In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Kind.

1. Alif. Lam. Meem.

2. Allah — there is no god except Him, the Ever-Living, the One Who sustains everything.

3. He sent down to you the Book with truth, confirming what came before it, and He sent down the Torah and the Gospel.

4. Before this, as guidance for people. And He sent down the standard to tell right from wrong. Those who reject Allah's verses will face a severe punishment. Allah is mighty, able to take revenge.

5. Nothing on earth or in heaven is hidden from Allah.

6. He shapes you in your mothers' wombs however He wishes. There is no god except Him — the Mighty, the Wise.

7. He is the One Who sent down the Book to you. Some verses are clear — they form the foundation of the Book — and others are unclear. Those with twisted hearts follow the unclear verses, looking for trouble and seeking hidden meanings. But no one knows their true meaning except Allah. Those who have deep knowledge say, "We believe in it. All of it is from our Lord." Only people who truly understand will remember this.

8. "Our Lord, don't let our hearts stray after You've guided us, and grant us mercy from Yourself. You are truly the Generous Giver."

9. "Our Lord, You will gather all people on a Day about which there is no doubt. Allah never breaks His promise."

10. Those who disbelieve — their wealth and their children won't help them at all against Allah. They are the fuel for the Fire.

11. Like Pharaoh's people and those before them — they rejected Our signs, so Allah punished them for their sins. Allah is severe in punishment.

12. Say to those who disbelieve, "You will be defeated and gathered into Hell — what a terrible resting place!"

13. You already saw a clear sign in the two groups that faced each other — one group fighting in Allah's way, and the other disbelieving. The disbelievers saw the believers as twice their own number with their own eyes. Allah strengthens with His help whoever He wishes. Truly, there's a lesson in this for those who see clearly.

14. People naturally love the things they desire — women, children, piles of gold and silver, fine horses, livestock, and farmland. These are just the pleasures of this worldly life — but with Allah is the best home.

15. Say, "Should I tell you about something better than all of this? Those who are mindful of Allah will have beautiful gardens with rivers flowing beneath them, staying there forever, pure companions, and Allah's approval. Allah sees His servants clearly."

16. They are the ones who say, "Our Lord, we truly believe, so please forgive our sins and protect us from the punishment of the Fire."

17. They are patient, truthful, devoted to Allah, generous in giving, and ask forgiveness in the early hours before dawn.

18. Allah Himself testifies that there is no god except Him — and so do the angels and those who have knowledge. He always upholds justice. There is no god except Him, the Almighty, the Wise.

19. The true religion with Allah is Islam. Those who received the Scripture disagreed only after knowledge came to them, out of jealousy toward each other. Whoever rejects Allah's signs — Allah is swift in taking account.

20. If they argue with you, say, "I have surrendered myself completely to Allah, and so have those who follow me." And say to those who received the Scripture and those who haven't, "Have you surrendered yourselves to Allah?" If they surrender, then they have found the right way. But if they turn away, your duty is only to deliver the message. Allah sees His servants clearly.

21. Those who reject Allah's verses, kill the prophets unfairly, and kill people who teach justice — give them the news of a painful punishment.

22. They are the ones whose deeds are wasted in this world and in the Hereafter, and they will have no helpers.

23. Haven't you seen those who received a part of the Scripture? When they're invited to Allah's Book to judge between them, some of them turn away, refusing to listen.

24. That's because they say, "The Fire will only touch us for a few days." Their own lies have fooled them about their religion.

25. But how will they feel when We gather them on a Day that's sure to come, when every soul will be given exactly what it earned, and no one will be treated unfairly?

26. Say, "O Allah, Owner of all power, You give power to whoever You wish, and You take it away from whoever You wish. You honor whoever You wish, and You humble whoever You wish. All good is in Your hands. Truly, You have power over everything."

27. You make the night flow into the day, and the day flow into the night. You bring the living from the dead, and the dead from the living. And You provide for whoever You wish without limit.

28. Believers shouldn't take unbelievers as close friends instead of other believers. Whoever does this has nothing to do with Allah — unless you're protecting yourselves from danger. Allah warns you about Himself, and to Allah is your final return.

