In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Kind.

1. Alif. Lam. Ra. This is a Book that We sent down to you, so you may lead people out of darkness into the light — by their Lord's permission — to the path of the Almighty, the Praiseworthy.

2. Allah, to Whom belongs everything in the heavens and everything on earth. And woe to the disbelievers because of a severe punishment!

3. Those who prefer this worldly life over the Hereafter, who turn people away from Allah's path and try to twist it — they are truly lost, far from the right way.

4. We never sent a messenger except speaking the language of his people, so he could explain clearly to them. Then Allah lets whoever He wills go astray, and guides whoever He wills. He is the Almighty, the Wise.

5. And We sent Moses with Our signs, saying: "Lead your people out of darkness into the light, and remind them of Allah's special days." Truly, in this are lessons for everyone who is patient and thankful.

6. Remember when Moses said to his people: "Think about Allah's favor to you, when He saved you from Pharaoh's people, who made you suffer terribly, killing your sons and letting your daughters live. That was a great test from your Lord."

7. And remember when your Lord announced: "If you are thankful, I will surely give you more. But if you are ungrateful, My punishment is truly severe."

8. Moses said: "Even if you and everyone on earth reject Allah, He is still Rich beyond need, Worthy of all praise."

9. Haven't you heard the stories of those before you — the people of Noah, Aad, Thamud, and those after them? Only Allah knows them all. Their messengers came to them with clear proofs, but they put their hands to their mouths and said: "We reject the message you bring, and we deeply doubt what you're calling us to."

10. Their messengers replied: "Can there be any doubt about Allah, the Creator of the heavens and the earth? He calls you, so He may forgive some of your sins, and give you time until a set day." But they said: "You're just humans like us! You only want to stop us from worshiping what our ancestors worshiped. So bring us clear proof!"

11. Their messengers said to them: "Yes, we are only humans like you, but Allah gives His favor to whichever of His servants He chooses. We can't bring you proof, unless Allah allows it. So let the believers put their trust in Allah."

12. "And why shouldn't we trust in Allah, when He has guided us in our paths? We will surely be patient despite the harm you cause us. And let those who trust, put their trust in Allah."

13. Those who disbelieved said to their messengers, "We will surely drive you out of our land, or you must return to our ways." But their Lord revealed to the messengers, "We will certainly destroy the wrongdoers."

14. "And We will surely let you live in the land after them." This promise is for those who fear standing before Me, and fear My warning.

15. They asked for victory — but every stubborn tyrant failed.

16. Hell waits ahead for him, and he'll be given disgusting water to drink.

17. He'll try to swallow it, but he'll hardly be able to. Death will come at him from every side, but he will not die — and beyond this is an even harsher punishment.

18. The example of those who reject their Lord, is like ashes blown away by a strong wind on a stormy day. They can't hold on to anything they've earned. That is truly being lost far away from the right path.

19. Don't you see that Allah created the heavens and the earth with truth? If He wanted, He could remove you all, and bring new people in your place.

20. And that's not difficult at all for Allah.

21. They will all appear before Allah together. Then the weak ones will say to those who acted proudly, "We followed you — can you save us now from Allah's punishment at all?" They will reply, "If Allah had guided us, we would have guided you. It makes no difference now whether we panic or stay patient — there's no escape for us."

22. When the matter is decided, Satan will say, "Allah made you a true promise, and I made you a promise too — but I broke mine. I had no power over you — I only called you, and you answered me. So don't blame me; blame yourselves. I can't help you now, and you can't help me. I reject the way you associated me with Allah before." Surely, those who do wrong will have a painful punishment.

23. But those who believed and did good deeds will enter Gardens with rivers flowing beneath them, staying there forever by their Lord's permission. Their greeting there will be: "Peace."

24. Don't you see how Allah gives an example? A good word is like a good tree — its roots are firm, and its branches reach up into the sky.

25. It gives fruit all the time, by its Lord's permission. Allah gives examples for people, so they might remember.

26. And the example of a bad word is like a bad tree — pulled out from the ground, with no stability.

27. Allah keeps firm those who believe, with the firm word, in this life and in the Hereafter. But Allah lets the wrongdoers go astray. And Allah does whatever He wills.

28. Haven't you seen those who exchanged Allah's blessings for disbelief, and led their people to a land of ruin?

29. Hell — they will enter it, and what a terrible place to stay!

30. They set up rivals to Allah, to lead others away from His path. Say, "Enjoy yourselves for now, because your final home will be the Fire."

31. Tell My servants who believe to pray regularly, and to spend from what We have given them, secretly and openly, before a Day comes when there will be no trading and no friendship.

32. Allah is the One Who created the heavens and the earth, and sent down rain from the sky, bringing out fruits as food for you. And He made ships useful to you, sailing across the sea by His command. And He made rivers helpful to you.

33. And He made the sun and the moon helpful to you, always moving. And He made the night and the day helpful to you.

34. And He gave you some of everything you asked Him for. If you tried to count Allah's blessings, you could never count them all. Humans are truly unfair and ungrateful.

35. Remember when Abraham prayed, "My Lord, make this city safe, and keep me and my children far away from worshiping idols.

36. My Lord, they have led many people astray. Whoever follows me truly belongs with me, and whoever disobeys me — You are surely forgiving and full of mercy.

37. Our Lord, I have settled some of my family in a valley without plants, near Your sacred House, so they may pray regularly. Make people's hearts turn toward them, and provide them with fruits, so they might be thankful.

38. Our Lord, You know what we hide and what we show openly. Nothing on earth or in heaven is hidden from Allah.

39. Praise belongs to Allah, Who gave me Ishmael and Isaac even though I was old. My Lord truly hears every prayer.

40. My Lord, help me and my children to pray regularly. Our Lord, please accept my prayer.

41. Our Lord, forgive me, my parents, and all the believers on the Day when judgment takes place."

42. Never think that Allah doesn't notice what wrongdoers do. He only delays their punishment until a Day when eyes will stare in shock.

43. Running forward, heads raised, eyes unable to blink, and hearts completely empty.

44. Warn people about the Day when punishment comes to them. Those who did wrong will cry out, "Our Lord, give us just a little more time! We'll answer Your call and follow the messengers!" But didn't you swear before that you'd never face an end?

45. You lived in the homes of those who wronged themselves, and you clearly saw how We dealt with them. We gave you examples to learn from.

46. They made their plans, but their plans are known to Allah — even if their plans could remove mountains.

47. Never think that Allah will break His promise to His messengers. Allah is truly mighty, able to take revenge.

48. On the Day when the earth will be changed into a different earth, and the skies too, and everyone will stand before Allah — the One, the All-Powerful.

49. On that Day, you'll see the guilty chained together.

50. Wearing clothes made of tar, with fire covering their faces.

51. Allah will repay each soul exactly for what it earned. Allah is swift in judging.

52. This is a clear message for all people, so they can be warned by it, and so they can know that He is truly One God, and so those who understand can remember.
