In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Kind.
1. Glory to the One Who took His servant on a journey by night, from the Sacred Mosque to the Farthest Mosque, whose surroundings We have blessed, to show him some of Our miracles. Truly, He is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing.
2. And We gave Moses the Scripture, and made it a guide for the Children of Israel, saying, "Don't take anyone other than Me as your protector."
3. You are descendants of those We carried with Noah. Truly, he was a thankful servant.
4. And We clearly warned the Children of Israel in the Scripture, "You will cause corruption on earth twice, and you will become very arrogant."
5. When the first of these two warnings came true, We sent against you servants of Ours with great strength, who marched through your homes. And this was a promise fulfilled.
6. Then We gave you victory over them again, and We helped you with wealth and children, and made you greater in number.
7. If you do good, you do good for your own selves. And if you do wrong, it will only harm yourselves. Then, when the second warning comes true, your enemies will disgrace you, enter the mosque just as they did the first time, and completely destroy whatever they conquer.
8. Perhaps your Lord will have mercy on you. But if you return to wrongdoing, We will return to punishment. And We have made Hell a prison for the disbelievers.
9. Truly, this Quran guides to the straightest path, and gives good news to the believers who do good deeds, that they will have a great reward.
10. And for those who don't believe in the Hereafter, We have prepared a painful punishment.
11. Humans pray for bad things just as eagerly as they pray for good things. Humans are always in a hurry.
12. We made the night and the day two signs. We darkened the sign of the night, and made the sign of the day bright, so you can seek your Lord's blessings, and know how to count the years and measure time. We have explained everything clearly.
13. We have tied each person's destiny around their neck. And on the Day of Judgment, We will bring out a record for each person, wide open for them to see.
14. "Read your record! Today, you yourself are enough to judge your actions."
15. Whoever follows the right path, they do so for their own good. And whoever loses their way, they only harm themselves. No one will carry another person's burden. And We never punish anyone, until We have sent a messenger.
16. When We decide to destroy a town, We first command its wealthy people to obey, but they disobey and do wrong. Then the punishment becomes certain, and We completely destroy it.
17. How many generations have We destroyed after Noah! And your Lord knows and sees clearly all the sins of His servants.
18. Whoever wants only this quick life, We quickly give whatever We wish to whoever We choose. But afterward, We have prepared Hell for them — where they will enter, blamed and driven away.
19. But whoever desires the Hereafter and sincerely works hard for it, while being a believer — those people's efforts will be appreciated.
20. We give to both groups — these and those — from the gifts of your Lord. Your Lord's gifts are never held back.
21. Look how We have favored some people over others. But the Hereafter has far greater ranks and far greater favor.
22. Do not set up another god alongside Allah, or you will end up sitting there, blamed and abandoned.
23. Your Lord has commanded that you worship no one except Him, and that you treat your parents with kindness. If one or both of them reach old age while with you, never say even "ugh" to them, nor speak harshly to them. Instead, speak to them gently and respectfully.
24. And lower yourself humbly before them out of kindness, and say, "My Lord, have mercy on them, just as they cared for me when I was small."
25. Your Lord knows best what is in your hearts. If you are truly good, He is always forgiving to those who turn back to Him.
26. Give your relatives their rights, and help the needy and travelers in need. But do not waste your wealth foolishly.
27. Those who waste foolishly are like brothers to devils, and the devil has always been ungrateful to his Lord.
28. If you turn away from them, seeking mercy from your Lord that you hope for, then at least speak to them gently and kindly.
29. Do not keep your hand tied tightly to your neck, nor stretch it out completely wide — otherwise, you will end up blamed and full of regret.
30. Your Lord gives generously to whoever He wills, and He limits provision for whoever He wills. He truly knows and sees His servants well.
31. Do not kill your children out of fear of poverty. We provide for them and for you. Killing them is truly a terrible sin.
32. Do not even come close to sexual immorality. It is truly shameful and an evil path.
33. Do not take a life that Allah has made sacred, except with a just reason. If someone is killed unfairly, We have given their family the right to justice — but they must not go too far in taking revenge. They will surely be helped.
34. And don't go near the property of orphans, except in the best way, until they reach maturity. Keep your promises, because every promise will be questioned.
35. Give full measure when you measure, and weigh with a just and honest balance. That's better and leads to the best outcome.
36. Don't go after things you have no real knowledge about. Your hearing, your sight, and your heart — each of these will be questioned.