29. Say, "Whether you hide what's in your hearts or show it openly, Allah knows it. He knows everything in the heavens and everything on earth. Allah truly has power over all things."

30. On the Day when every soul finds all the good it did right there in front of it, and all the bad it did — it will wish there were a huge distance between itself and its bad deeds. Allah warns you about Himself, yet Allah is deeply kind to His servants.

31. Say, "If you truly love Allah, then follow me — Allah will love you and forgive your sins. Allah is forgiving and kind."

32. Say, "Obey Allah and the Messenger." But if they turn away, then know that Allah does not love those who reject Him.

33. Allah chose Adam, Noah, Abraham's family, and Imran's family above all people.

34. Descendants, one from another. Allah hears and knows everything.

35. Remember when Imran's wife said, "My Lord, I dedicate to You what is in my womb, to serve You completely. Please accept this from me — You truly hear and know all things."

36. But when she gave birth, she said, "My Lord, I've given birth to a girl" — and Allah knew best what she had given birth to — "and a boy is not like a girl. I've named her Mary, and I ask You to protect her and her children from Satan, the rejected one."

37. So her Lord accepted Mary graciously and raised her beautifully, placing her under the care of Zechariah. Whenever Zechariah visited her in the prayer room, he found food with her. He asked, "Mary, where did you get this?" She replied, "It is from Allah. Allah provides for whoever He wishes without limit."

38. Right there, Zechariah prayed to his Lord, saying, "My Lord, grant me from Yourself a good child — You always hear prayers."

39. Then angels called out to him, while he stood praying in the prayer room, "Allah gives you good news of John, who will confirm a Word from Allah. He will be noble, pure-hearted, and a prophet among the righteous."

40. Zechariah said, "My Lord, how can I have a son when I am very old and my wife can't have children?" Allah replied, "This is how Allah does whatever He wishes."

41. Zechariah said, "My Lord, give me a sign." Allah said, "Your sign is that you won't speak to people for three days, except by gestures. Remember your Lord often, and praise Him morning and evening."

42. And remember when the angels said, "Mary, Allah has chosen you, purified you, and chosen you above all other women in the world."

43. "Mary, obey your Lord humbly, bow down, and pray with those who pray."

44. These are stories of the unseen that We reveal to you. You weren't there when they cast their pens to decide who would care for Mary, nor were you there when they argued about it.

45. Remember when the angels said, "Mary, Allah gives you good news of a Word from Him. His name will be the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary — honored in this world and the Hereafter, and among those closest to Allah."

46. "He will speak to people from the cradle and as a grown man, and he will be among the righteous."

47. Mary said, "My Lord, how can I have a child when no human has ever touched me?" Allah replied, "This is how Allah creates whatever He wills. When He decides something, He only says to it, 'Be,' and it is."

48. And He will teach him the Scripture and wisdom, and the Torah and the Gospel.

49. And He will send him as a messenger to the Children of Israel, saying, "I have come to you with a sign from your Lord — I will shape for you from clay something like a bird, then breathe into it, and it will become a real bird by Allah's permission. I will heal those born blind and those with skin diseases, and bring the dead back to life by Allah's permission. And I will tell you what you eat and what you store in your homes. Truly, in this is a clear sign for you, if you believe."

50. "I confirm what came before me in the Torah, and I will make lawful for you some things that were forbidden to you. I have come to you with a sign from your Lord, so fear Allah and obey me."

51. "Allah is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him alone. This is the straight path."

52. When Jesus sensed disbelief from them, he asked, "Who will help me in Allah's cause?" The disciples replied, "We are Allah's helpers. We believe in Allah, so be our witness that we have submitted to Him."

53. "Our Lord, we believe in what You have revealed, and we follow the messenger, so count us among those who bear witness."

54. And they made plans, but Allah also made plans — and Allah is the best of planners.

55. Remember when Allah said, "Jesus, I will take you back and raise you up to Me. I will purify you from those who disbelieve, and I will place those who follow you above those who disbelieve until the Day of Judgment. Then you will all return to Me, and I will judge between you about what you used to disagree."

56. As for those who disbelieve, I will punish them severely in this world and the Hereafter, and they will have no helpers.

