In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Kind.

1. Kaf. Ha. Ya. Ayn. Saad.

2. This is the story of your Lord's mercy to His servant Zechariah.

3. When he called out to his Lord secretly, in a quiet voice.

4. He said, "My Lord, my bones have grown weak, and my hair has turned completely gray, but I've never been disappointed when praying to You, my Lord.

5. I'm worried about those who will come after me, and my wife can't have children, so please grant me someone from You to take care of things after me.

6. Who will inherit from me and inherit from Jacob's family, and make him pleasing to You, my Lord."

7. "Zechariah, We bring you good news of a son named John — a name We've never given anyone before."

8. He said, "My Lord, how can I have a son when my wife can't have children, and I've become extremely old?"

9. He replied, "That's how it'll be. Your Lord says, 'It's easy for Me — I created you before, when you were nothing.'"

10. Zechariah said, "My Lord, give me a sign." He said, "Your sign is that you won't speak to people for three nights, even though you're healthy."

11. So he went out to his people from the prayer room, and signaled to them to praise Allah morning and evening.

12. "John, hold firmly to the Scripture." And We gave him wisdom even as a child.

13. And tenderness from Us, and purity — he was deeply mindful of Allah.

14. And kind to his parents — he wasn't harsh or disobedient.

15. Peace was upon him the day he was born, the day he dies, and the day he'll be raised back to life.

16. And mention Mary in the Scripture, when she withdrew from her family to a place in the east.

17. She placed a screen between herself and them. Then We sent Our Spirit to her, and he appeared before her as a complete human being.

18. She said, "I seek protection with the Most Merciful from you, if you are Allah-fearing."

19. He said, "I am only a messenger from your Lord, to give you the gift of a pure son."

20. She said, "How can I have a son when no man has touched me, and I've never been unchaste?"

21. He replied, "That's how it'll be. Your Lord says, 'It's easy for Me, and We'll make him a sign for people and a mercy from Us.' This matter has already been decided."

22. So she became pregnant with him, and she went far away to a distant place.

23. Then the pains of childbirth drove her to the trunk of a palm tree. She cried out, "Oh, I wish I had died before this and been completely forgotten!"

24. But a voice called to her from below her, "Don't be sad! Your Lord has placed a stream beneath you.

25. Shake the trunk of the palm tree toward you, and fresh, ripe dates will fall down for you.

26. Eat, drink, and comfort your heart. And if you see anyone, just say, 'I have promised the Most Merciful a fast, so today I won't speak to any human.'"

27. Then she returned to her people, carrying the baby. They said, "Mary, you've done something outrageous!

28. Sister of Aaron, your father wasn't a bad man, and your mother wasn't sinful!"

29. So she pointed to the baby. They said, "How can we speak to a child who's still in the cradle?"

30. He said, "I am the servant of Allah. He has given me the Scripture and made me a Prophet.

31. And He has made me blessed wherever I am, and He has commanded me to pray and give charity as long as I live.

32. And to be kind to my mother, and He didn't make me arrogant or miserable.

33. Peace is upon me the day I was born, the day I die, and the day I am raised back to life."

34. That is Jesus, son of Mary — the statement of truth about which they dispute.

35. It isn't right for Allah to have a child. Glory to Him! When He decides something, He simply says, "Be," and it is.

36. And Jesus said, "Allah is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. This is the straight path."

37. But different groups disagreed among themselves. So how terrible it will be for those who disbelieve when they see the great Day!

38. How clearly they'll hear and see on the Day they come to Us! But today, those who do wrong are clearly lost.

39. Warn them about the Day of Regret, when everything will be decided, yet they pay no attention and don't believe.

40. It is We Who will inherit the earth and everyone on it, and to Us they will all return.

41. And mention Abraham in the Book. He was truthful and a prophet.

42. He said to his father, "Dear father, why do you worship things that can't hear, can't see, and can't help you at all?

43. Dear father, I've received knowledge that you haven't received, so follow me — I'll guide you to a straight path.

44. Dear father, don't worship Satan. Satan has always disobeyed the Most Merciful.

45. Dear father, I'm afraid that punishment from the Most Merciful might touch you, and you'll become a friend of Satan."

46. His father said, "Are you turning away from my gods, Abraham? If you don't stop, I'll stone you — so leave me alone for good!"