37. Don't walk proudly on the earth — you can't break through the ground or reach as high as the mountains.
38. All these bad behaviors are disliked by your Lord.
39. This is some of the wisdom your Lord has revealed to you. Don't set up another god alongside Allah, or you'll be thrown into Hell, blamed and rejected.
40. Has your Lord chosen sons for you, but taken daughters from among the angels for Himself? You're saying something terrible!
41. We've explained things in different ways in this Quran, so people might remember — but it only makes them turn away even more.
42. Say, "If there were other gods besides Him, as they claim, then those gods would surely seek a way to reach the Lord of the Throne."
43. Glory to Him! He's far above the things they say about Him!
44. The seven heavens, the earth, and everyone in them glorify Him. Everything glorifies Him with His praise — but you don't understand their glorification. He's always gentle and forgiving.
45. When you read the Quran, We place an invisible barrier between you and those who don't believe in the Hereafter.
46. We put covers over their hearts, so they can't understand it, and heaviness in their ears. When you mention your Lord alone in the Quran, they turn their backs and run away.
47. We know best how they listen when they hear you, and when they whisper secretly, when the wrongdoers say, "You're only following a man who's under a spell."
48. See how they make up examples about you — they've lost their way and can't find the right path.
49. They say, "When we're just bones and dust, will we really be brought back as a new creation?"
50. Say, "Even if you become stones or iron.
51. Or anything else you think is even harder to bring back to life!" Then they'll ask, "Who will bring us back?" Say, "The One Who created you the first time." Then they'll shake their heads at you and say, "When will that happen?" Say, "Maybe it's very soon."
52. On the Day He calls you, you'll answer by praising Him, and you'll think you stayed in this world only a short while.
53. Tell My servants to speak in the kindest way, because Satan tries to stir trouble between them. Satan has always been a clear enemy to humans.
54. Your Lord knows you best. If He wishes, He will show you mercy, or if He wishes, He will punish you. We did not send you to be responsible for them.
55. Your Lord knows everyone in the heavens and the earth. We have favored some prophets over others, and We gave David the Psalms.
56. Say, "Call on those you claim as gods besides Him. They have no power to remove your troubles or even change them."
57. Those beings they call upon are themselves seeking ways to come closer to their Lord, hoping for His mercy, and fearing His punishment. Truly, your Lord's punishment is something to beware of.
58. There is no town that We will not destroy or punish severely before the Day of Judgment. This is already written clearly in the Book.
59. Nothing stopped Us from sending miracles except that people before rejected them. We gave Thamud the she-camel as a visible sign, but they treated her wrongly. We send signs only as warnings.
60. Remember when We told you, "Your Lord surrounds all people." We made the vision We showed you and the cursed tree mentioned in the Quran only as a test for people. We warn them, but it only increases their rebellion.
61. Remember when We said to the angels, "Bow down before Adam." They all bowed except Iblis, who said, "Should I bow to someone You created from clay?"
62. He said, "Do You see this one You honored above me? If You delay my punishment until the Day of Judgment, I will surely take control of his descendants, except for a few."
63. Allah said, "Go, and whoever follows you among them — Hell will be your complete punishment."
64. "Tempt whoever you can among them with your voice. Mobilize against them your cavalry and infantry. Share in their wealth and children, and make promises to them." But Satan promises them nothing but lies.
65. "You have no power over My servants. Your Lord is enough as their protector."
66. Your Lord is the One Who guides ships smoothly for you across the sea, so you can seek His blessings. He is truly kind and merciful to you.
67. When trouble touches you at sea, everyone you call upon disappears, except Him. But when He brings you safely back to land, you turn away. Humans have always been ungrateful.
68. Do you feel safe that He won't make the land swallow you up, or send a storm of stones against you? Then you would find no one to protect you.
69. Or do you feel safe that He won't send you back to sea again, then send a fierce wind to drown you because of your disbelief? Then you would find no one to help you against Us.
70. We have honored the children of Adam, carried them on land and sea, provided them with good things, and favored them greatly above many of Our creations.
71. On the Day when We call every group of people by their leader — those who receive their record in their right hand will happily read their book, and they won't be treated unfairly, not even by the smallest bit.
72. But whoever was blind in this life, will be even more blind in the Hereafter, and even further away from the right path.