57. But those who believe and do good deeds, He will give them their rewards fully. Allah does not love those who do wrong.

58. This is what We recite to you from the verses and the wise Reminder.

59. Truly, the example of Jesus with Allah is like the example of Adam. He created him from dust, then said to him, "Be," and he was.

60. The truth is from your Lord, so don't be among those who doubt.

61. If anyone argues with you about this after knowledge has come to you, then say, "Come, let's call our children and your children, our women and your women, ourselves and yourselves. Then let's sincerely pray and ask Allah to send His curse upon whoever is lying."

62. This is the true story, and there is no god except Allah. Allah is truly the Almighty, the Wise.

63. If they turn away, then surely Allah knows those who spread corruption.

64. Say, "People of the Scripture, let's come together on common ground between us and you — that we worship only Allah, never associating anything with Him, nor taking one another as lords besides Allah." If they turn away, then say, "Be witnesses that we have surrendered to Him."

65. People of the Scripture, why do you argue about Abraham, when the Torah and the Gospel were revealed only after him? Don't you understand?

66. Here you are, arguing about things you know something about — but why argue about things you know nothing about? Allah knows, and you don't know.

67. Abraham was neither a Jew nor a Christian. He was a true believer, devoted entirely to Allah, and he never worshiped anything besides Him.

68. Surely, the people closest to Abraham are those who followed him, this Prophet, and those who believe. And Allah is the protector of all believers.

69. Some people of the Scripture wish they could lead you astray — but they mislead only themselves, and they don't even realize it.

70. People of the Scripture, why do you reject Allah's verses, even though you witness their truth?

71. People of the Scripture, why do you mix truth with falsehood, and hide the truth knowingly?

72. Some people of the Scripture say, "Believe in what was revealed to the believers at the start of the day, then reject it at its end — maybe they'll turn away from their faith."

73. "And don't trust anyone except those who follow your religion." Say, "True guidance is Allah's guidance. Are you worried someone else might receive what you've been given, or that they'll argue against you before your Lord?" Say, "All favor is in Allah's hand — He gives it to whoever He chooses. Allah is generous and knows everything."

74. He specially chooses whoever He wishes for His mercy — and Allah's kindness is truly great.

75. Among the People of the Book are some who, if you trust them with a huge amount of treasure, will return it to you honestly. But there are others who, if you trust them with just one coin, won't give it back unless you keep asking for it. That's because they say, "We don't have to be fair to these people who aren't like us." They tell lies about Allah, even though they know the truth.

76. But whoever keeps their promises and stays mindful of Allah — Allah truly loves those who are mindful of Him.

77. Those who trade away Allah's promises and their own vows for a small price will have no share in the Hereafter. Allah won't speak to them, won't even look at them on the Day of Judgment, and won't purify them. They will have a painful punishment.

78. Some of them twist their tongues when reading the Book, so you'll think it's from the Book — but it's not. They say, "This is from Allah," but it's not from Allah. They knowingly tell lies about Allah.

79. No human being whom Allah gives the Scripture, wisdom, and prophethood would ever say to people, "Worship me instead of Allah." Rather, he would say, "Be devoted servants of Allah, because you teach the Scripture and study it."

80. He would never tell you to take angels or prophets as your lords. Would he command you to disbelieve after you've already submitted to Allah?

81. Remember when Allah made a promise with the prophets, saying, "When I give you the Scripture and wisdom, and then a messenger comes to confirm what you have, you must believe in him and support him." Allah asked, "Do you accept this promise and commit to it?" They replied, "We accept." He said, "Then be witnesses, and I am with you among the witnesses."

82. Whoever turns away after this — they are the ones who disobey Allah.

83. Do they want a religion other than Allah's, when everyone in the heavens and the earth has already submitted to Him, willingly or unwillingly? And to Him they will all return.

84. Say, "We believe in Allah, and in what was revealed to us, and what was revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and the tribes, and in what was given to Moses, Jesus, and all the prophets from their Lord. We don't make any distinction between them, and to Him we submit."

85. Whoever chooses a religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted from him, and in the Hereafter he'll be among the losers.

