In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Kind.
1. Praise belongs to Allah, Who owns everything in the heavens and the earth. Praise belongs to Him in the Hereafter too. He is the Wise, the All-Knowing.
2. He knows everything that goes into the earth, and everything that comes out of it, and everything that comes down from the sky, and everything that rises up to it. He is the Most Merciful, the Most Forgiving.
3. Those who disbelieve say, "The Hour will never come to us." Say, "Yes, by my Lord, it will surely come to you! He knows everything unseen. Not even the tiniest speck in the heavens or the earth escapes Him — nothing smaller or larger than that — everything is clearly recorded in a clear Book."
4. So He may reward those who believe and do good deeds. They will have forgiveness and a generous provision.
5. But those who try to challenge and reject Our verses — they will have a painful punishment of suffering.
6. Those who have been given knowledge can clearly see that what has been revealed to you from your Lord is the truth, and that it guides to the path of the Almighty, the Praiseworthy.
7. Those who disbelieve say, "Should we show you a man who claims that, after you're completely turned to dust, you'll be created all over again?"
8. Has he invented a lie about Allah, or is he crazy? No — those who don't believe in the Hereafter are the ones in punishment and far-off error.
9. Haven't they noticed what's above and below them in the heavens and the earth? If We wished, We could make the earth swallow them up, or let pieces of the sky fall down on them. In this is a clear sign for every servant who turns back to Allah.
10. We certainly gave David special blessings from Us. We said, "Mountains, echo praises along with him, and birds too!" And We made iron soft for him.
11. Saying, "Make full coats of armor, and measure the links carefully. And do good deeds — I see clearly everything you do."
12. And for Solomon, We made the wind serve him — its morning journey took a month, and its evening journey took a month. We made a spring of melted copper flow for him. And some of the jinn worked under his command, by the permission of his Lord. If any of them turned away from Our command, We made them taste the punishment of blazing fire.
13. They made for him whatever he wanted — beautiful sanctuaries, statues, huge bowls like deep pools, and heavy cooking pots fixed in place. "Family of David, work gratefully," but only a few of My servants are truly grateful.
14. Then, when We decreed Solomon's death, nothing showed the jinn he had died except a small creature of the earth eating away at his staff. When he finally fell down, the jinn clearly realized that if they had known the unseen, they wouldn't have stayed working in humiliating punishment.
15. There was truly a lesson in the homeland of Sheba: two beautiful gardens, one on the right, and one on the left. They were told, "Eat from the blessings your Lord has given you, and be thankful to Him. Yours is a good land, and your Lord is forgiving."
16. But they turned away, so We sent against them a powerful flood, and We replaced their two gardens with others bearing bitter fruit, thorny bushes, and a few sparse trees.
17. This is how We repaid them because they were ungrateful. Do We ever punish anyone except those who are ungrateful?
18. We placed between them and the towns We had blessed many visible towns, and We made travel easy between them, saying, "Travel safely through them, by night or day."
19. But they said, "Our Lord, make our journeys longer!" They wronged themselves, so We turned their story into lessons for others, and We scattered them completely. Truly, there are lessons in this for everyone who is patient and thankful.
20. Iblis's guess about them came true, and they followed him — except for a group of believers.
21. Yet he had no real power over them. We allowed this only to clearly show who truly believes in the Hereafter, and who doubts it. Your Lord watches carefully over everything.
22. Say, "Call on those you claim besides Allah. They don't own even the tiniest speck in the heavens or on earth. They have no share in either, and Allah has no helper among them."
23. No one's intercession will be of any help before Him, except for those He allows. When fear is lifted from their hearts, they'll ask, "What did your Lord say?" They'll answer, "The truth." He is the Most High, the Greatest.
24. Say, "Who provides for you from the heavens and the earth?" Say, "Allah alone. Either we or you are clearly guided or clearly lost."
25. Say, "You won't be asked about our wrongs, and we won't be asked about what you do."
26. Say, "Our Lord will gather us together, then He will judge fairly between us. He is the Best Judge, the All-Knowing."
27. Say, "Show me those you claim are equal partners with Him. Certainly not! He alone is Allah — the Almighty, the Wise."
28. We sent you only as a messenger bringing good news and warnings to all people, but most people don't understand.
29. They ask, "When will this promise come true, if you're telling the truth?"
30. Say, "You have an appointed day — you can't delay it by even an hour, nor can you bring it forward."
31. Those who disbelieve say, "We will never believe in this Quran, nor in what came before it." If only you could see when the wrongdoers stand before their Lord, blaming each other! The weak ones will say to the proud ones, "If it weren't for you, we would have believed!"
32. The proud ones will reply to the weak ones, "Did we stop you from following the truth after it came to you? No — you yourselves chose to do wrong."
33. The weak ones will say back to the proud ones, "No, it was your constant plotting, day and night, when you kept telling us to reject Allah and set up equals with Him." But when they see the punishment, they will hide their regret. And We will place chains around the necks of those who disbelieved. Aren't they being repaid exactly for what they did?
34. Whenever We sent a warner to a town, its wealthy people always said, "We reject the message you've brought."
35. They said, "We have more wealth and children, and we won't be punished."
36. Say, "My Lord gives generously to whoever He wishes, and He limits for whoever He wishes — but most people don't understand."
37. Your wealth and children won't bring you closer to Us — only those who believe and do good deeds will come near. They will have double rewards for what they've done, and they'll be safe in high places.
38. But those who try to challenge Our verses — they'll be brought to face the punishment.
39. Say, "My Lord gives generously or sparingly to whichever of His servants He chooses. Whatever you spend in charity, He will replace it — He is the best Provider."
40. On the Day when He gathers them all together, He will ask the angels, "Were these people worshiping you?"
41. The angels will reply, "Glory to You! You are our Protector, not them. Actually, they worshiped the jinn — most of them believed in them."
42. Today, none of you can help or harm each other. And We will say to those who did wrong, "Taste the punishment of the Fire that you used to deny."
43. When Our clear verses are recited to them, they say, "This is just a man trying to turn you away from what your ancestors worshiped." They also say, "This is nothing but a made-up lie." And when the truth comes to the disbelievers, they say, "This is clearly magic."
44. But We never gave them any books to study, nor did We send them any warner before you.
45. Those before them also rejected the truth, even though these people haven't received even one-tenth of what We gave to those earlier ones. Yet they denied My messengers — so how severe was My response!
46. Say, "I give you just one advice: Stand up before Allah, either in pairs or alone, and think deeply. Your companion isn't crazy — he is only a warner to you, before a severe punishment."
47. Say, "Whatever reward I asked from you, you can keep it. My reward comes only from Allah, and He sees and witnesses everything."
48. Say, "My Lord asserts the truth. He knows all hidden things."
49. Say, "The truth has arrived, and falsehood can't start anything or bring anything back."
50. Say, "If I lose my way, I only harm myself. But if I follow the right path, it's because of what my Lord reveals to me. He hears everything and is always near."
51. If only you could see when they're terrified — there's no escape, and they're caught from a place so close.
52. Then they'll say, "Now we believe in it!" But how can they obtain it from so far away?
53. They rejected it before, guessing blindly from a distant place.
54. Now a barrier stands between them and what they desire, just as it happened to others like them before. They were always filled with deep doubts.