73. They almost tempted you away from what We revealed to you, hoping you'd say something different about Us — and then they would have taken you as a close friend.
74. If We hadn't made you strong, you might have leaned toward them just a little bit.
75. Then We would have made you taste double punishment in this life, and double at death, and you wouldn't find anyone to help you against Us.
76. They almost drove you out of the land, to make you leave — but if they had, they wouldn't have stayed there long after you.
77. This has always been Our way with the messengers We sent before you — and you'll never find any change in Our way.
78. Keep up the prayer from the sun's decline until the darkness of night, and recite the Quran at dawn — the recitation at dawn is witnessed.
79. And during the night, wake up and pray extra voluntary prayers — for you. Your Lord may raise you to a praised and honored position.
80. And say, "My Lord, let me enter with truth and leave with truth, and give me strong support from You."
81. And say, "The truth has come, and falsehood has vanished — falsehood was always meant to vanish."
82. We send down from the Quran what is healing and mercy for the believers, but it only increases the wrongdoers in loss.
83. When We bless a human being, he turns away and distances himself — but when trouble touches him, he loses all hope.
84. Say, "Everyone acts according to their own way, and your Lord knows best who is truly guided."
85. They ask you about the soul. Say, "The soul is from my Lord's command, and you've been given only a little knowledge."
86. If We wanted, We could surely take away what We revealed to you — and then you wouldn't find anyone to defend you against Us.
87. Except as a mercy from your Lord — His kindness toward you is truly great.
88. Say, "If all humans and jinn joined together to produce something like this Quran, they could never produce anything like it — even if they all helped each other."
89. We've explained every kind of example clearly in this Quran for people, yet most people insist on rejecting the truth.
90. They said, "We won't believe you until you make a spring burst from the ground for us.
91. Or until you have a garden full of palm trees and grapevines, and make rivers flow abundantly through it.
92. Or make the sky fall down on us in pieces, as you claimed, or bring Allah and the angels in front of us.
93. Or until you have a house made of gold, or you rise up into the sky. And even then, we won't believe in your rising, unless you bring down a book we can read." Say, "Glory to my Lord! Am I anything but a human messenger?"
94. Nothing stopped people from believing when guidance came to them, except that they said, "Did Allah really send a human as a messenger?"
95. Say, "If angels were walking peacefully on earth, We would certainly have sent down an angel from heaven as a messenger."
96. Say, "Allah is enough as a witness between me and you. He truly knows and sees His servants."
97. Whoever Allah guides is truly guided, and whoever He misguides — you'll never find anyone besides Him to protect them. On the Day of Judgment, We'll gather them on their faces — blind, dumb, and deaf. Their home will be Hell; whenever its flames die down, We'll make them blaze again.
98. That's their reward because they rejected Our signs, and said, "When we're bones and dust, will we really be brought back as a new creation?"
99. Don't they see that Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth, has the power to create people like them? He has set a time for them that has no doubt — but still, the wrongdoers refuse everything except disbelief.
100. Say, "If you had control over the treasures of my Lord's mercy, you'd surely hold them back, afraid of spending. Humans have always been stingy."
101. We gave Moses nine clear miracles. Ask the Children of Israel about when he came to them. Pharaoh said to him, "Moses, I really think you're under a spell!"
102. Moses replied, "You know very well that no one sent these miracles except the Lord of the heavens and the earth, as clear proofs. Pharaoh, I truly think you're doomed!"
103. Then Pharaoh tried to drive them out of the land, but We drowned him and everyone with him.
104. After that, We said to the Children of Israel, "Settle in the land. When the promise of the Hereafter comes, We will gather you all together."
105. We sent down this Quran with truth, and with truth it has come down. We sent you only to bring good news and to warn.
106. It is a Quran We revealed in parts, so you can recite it to people slowly and clearly. We sent it down little by little.
107. Say, "Believe in it, or don't believe." Those who were given knowledge before, when it's recited to them, they fall down on their faces in humble worship.
108. And they say, "Glory to our Lord! Our Lord's promise will surely come true."
109. They fall down on their faces, crying, and it increases their humility.
110. Say, "Call upon Allah, or call upon the Most Merciful. Whichever name you call, He has the most beautiful names." Don't pray too loudly or too softly, but find a balanced way between them.
111. And say, "Praise belongs to Allah, Who has no child, Who has no partner in His kingdom, and Who needs no protector out of weakness." And proclaim His greatness fully!