86. How could Allah guide people who disbelieved after believing, after they had witnessed that the Messenger was true and clear proofs had come to them? Allah doesn't guide those who do wrong.

87. Their reward is that Allah's curse is upon them, and the curse of the angels and all people.

88. They'll stay in it forever — their punishment won't be reduced, nor will they be given another chance.

89. Except for those who repent afterward and make things right — Allah is truly forgiving and merciful.

90. Those who disbelieve after believing, and then grow even stronger in disbelief — their repentance won't be accepted. They're the ones who've lost their way.

91. Those who disbelieve and die as disbelievers — even if one of them offered the whole earth filled with gold to free himself, it wouldn't be accepted. They'll have a painful punishment, and they'll have no helpers.

92. You'll never achieve true goodness until you give from what you love. Whatever you give, Allah knows it well.

93. All food was allowed for the Children of Israel, except what Israel had forbidden himself before the Torah was revealed. Say, "Bring the Torah and read it, if you're telling the truth."

94. Whoever invents lies about Allah after this — they're the ones who do wrong.

95. Say, "Allah has spoken the truth, so follow the faith of Abraham, who was devoted purely to Allah and never worshiped idols."

96. Truly, the first House built for people to worship Allah was the one at Bakkah — a blessed place and a guide for all people.

97. In it are clear signs, including the standing place of Abraham. Whoever enters it finds safety. And people owe Allah the pilgrimage to this House, if they're able to make the journey. But whoever disbelieves — Allah doesn't need anything from anyone in the whole world.

98. Say, "People of the Book, why do you reject Allah's verses, when Allah sees everything you do?"

99. Say, "People of the Book, why do you try to turn believers away from Allah's path, wanting it to be crooked, even though you see it for yourselves? Allah isn't unaware of what you're doing."

100. Believers, if you listen to some of those who received the Book before you, they'll turn you back into disbelievers after you've believed.

101. How could you disbelieve, when Allah's verses are being recited to you, and His Messenger is right among you? Whoever holds tightly to Allah has truly been guided to the straight path.

102. Believers, respect Allah as He deserves, and don't let yourselves die except as Muslims.

103. Hold firmly, all together, to Allah's rope, and don't become divided. Remember Allah's favor to you — you were once enemies, but He joined your hearts together, and by His kindness you became brothers. You were on the edge of a pit of fire, and He saved you from it. This is how Allah clearly shows you His verses, so you can find the right way.

104. Let there be a group among you who call others to goodness, encourage what's right, and stop what's wrong. Those are the ones who will succeed.

105. Don't be like those who became divided and argued after clear proofs came to them. For them, there's a great punishment.

106. On the Day when some faces will shine bright, and some faces will turn dark — those whose faces turn dark will be told, "Did you reject faith after believing? Now taste the punishment for rejecting the truth."

107. But those whose faces shine bright — they are in Allah's mercy, staying there forever.

108. These are Allah's verses that We recite to you in truth. Allah never wants to be unfair to anyone in the world.

109. Everything in the heavens and the earth belongs to Allah, and all things will return to Him.

110. You are the best community brought out for people — you encourage what is good, stop what is wrong, and believe in Allah. If the People of the Book had believed, it would have been better for them. Some of them are believers, but most of them disobey.

111. They can't harm you beyond some hurtful words. If they fight you, they'll turn their backs and run away — then they'll have no help.

112. Shame covers them wherever they go, except when they hold onto a promise from Allah or a promise from people. They've earned Allah's anger, and misery has been placed upon them. This is because they rejected Allah's verses and unjustly killed the prophets. It's because they disobeyed and crossed the limits.

113. But they're not all the same. Among the People of the Book, there's a group who stand firm — they recite Allah's verses during the night and bow down in prayer.

114. They believe in Allah and the Last Day, encourage what's good, stop what's wrong, and rush to do good deeds. They're among the righteous.

115. Whatever good they do won't be ignored. Allah knows those who are mindful of Him.

116. Those who disbelieve — their wealth and children won't help them at all against Allah. They're the people of the Fire, and they'll stay there forever.

