In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Kind.

1. The time when people will be judged is coming closer, yet they turn away, lost in carelessness.

2. Whenever a new reminder comes to them from their Lord, they listen to it — but they're busy playing around.

3. Their hearts are distracted. Those who do wrong secretly whisper to each other, "Isn't he just a human like you? Will you follow magic, even though you can clearly see?"

4. The Prophet said, "My Lord knows every word spoken in the heavens and on earth, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing."

5. But they say, "These are just confused dreams," or "He made it all up," or "He's a poet. Let him bring us a miracle, like the ones sent to people long ago."

6. No town that We destroyed before them ever believed — so will these people believe?

7. We only sent men before you, revealing Our message to them. Ask those who know the earlier scriptures if you don't know.

8. We didn't make those messengers bodies that didn't need food, nor did they live forever.

9. Then We kept Our promise to them: We saved them and those We chose, and destroyed those who went too far.

10. We've sent down to you a Book with your reminder — won't you understand?

11. How many towns that did wrong have We completely crushed, and then raised up new people after them!

12. When they felt Our punishment coming, they tried to run away from their towns.

13. But they were told, "Don't run! Go back to your easy lives and homes — maybe you'll be questioned."

14. They cried out, "Oh no! We were truly wrong!"

15. They kept repeating this cry until We made them like a harvested field, silent and lifeless.

16. We didn't create the sky and the earth and everything in between just for fun.

17. If We ever wanted amusement, We could have found it within Ourselves — if We were ever to do that.

18. Instead, We throw the truth against falsehood, and it crushes it — then falsehood quickly disappears. How terrible for you because of the things you say!

19. Everyone in the heavens and earth belongs to Him. Those who are close to Him never feel too proud to worship Him, nor do they ever get tired.

20. They praise Him night and day, without ever stopping.

21. Or have they chosen gods from the earth who can bring the dead back to life?

22. If there had been other gods besides Allah in the heavens and the earth, both would have fallen into ruin. Glory to Allah, Lord of the Throne, far above what they say about Him!

23. He isn't questioned about what He does — but they will be questioned.

24. Or have they taken other gods besides Him? Say, "Bring your proof! This is the message given to those with me, and the message given to those before me." But most of them don't know the truth, so they turn away.

25. We never sent any messenger before you without revealing to him, "There is no god but Me, so worship Me alone."

26. Yet they say, "The Most Merciful has a child." Glory to Him! No, they are honored servants.

27. They never speak ahead of Him, and they act only by His command.

28. He knows what's ahead of them and what's behind them. They don't intercede for anyone except those He approves, and they tremble in awe of Him.

29. If any of them were to say, "I'm a god besides Him," We would repay him with Hell. That's how We repay those who do wrong.

30. Don't the disbelievers see that the heavens and the earth were once joined together, then We split them apart? And We made every living thing from water. Won't they then believe?

31. And We placed firm mountains on the earth so it wouldn't shake beneath them, and We made wide paths through it, so they might find their way.

32. And We made the sky a protected roof, yet they still turn away from its signs.

33. He is the One Who created the night and the day, the sun and the moon — each floating in its own orbit.

34. We never gave eternal life to any human before you. So if you die, will they live forever?

35. Every soul will taste death. We test you with both bad and good times, as a trial — and in the end, you will return to Us.

36. When those who disbelieve see you, they only make fun of you, saying, "Is this the one who talks badly about your gods?" Yet they themselves reject any mention of the Most Merciful.

37. Humans were created impatient. Soon I will show you My signs, so don't rush Me.

38. They keep asking, "When will this promise come true, if you're telling the truth?"

39. If only those who disbelieve knew — when they won't be able to keep the fire away from their faces or their backs, and no one will help them.

40. Instead, it will come to them suddenly, shocking them completely. They won't be able to stop it, nor will they be given more time.

41. Messengers before you were also mocked, but in the end, the very thing they laughed at surrounded and punished those who mocked them.

42. Say, "Who protects you, night and day, from the Most Merciful?" But they turn away from remembering their Lord.

43. Or do they have other gods who can protect them from Us? Those false gods can't even help themselves, nor will they be supported by Us.

44. We gave these people and their ancestors many comforts, until their lives grew long. Don't they see how We gradually reduce the land from its edges? Do they really think they'll win?

45. Say, "I only warn you through revelation." But the deaf can't hear the call when they're warned.

46. Even if just a breath of your Lord's punishment touched them, they'd cry out, "How terrible for us! We were truly wrong!"

47. On the Day of Judgment, We will set up fair scales, and no one will be treated unfairly at all. Even if it's as small as a mustard seed, We will bring it forward — and We are enough to take account of everything.

48. We gave Moses and Aaron the way to tell right from wrong, a shining light, and a reminder for those who are mindful of Allah.

49. Those who fear their Lord even though they can't see Him, and who deeply fear the Hour of Judgment.

50. And this Quran is a blessed reminder that We have sent down — so will you reject it?

51. Long ago, We gave Abraham sound judgment, and We knew him well.

52. Remember when he asked his father and his people, "What are these statues that you are so devoted to?"

53. They said, "We found our parents worshiping them."

54. He said, "You and your parents were obviously lost."

55. They asked, "Are you serious, or are you just joking?"

56. He answered, "No, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Who created them, and I am a witness to this truth."

