the most beautiful message — a Book with verses that match and repeat. When those who respect their Lord hear it, their skin shivers, and then their skin and hearts soften with the remembrance of Allah. This is Allah's guidance — He guides with it whoever He wills. But whoever Allah leaves astray, no one can guide.
24. What about someone who tries to shield himself with his face from the terrible punishment on the Day of Judgment? The wrongdoers will be told, "Taste what you earned."
25. Those before them rejected the truth, so punishment came to them from where they didn't expect.
26. Allah made them taste disgrace in this life, but the punishment in the Hereafter is even greater — if only they knew.
27. We have given people every kind of example in this Quran, so they might remember.
28. A Quran in clear Arabic, without any mistakes or confusion, so they might be mindful.
29. Allah gives an example: a man owned by many arguing masters, and another man who belongs completely to just one master. Are these two equal? Praise belongs to Allah, but most people don't understand.
30. You will certainly die, and they too will die.
31. Then, on the Day of Judgment, you will all argue your cases before your Lord.
32. Who could be more wrong than someone who lies about Allah, and rejects the truth when it comes to him? Isn't Hell the right place for those who deny?
33. But those who bring the truth and believe in it — they are the righteous.
34. They will have whatever they wish for with their Lord. That is the reward for those who do good.
35. Allah will erase the worst things they've done, and reward them for the best things they've done.
36. Is not Allah sufficient for His servant? Yet they try to scare you with others besides Him. Whoever Allah leads astray, no one can guide them.
37. And whoever Allah guides, no one can lead them astray. Isn't Allah powerful, able to bring justice?
38. If you asked them, "Who created the heavens and the earth?" they'd surely say, "Allah." Then say, "Think about those you call on besides Allah — if Allah wanted to harm me, could they remove His harm? Or if He wanted to show me mercy, could they hold back His mercy?" Say, "Allah is enough for me. Those who trust, trust in Him."
39. Say, "My people, do whatever you choose, and I'll do what I'm doing. Soon you'll see.
40. Who will face a punishment that humiliates them, and who will suffer a lasting punishment."
41. We sent down this Book to you with the truth, for all people. Whoever follows the right path, does so for their own good. And whoever loses their way, only harms themselves. You aren't in charge of them.
42. Allah takes people's souls when they die, and also during their sleep if they haven't died yet. He keeps the souls of those who have died, and sends back the others until their set time. In this are clear signs for people who think deeply.
43. Or have they chosen others besides Allah, to speak up for them? Say, "Even if those others have no power at all, and don't understand anything?"
44. Say, "All intercession belongs only to Allah. He rules the heavens and the earth, and in the end, you'll all return to Him."
45. When Allah alone is mentioned, the hearts of those who don't believe in the Hereafter shrink away in disgust. But when others besides Him are mentioned, they become happy right away.
46. Say, "O Allah, Creator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of everything hidden and everything seen, You alone will judge between Your servants about all the things they disagreed on."
47. If those who did wrong had everything on earth — and even twice as much — they would gladly offer it all to escape the terrible punishment on the Day of Judgment. But then they'll see from Allah what they never imagined.
48. The wrong things they did will become clear to them, and the very punishment they used to laugh at will surround them.
49. When a human faces trouble, he calls out to Us. But then, when We bless him with kindness from Us, he says, "I got this because of my own knowledge." No, it's a test — but most people don't realize it.
50. People before them said the same thing, but all they earned didn't help them at all.
51. So the wrong things they did struck them hard. And those who do wrong today — soon, the wrong they do will strike them too, and they can't escape.
52. Don't they know that Allah gives generously to whoever He wills, and He limits it too? Truly, in this are clear signs for people who believe.
53. Say, "My servants who have gone too far and hurt themselves, don't lose hope in Allah's mercy. Allah forgives all sins. He is truly the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful."
54. Turn back to your Lord, and surrender to Him before punishment comes to you — then no one can help you.
55. Follow the best teachings sent down to you from your Lord, before punishment suddenly comes to you, without you even realizing it.
56. Otherwise, a soul might sadly say, "How terrible! I wasted my chance to obey Allah, and I was one of those who laughed at the truth."
57. Or it might say, "If only Allah had guided me, I would have been among those who were careful and mindful."
58. Or it might say, when it sees the punishment, "If only I had another chance, I would surely be among those who do good."
59. But yes — My verses did come to you, yet you rejected them, acted arrogantly, and chose not to believe.
60. On the Day of Judgment, you'll see those who lied about Allah — their faces darkened. Isn't Hell the right home for those who were proud and arrogant?
61. But Allah will save those who were mindful of Him, bringing them safely to success. No harm will touch them, and they won't feel any sadness.
62. Allah is the Creator of everything, and He takes care of all things.
63. He holds the keys to the heavens and the earth. Those who reject Allah's verses — they are the real losers.
64. Say, "Do you really tell me to worship someone other than Allah, you ignorant people?"
65. It was revealed to you, and to those before you: "If you associate partners with Allah, all your good deeds will be lost, and you will surely become one of the losers."
66. Instead, worship Allah alone, and be truly thankful.
67. They haven't honored Allah the way He deserves — on the Day of Judgment, the whole earth will be in His grip, and the heavens will be folded up in His right hand. Glory to Him! He is far above the partners they set up beside Him.
68. The trumpet will be blown, and everyone in the heavens and the earth will fall down unconscious, except those Allah chooses. Then it will be blown again, and suddenly they'll all be standing, looking around.
69. The earth will shine brightly with the light of its Lord. The record of deeds will be set out, the prophets and witnesses will be brought forward, and judgment will be made between them fairly — no one will be treated unfairly.
70. Every soul will be given exactly what it earned, and He knows best everything they've done.
71. Those who disbelieved will be led to Hell in groups. When they arrive, its gates will open, and its guards will ask them, "Didn't messengers from among you come and recite your Lord's verses to you, warning you about this very day?" They'll say, "Yes, but the punishment was already decided for those who rejected the truth."
72. They'll be told, "Enter the gates of Hell, where you'll stay forever." How terrible is the home of the arrogant!
73. Those who were mindful of their Lord, will be led to Paradise in groups. When they arrive, its gates will open, and its guards will greet them, saying, "Peace be upon you! You've done well, so enter and stay forever."
74. They'll say, "Praise belongs to Allah, Who kept His promise to us, and gave us this land — we can live anywhere we wish in Paradise." How wonderful is the reward for those who did good!
75. You'll see the angels surrounding Allah's throne, praising their Lord with glory. Judgment will be made fairly among all, and it will be said, "Praise belongs to Allah, Lord of all creation."