117. What they spend in this worldly life is like a freezing wind that hits the crops of people who've wronged themselves, destroying everything. Allah didn't wrong them — they wronged themselves.

118. Believers, don't take outsiders as your close friends — they won't stop trying to harm you. They wish you'd suffer. Hatred has already come out of their mouths, but what their hearts hide is even worse. We've made the verses clear for you, if you understand.

119. Here you are — you love them, but they don't love you. You believe in the whole Book. When they meet you, they say, "We believe," but when they're alone, they bite their fingertips in anger against you. Say, "Die in your anger." Allah knows what's hidden in people's hearts.

120. If something good happens to you, it upsets them, but if trouble comes your way, they're happy about it. If you're patient and mindful of Allah, their plots won't harm you at all. Allah surrounds everything they do.

121. Remember when you left your family early in the morning to position the believers for battle — and Allah hears and knows everything.

122. At that time, two groups among you almost lost courage, but Allah was their protector. So let the believers put their trust in Allah.

123. Allah certainly helped you at Badr, when you were weak and few. So always be mindful of Allah, so you may be thankful.

124. Remember when you said to the believers, "Isn't it enough that your Lord will send down three thousand angels to help you?"

125. Yes! If you stay patient, mindful of Allah, and the enemy suddenly attacks you, your Lord will support you with five thousand clearly marked angels.

126. Allah made this promise only as good news for you, and to reassure your hearts. Victory comes only from Allah — the Mighty, the Wise.

127. He did this to defeat a part of the disbelievers, or to humble them, so they would turn back disappointed.

128. You have no say in this matter — Allah may forgive them or punish them, for they have done wrong.

129. Everything in the heavens and the earth belongs to Allah. He forgives whoever He wills and punishes whoever He wills. Allah is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.

130. Believers, do not take interest, multiplying your wealth unfairly. Be mindful of Allah, so you may succeed.

131. Protect yourselves from the Fire prepared for those who reject the truth.

132. Obey Allah and the Messenger, so you may receive mercy.

133. Hurry toward forgiveness from your Lord and a Garden as wide as the heavens and the earth, prepared for those who are mindful of Allah.

134. Those who give generously in good times and hard times, who control their anger and forgive others — Allah loves those who do good.

135. And those who, when they do something shameful or wrong themselves, remember Allah and ask forgiveness for their sins — who forgives sins except Allah? — and they do not knowingly continue doing wrong.

136. Their reward is forgiveness from their Lord and Gardens with rivers flowing beneath, where they will live forever. What a wonderful reward for those who do good!

137. Many ways of life have passed away before you, so travel through the land and see what happened to those who rejected the truth.

138. This is a clear message to all people, and guidance and advice for those mindful of Allah.

139. Do not lose heart or feel sad — you will be the highest, if you truly believe.

140. If you are hurt, remember others have been hurt just like you. These days of ups and downs, We give them to people in turns, so Allah may clearly show who truly believes and choose some of you as witnesses. Allah does not love those who do wrong.

141. And so Allah may purify those who believe and remove those who reject the truth.

142. Did you think you would enter Paradise without Allah clearly seeing who among you struggled and who stayed patient?

143. You used to wish for death before you faced it — now you have seen it with your own eyes.

144. Muhammad is only a messenger, and many messengers passed away before him. If he dies or is killed, will you turn back on your heels? Anyone who turns back won't harm Allah at all, and Allah will surely reward those who are thankful.

145. No one can die except by Allah's permission, at a fixed time. Whoever wants rewards in this world, We give him some of it, and whoever wants rewards in the Hereafter, We give him some of it. And We will surely reward those who are thankful.

146. Many prophets fought alongside faithful believers, who never lost heart because of what happened to them in Allah's way. They didn't weaken or give up, and Allah loves those who stay patient.

147. Their only words were, "Our Lord, forgive our sins and our mistakes, keep our feet steady, and help us against the disbelieving people."

148. So Allah gave them rewards in this world, and the best rewards in the Hereafter. And Allah loves those who do good.

149. Believers, if you obey those who disbelieve, they'll turn you back on your heels, and you'll end up losing.

150. But Allah is your protector, and He is the best helper.

151. We will put fear into the hearts of those who disbelieve, because they worshiped others alongside Allah, something He never gave permission for. Their home will be the Fire — and what a terrible place for wrongdoers!

