In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Kind.
1. Successful indeed are the believers.
2. Those who pray humbly and sincerely.
3. Those who turn away from useless talk.
4. Those who give charity regularly.
5. Those who guard their private parts.
6. Except with their spouses or those under their care — for then they are free from blame.
7. But whoever seeks beyond that — those are the ones who cross the limits.
8. Those who faithfully keep their trusts and promises.
9. And those who carefully maintain their prayers.
10. These are the ones who will inherit.
11. They will inherit Paradise, where they will live forever.
12. We created the human being from an essence of clay.
13. Then We placed him as a tiny drop in a safe resting place.
14. Then We turned the tiny drop into a clinging form, then turned that form into a lump of flesh, then turned that lump into bones, then covered the bones with flesh, and then shaped it into a new creation — blessed is Allah, the best of creators!
15. After all this, you will surely die.
16. Then, on the Day of Judgment, you will be raised again.
17. We created above you seven paths, and We never neglect Our creation.
18. We send down water from the sky in just the right amount, and We store it in the earth — We certainly have the power to take it away.
19. With it, We grow gardens of palm trees and grapevines for you — filled with many fruits for you to eat.
20. And a tree that grows on Mount Sinai, producing oil and seasoning for those who eat.
21. And surely, in cattle, there's a lesson for you: We give you drink from what is inside them, and you gain many benefits from them, and from them you eat.
22. And on them, and on ships, you are carried.
23. We sent Noah to his people, and he said, "My people, worship Allah alone — you have no other god but Him. Won't you be mindful of Him?"
24. But the leaders who disbelieved among his people said, "This man is just a human like you, trying to make himself better than you. If Allah wanted, He would have sent angels instead. We've never heard anything like this from our ancestors."
25. "He's only a man who's lost his mind — just wait and see what happens to him."
26. Noah prayed, "My Lord, help me, because they've called me a liar."
27. So We inspired him, "Build the ark under Our watchful eyes and guidance. When Our command comes, and the water bursts from the oven, take on board pairs of every kind, and your family — except those already judged. And don't speak to Me about those who did wrong — they'll surely drown."
28. When you and those with you are safely on the ark, say, "Praise belongs to Allah, Who saved us from those unjust people."
29. And pray, "My Lord, let me land in a blessed place — You are the best to bring us safely ashore."
30. In this story are clear lessons, and We certainly test people.
31. After them, We brought another generation into being.
32. We sent a messenger from among them, saying, "Worship Allah alone — you have no other god but Him. Won't you be mindful of Him?"
33. But the leaders among his people — who disbelieved, denied the meeting of the Hereafter, and enjoyed comfort in this worldly life — said, "This man is just a human like you. He eats what you eat and drinks what you drink."
34. "If you obey a human just like yourselves, you'll definitely be losers."
35. "Does he promise you that after you die and become dust and bones, you'll be brought back to life?"
36. "Impossible, impossible — what you're promised will never happen."
37. "There's nothing beyond our life in this world — we live, we die, and we'll never be raised again."
38. "He's just a man making up lies about Allah, and we'll never believe him."
39. The messenger prayed, "My Lord, help me, because they've called me a liar."
40. Allah answered, "Soon they'll surely regret it."
41. Then a mighty blast struck them with justice, and We swept them away like dried-up leaves — away with those unjust people!
42. Then after them, We raised other generations.
43. No community can hurry its appointed time, nor delay it.
44. Then We sent Our messengers, one after another. Every time a messenger came to a community, they called him a liar. So We destroyed them, one after another, and made them stories of the past — away with people who don't believe!
45. Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our clear signs and strong proof.
46. To Pharaoh and his leaders — but they were arrogant, proud people.
47. They said, "Should we believe two humans like us, whose people are our slaves?"
48. So they rejected them, and they became among those destroyed.
49. We gave Moses the Scripture, so his people might find the right way.
50. And We made Mary's son and his mother a miraculous sign, and sheltered them on a peaceful hillside with flowing water.
51. Messengers, eat from the good, pure things and do good deeds. I truly know everything you do.
52. And this community of yours is one community, and I am your Lord, so fear Me.
53. But they divided themselves into different groups, each group happy with what it had.
54. So leave them lost in their confusion for a while.
55. Do they think that when We give them wealth and children.
56. We're rushing to reward them with good things? No, they don't realize.
57. Those who tremble with fear of their Lord.
58. Who believe in their Lord's verses.
59. Who never associate partners with their Lord.
60. And who give what they give, with hearts full of worry, knowing they'll return to their Lord.
61. They rush to do good things, and they're the first to reach them.
62. We never ask anyone to do more than they can handle. And with Us is a record that speaks the truth, and no one will be treated unfairly.