47. Abraham said, "Peace be upon you. I'll ask my Lord to forgive you — He has always been kind to me.

48. I'll leave you all and whatever you worship besides Allah, and I'll pray to my Lord. I hope my prayers to my Lord won't leave me disappointed."

49. After he left them and what they worshiped besides Allah, We gave him Isaac and Jacob, and made each of them a prophet.

50. We gave them Our mercy, and granted them a high and truthful reputation.

51. Mention Moses in the Book. He was sincere, a messenger, and a prophet.

52. We called out to him from the right side of Mount Sinai, and brought him close to speak with Us.

53. Out of Our mercy, We gave him his brother Aaron as a prophet.

54. Mention Ishmael in the Book. He kept his promises, and was a messenger and a prophet.

55. He always told his family to pray and give charity, and his Lord was pleased with him.

56. Mention Idris in the Book. He was truthful and a prophet.

57. We raised him to a high position.

58. These were the prophets Allah blessed — from Adam's descendants, from those We carried with Noah, from Abraham and Israel's descendants, and from those We guided and chose. When the verses of the Most Merciful were recited to them, they fell down, bowing and crying.

59. But after them came people who neglected prayer and followed their desires. Soon they'll face the consequences.

60. Except those who repent, believe, and do good deeds — they'll enter Paradise and won't be treated unfairly at all.

61. Gardens of Eden, which the Most Merciful promised His servants in the unseen. His promise will definitely come true.

62. There, they'll hear no useless talk — only peaceful words. They'll have their provision there, morning and evening.

63. This is the Paradise We give to those servants who were mindful of Allah.

64. "We angels only come down by your Lord's command. Everything before us, behind us, and in between belongs to Him. Your Lord never forgets."

65. He is Lord of the heavens and the earth and everything between them. So worship Him, and patiently continue worshiping Him. Do you know anyone equal to Him?

66. And the human says, "When I die, will I really be brought back to life?"

67. Doesn't the human remember that We created him before, when he was nothing at all?

68. By your Lord, We will surely gather them together, along with the devils, and then We will bring them around Hell, kneeling.

69. Then, from every group, We will pull out those who were most stubborn in rebelling against the Most Merciful.

70. And We truly know best who deserves most to enter it and burn there.

71. Every single one of you will pass over it — this is a promise from your Lord that must be fulfilled.

72. Then We will save those who were mindful of Allah, and leave the wrongdoers there, kneeling.

73. When Our clear verses are recited to them, the disbelievers say to the believers, "Which of our two groups has a better position and a finer gathering?"

74. But how many generations before them have We destroyed — people who had nicer belongings and looked better?

75. Say, "Whoever is lost, the Most Merciful will let them continue in their ways — until they finally see what they were promised, either punishment or the Hour. Then they'll know who is in a worse place, and who has the weakest helpers."

76. And Allah increases guidance for those who follow the right path. Good deeds that last are better with your Lord as a reward, and better as an outcome.

77. Have you seen the one who rejects Our verses and says, "I'll definitely be given wealth and children"?

78. Has he seen the unseen, or has he made a promise with the Most Merciful?

79. Certainly not! We'll write down everything he says, and We'll extend his punishment further and further.

80. And We'll inherit everything he boasts about, and he'll come to Us all alone.

81. They have taken other gods besides Allah, hoping they'll give them honor.

82. Certainly not! Those false gods will reject their worship, and they will turn against them.

83. Don't you see that We've sent devils against the disbelievers, pushing them deeper into wrongdoing?

84. So don't rush against them; We're carefully counting down their days.

85. On the Day when We gather the mindful ones, to the Most Merciful, as honored guests.

86. And drive the guilty ones to Hell, thirsty.

87. No one will have the power to speak for others, except those who've received a promise from the Most Merciful.

88. And they say, "The Most Merciful has taken a child."

89. You've said something terrible.

90. The skies almost burst apart because of it, the earth nearly splits open, and the mountains almost crumble to pieces.

91. Because they claim the Most Merciful has a child.

92. It doesn't fit the Most Merciful to have a child.

93. Every single being in the heavens and on earth comes to the Most Merciful only as a servant.

94. He has counted each one of them, and numbered them exactly.

95. And every one of them will come to Him alone on the Day of Judgment.

96. Those who believe and do good deeds — The Most Merciful will surely grant them love.

97. We've made this Quran easy in your own language, so you can give good news to those who are mindful, and to warn with it stubborn people.

98. How many generations before them have We destroyed? Do you feel the presence of any of them, or even hear a whisper from them?