152. Allah truly kept His promise to you, when you were defeating your enemies by His permission. But then you lost courage, argued about the orders, and disobeyed after He showed you what you loved. Some of you wanted this world, and some wanted the Hereafter. Then He turned you away from them to test you, but He has already forgiven you. Allah is full of kindness toward the believers.

153. Remember when you were running away, not looking back at anyone, while the Messenger was calling you from behind. So Allah gave you sadness upon sadness, so you wouldn't grieve over what you missed or what happened to you. Allah knows everything you do.

154. Then, after the sadness, He sent down peaceful sleep upon some of you, calming your hearts. But others were worried only about themselves, thinking wrongly about Allah, like the thoughts of ignorance. They said, "Do we have any say in this matter?" Say, "All matters belong to Allah." They hide in their hearts what they don't show you, saying, "If we had any say, we wouldn't have been killed here." Say, "Even if you had stayed in your homes, those destined to be killed would have gone out to their deaths." Allah tests what's in your hearts, and He purifies what's inside you. Allah knows exactly what's in everyone's heart.

155. Those of you who turned away on the day the two armies met — Satan made them slip because of some wrong things they had done. But Allah has already forgiven them. Truly, Allah is forgiving and patient.

156. Believers, don't be like those who disbelieve and say about their brothers who travel or go out to fight, "If they had stayed with us, they wouldn't have died or been killed." Allah makes these thoughts a sadness in their hearts. It is Allah Who gives life and causes death, and Allah sees everything you do.

157. If you are killed or die for Allah's cause, then Allah's forgiveness and kindness are far better than anything they gather.

158. And whether you die or are killed, you will surely be gathered back to Allah.

159. It was because of Allah's kindness that you were gentle with them. If you had been harsh or hard-hearted, they would have scattered away from you. So forgive them, ask Allah to forgive them, and talk things over with them. Then, when you have decided, trust in Allah. Certainly, Allah loves those who trust in Him.

160. If Allah helps you, no one can defeat you. But if He leaves you without help, who else can help you after Him? So let the believers put their trust in Allah.

161. It is not right for any prophet to deceive. Whoever deceives will bring whatever he took wrongly on the Day of Judgment. Then every soul will be given exactly what it earned, and no one will be treated unfairly.

162. Can someone who follows what pleases Allah be like someone who earns Allah's anger and whose home is Hell? What a terrible place to end up!

163. They have different levels with Allah, and Allah sees clearly everything they do.

164. Allah has truly blessed the believers by sending them a messenger from among themselves, who recites His verses to them, purifies them, and teaches them the Book and wisdom. Before this, they were clearly lost.

165. When a disaster struck you, even though you had previously inflicted twice as many losses on them, you asked, "Why did this happen?" Say, "It came from your own selves." Allah has power over everything.

166. What happened to you on the day the two armies met was by Allah's permission, so He could clearly show who the true believers are.

167. And clearly show who the hypocrites are. When they were told, "Come and fight for Allah's cause, or at least defend yourselves," they said, "If we knew how to fight, we would have followed you." On that day, they were closer to disbelief than belief. They say with their mouths what isn't in their hearts, but Allah knows exactly what they hide.

168. They are the ones who stayed behind and said about their brothers, "If they had listened to us, they wouldn't have been killed." Say, "Then keep death away from yourselves, if you're telling the truth."

169. Never think that those who were killed in Allah's way are dead. No, they are alive with their Lord, receiving blessings.

170. They are joyful because of what Allah has given them from His kindness, and they feel happy for those who haven't joined them yet — knowing those left behind won't have any fear or sadness.

171. They celebrate the blessings and kindness from Allah, and they know that Allah never wastes the reward of the believers.

172. Those who answered Allah and the Messenger even after they were hurt — those who did good and stayed mindful of Allah — will have a great reward.

173. When people said to them, "Everyone has gathered against you, so be afraid," it only increased their faith, and they said, "Allah is enough for us, and He is the best protector."