63. But their hearts are lost in confusion about this, and they have other deeds they'll keep doing.
64. Until We seize their wealthy ones with punishment — then they'll cry out for help.
65. "Don't cry out today! You won't get any help from Us.
66. My verses used to be recited to you, but you'd turn your backs.
67. Arrogantly turning away from them, gathering at night to talk nonsense.
68. Haven't they thought carefully about this message? Or has something come to them that never came to their ancestors?
69. Or don't they recognize their Messenger, so they reject him?
70. Or do they say, "He's crazy"? No, he brought them the truth, but most of them hate the truth.
71. If the truth followed their desires, the heavens, the earth, and everyone in them would be ruined. Instead, We brought them their reminder, but they turn away from their reminder.
72. Or are you asking them for payment? Your Lord's reward is far better, and He's the best provider.
73. And you're definitely calling them to a straight path.
74. But those who don't believe in the Hereafter are turning away from the path.
75. Even if We showed them mercy and removed their troubles, they'd still stubbornly wander in their wrongdoing.
76. We already punished them, but they didn't humble themselves before their Lord, nor did they pray sincerely.
77. Until We open for them a gate of severe punishment — then they'll fall into complete despair.
78. He is the One Who created for you hearing, sight, and hearts — yet you hardly give thanks.
79. He is the One Who spread you across earth, and to Him you will all be gathered together.
80. He is the One Who gives life and causes death, and He controls the changing of night and day — won't you understand?
81. But instead, they say the same things people long ago said.
82. They say, "When we die and become dust and bones, will we really be brought back to life?
83. We were promised this before — we and our ancestors. These are just old stories from the past."
84. Say, "Who owns the earth and everyone on it, if you truly know?"
85. They will say, "Allah." Say, "Then won't you remember?"
86. Say, "Who is the Lord of the seven heavens and the Lord of the mighty throne?"
87. They will say, "Allah." Say, "Then won't you be mindful of Him?"
88. Say, "Who holds control over everything, protecting all while none can protect against Him, if you truly know?"
89. They will say, "Allah." Say, "Then how can you be so misled?"
90. In fact, We brought them the truth, but they are surely lying.
91. Allah never had a child, nor is there any other god with Him. If there had been, each god would have taken away what he created, and some would have tried to overpower others. Glory to Allah — He is far above what they say about Him!
92. He knows everything hidden and everything visible — He is high above the partners they set up with Him.
93. Say, "My Lord, if You show me what they have been promised.
94. My Lord, then don't place me among the wrongdoing people."
95. We certainly have the power to show you what We have promised them.
96. Respond to evil with what is best. We know exactly what they say.
97. And say, "My Lord, I seek Your protection from the whispers of the devils.
98. And I seek Your protection, my Lord, from their presence near me."
99. Until, when death comes to one of them, he cries, "My Lord, send me back.
100. So I can do good in the life I left behind!" But no — it is only words he says. And ahead of them is a barrier, until the Day they are raised.
101. When the trumpet is blown, all family ties between them will be cut off, and they won't even ask about one another.
102. Those whose good deeds weigh heavily — these are the successful ones.
103. But those whose good deeds are light — they've lost themselves, staying forever in Hellfire.
104. The fire will burn their faces, leaving them twisted in pain.
105. "Weren't My verses recited to you, yet you called them lies?"
106. They'll say, "Our Lord, our misery overcame us, and we were people who lost our way.
107. Our Lord, take us out of here! If we go back to our old ways, then we'd truly be wrongdoers."
108. He will say, "Stay in there, disgraced, and don't speak to Me.
109. Some of My servants used to say, 'Our Lord, we believe, so forgive us and have mercy on us — You are the best of those who show mercy.'
110. But you used to make fun of them, until they made you forget about remembering Me — and you used to laugh at them.
111. Today, I've rewarded them for their patience — they are the true winners."
112. He will ask, "How many years did you stay on earth?"
113. They will say, "We stayed a day, or maybe part of a day — ask those who kept count."
114. He will say, "You stayed only a short while, if only you had known.
115. Did you really think We created you without purpose, and that you wouldn't return to Us?"
116. So exalted is Allah, the true King — there is no god except Him, Lord of the noble throne.
117. Whoever worships another god besides Allah — with no proof for it — will surely answer to his Lord. The disbelievers will never succeed.
118. And say, "My Lord, forgive and have mercy — You are the best of those who show mercy."