57. "By Allah, I will surely plan something against your idols after you leave."

58. So he smashed them into pieces, except for the biggest one, so they might come back to it.

59. They said, "Who did this to our gods? He's definitely done something wrong!"

60. Some said, "We heard a young man named Abraham talking about them."

61. They said, "Bring him in front of everyone, so they can witness it."

62. They asked, "Abraham, did you do this to our gods?"

63. He replied, "Actually, the biggest one did it. Why don't you ask them — if they can speak?"

64. They thought deeply and said to themselves, "You are the ones who are wrong."

65. But then they turned stubborn again and said, "You know these idols can't speak!"

66. Abraham said, "Then why do you worship something besides Allah that can't help or harm you at all?"

67. "Shame on you, and on what you worship besides Allah! Don't you think clearly?"

68. They shouted, "Burn him and defend your gods, if you're going to do anything!"

69. But We said, "O fire, be cool and safe for Abraham."

70. They planned to harm him, but We made them the biggest losers.

71. We saved Abraham and Lot, bringing them safely to the land We blessed for all people.

72. And We gave Abraham Isaac, and Jacob as an additional gift, and We made all of them righteous.

73. We made them leaders who guided others by Our command, and We inspired them to do good deeds, pray regularly, and give charity — and they worshiped Us faithfully.

74. And to Lot, We gave wisdom and knowledge, and saved him from the town that was doing terrible things. They were truly wicked and disobedient people.

75. We brought Lot into Our mercy — he was truly one of the righteous.

76. And remember Noah, when he called out to Us long ago. We answered him and saved him and his family from great distress.

77. We supported him against the people who rejected Our signs. They were truly wicked people, so We drowned them all.

78. And remember David and Solomon, when they judged a case about a field damaged by people's sheep wandering into it — and We were witnesses to their judgment.

79. We made Solomon understand the case clearly, and We gave both of them wisdom and knowledge. We made the mountains and birds join David in praising Allah — it was We Who did all this.

80. And We taught David how to make armor for you, to protect you in battle. So, will you be thankful?

81. And for Solomon, We made the strong wind serve him, going wherever he commanded, to the land We had blessed. We have full knowledge of everything.

82. And among the devils, some dived deep into the sea for him, and they did other tasks as well. And We kept watch over them.

83. And remember Job, when he called out to his Lord, "Pain has truly touched me, but You are the most merciful of all who show mercy."

84. So We answered his prayer and removed his suffering. We gave him back his family, and even more with them — as a mercy from Us, and a reminder for all who worship.

85. And remember Ishmael, Idris, and Dhul-Kifl — each one was patient.

86. We brought them into Our mercy. They were truly among the righteous.

87. And remember the man of the whale, when he left angrily, thinking We wouldn't have control over him. Then, from deep darkness, he cried out, "There is no god except You! Glory to You! I was truly among the wrongdoers!"

88. So We answered him and saved him from distress. And this is how We save all who believe.

89. And remember Zachariah, when he called out to his Lord, "My Lord, don't leave me alone without a child — You are the best of inheritors."

90. So We answered him, gave him John, and healed his wife. They always rushed to do good deeds, called on Us with hope and fear, and were humble before Us.

91. And remember the one who guarded her purity. We breathed into her from Our spirit, and made her and her son a miracle for all people.

92. Truly, this community of yours is one single community, and I am your Lord — so worship Me alone.

93. But the people divided themselves into different groups. Yet all of them will return to Us.

94. Whoever does good deeds while believing, their efforts will never go unnoticed. We are surely recording everything they do.

95. It's forbidden for any town We destroyed to return.

96. Until Gog and Magog are let loose, and they rush down swiftly from every hill.

97. And when the true promise draws near, the disbelievers' eyes will stare wide open in shock, saying, "Oh no! We were completely unaware of this! In fact, we were wrongdoers!"

98. Truly, you and whatever you worship besides Allah will be fuel for Hell — you will surely enter it.

99. If those idols had really been gods, they wouldn't have entered Hell. But all of them will remain there forever.

100. In Hell, they will groan loudly, and there they won't hear anything else.

101. But those who have already been promised good by Us — they will be kept far away from Hell.

102. They won't even hear its slightest sound, and they will enjoy forever whatever their hearts desire.

103. The greatest terror won't frighten them, and the angels will welcome them, saying, "This is your Day — the Day you were promised!"

104. On that Day, We will roll up the sky like rolling up a scroll. Just as We created everything the first time, We will bring it back again. This is a promise from Us, and We will surely do it.

105. And We have written clearly in the Psalms, after the earlier Scripture, that My righteous servants will inherit the earth.

106. Truly, in this is a clear message for people who worship Allah.

107. We sent you only as a mercy for all people.

108. Say, "It has been revealed to me that your God is only One God. So will you submit to Him?"

109. But if they turn away, say, "I have warned you all equally. And I don't know if what you've been promised is near or far."

110. He knows what you say openly, and He knows what you hide.

111. And I don't know — perhaps this delay is a test for you, and a chance to enjoy yourselves for a little while.

112. He said, "My Lord, judge with truth. Our Lord is the Most Merciful, whose help we seek against what you claim."