174. So they returned with blessings and kindness from Allah, untouched by harm, and they followed what pleases Allah. Allah is the source of great blessings.

175. It is only Satan who tries to scare you through his friends. Don't fear them — fear Me, if you truly believe.

176. Don't let those who rush toward disbelief make you sad. They can't harm Allah at all. Allah wants them to have no share in the Hereafter, and they will have a painful punishment.

177. Those who traded their faith for disbelief can't harm Allah at all, and they will have a terrible punishment.

178. Those who disbelieve shouldn't think the extra time We give them is good for them. We only give them more time so they can increase their wrongdoing, and they will have a humiliating punishment.

179. Allah wouldn't leave the believers as you are now, until He separates the bad from the good. Allah wouldn't show you the unseen, but He chooses from His messengers whoever He wants. So believe in Allah and His messengers. If you believe and stay mindful of Allah, you'll have a great reward.

180. Those who are stingy with what Allah has given them shouldn't think it's good for them. Actually, it's bad for them. On the Day of Judgment, they'll be surrounded by whatever they were stingy with. Allah owns everything in the heavens and the earth, and Allah knows exactly what you do.

181. Allah has certainly heard the words of those who said, "Allah is poor, and we are rich." We will record what they said, and their unjust killing of the prophets, and We will say, "Taste the punishment of the burning Fire!"

182. This is because of what your own hands have done, and because Allah is never unjust to His servants.

183. They are the same people who said, "Allah made us promise not to believe any messenger unless he brings us an offering that fire consumes." Say, "Messengers before me came to you with clear signs and even with what you asked for — so why did you kill them, if you are telling the truth?"

184. If they reject you, remember that messengers before you were also rejected, even though they came with clear signs, holy writings, and the enlightening Scripture.

185. Every soul will taste death, and you will only receive your full reward on the Day of Judgment. Whoever is kept away from the Fire and allowed into Paradise has truly succeeded. The life of this world is nothing but a temporary illusion.

186. You will surely be tested through your wealth and yourselves, and you will definitely hear many hurtful things from those who received the Scripture before you and from those who worship idols. But if you stay patient and mindful of Allah, that is truly a sign of strong character.

187. Remember when Allah took a promise from those who received the Scripture, saying, "You must clearly explain it to people and never hide it." But they threw it behind their backs and traded it away for a small price. What a terrible trade they made!

188. Do not think that those who are happy about what they have done and love to be praised for things they never did — do not think they will escape punishment. They will have a painful punishment.

189. To Allah belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth, and Allah has power over everything.

190. Certainly, in the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the changing of night and day, there are signs for people who think deeply.

191. They remember Allah while standing, sitting, and lying down, and they reflect on the creation of the heavens and the earth, saying, "Our Lord, You didn't create all this without purpose. Glory be to You! Protect us from the punishment of the Fire."

192. "Our Lord, whoever You send into the Fire, You have truly disgraced them, and those who do wrong will have no helpers."

193. "Our Lord, we heard a caller inviting us to faith, saying, 'Believe in your Lord,' and we believed. Our Lord, forgive us our sins, erase our mistakes, and let us die among the good people."

194. "Our Lord, give us what You promised us through Your messengers, and don't disgrace us on the Day of Judgment. You never break Your promise."

195. So their Lord answered them, "I will never waste the efforts of anyone among you, male or female — you all belong to one another. Those who left their homes, were driven out, suffered harm for My sake, fought, and were killed — I will surely erase their mistakes and bring them into gardens with rivers flowing beneath, a reward from Allah. And Allah has the best reward."

196. Don't let the success of those who disbelieve, moving freely through the land, deceive you.

197. Their enjoyment is short, and then their home will be Hell — a terrible resting place.

198. But those who are mindful of their Lord will have gardens with rivers flowing beneath, staying there forever — a welcome gift from Allah. And what Allah has is best for the good people.

199. Certainly, some people of the Scripture believe in Allah, in what was revealed to you, and in what was revealed to them. They humble themselves before Allah and don't trade Allah's verses for a small price. They will have their reward with their Lord. Allah is quick in settling accounts.

200. Believers, be patient, stay strong, stand firm, and be mindful of Allah, so that you may succeed.
