In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Kind.

1. Alif. Lam. Ra. These are the verses of the wise Book.

2. Is it surprising to people that We revealed Our message to a man from among them, saying, "Warn the people, and give good news to those who believe that they have a true place of honor with their Lord"? But those who disbelieve say, "This man is clearly a magician."

3. Your Lord is Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth in six days, then rose above the Throne, managing all things. No one can speak for another without His permission. This is Allah, your Lord, so worship Him. Won't you remember?

4. To Him you will all return. Allah's promise is true. He begins creation, then brings it back again, to fairly reward those who believe and do good. But those who disbelieve will have boiling water to drink and a painful punishment, because they refused to believe.

5. He is the One Who made the sun a shining light and the moon a gentle glow, and set its phases so you could know the number of years and keep track of time. Allah created all this for a true purpose. He clearly explains His signs for people who understand.

6. Truly, in the changing of night and day, and in all that Allah created in the heavens and the earth, there are signs for people who are mindful of Him.

7. Those who don't hope to meet Us, who are happy with this worldly life and feel completely satisfied with it, and those who ignore Our signs.

8. Their home will be the Fire, because of what they used to do.

9. But those who believe and do good deeds — their Lord will guide them because of their faith. Rivers will flow beneath them in gardens of happiness.

10. Their prayer there will be, "Glory be to You, Allah!" Their greeting there will be, "Peace!" And their final words will be, "Praise belongs to Allah, Lord of all the worlds!"

11. If Allah were to rush punishment on people as quickly as they rush to ask for good things, their time would already be finished. But We leave those who don't hope to meet Us to wander blindly in their wrongdoing.

12. When trouble touches a human being, he calls out to Us — lying down, sitting, or standing. But as soon as We remove his trouble, he goes on as if he never called on Us for help when trouble touched him. This is how the actions of those who waste their lives seem attractive to them.

13. We destroyed many generations before you when they did wrong. Their messengers came to them with clear proofs, but they refused to believe. This is how We repay people who do evil.

14. Then We made you successors on earth after them, to see how you would act.

15. When Our clear verses are recited to them, those who don't hope to meet Us say, "Bring us a different Quran, or change it." Say, "It's not for me to change it on my own. I only follow what is revealed to me. I fear the punishment of a great Day if I disobey my Lord."

16. Say, "If Allah had wanted, I wouldn't have recited it to you, nor would He have made it known to you. I've lived among you a whole lifetime before this — don't you understand?"

17. Who could be more unfair than someone who invents lies about Allah or denies His verses? Truly, the criminals will never succeed.

18. They worship things besides Allah — things that can't harm or help them — and they say, "These are our intercessors with Allah." Say, "Are you telling Allah something He doesn't know in the heavens or on earth?" Glory to Him! He is far above the partners they set up.

19. All people were once a single community, but then they disagreed. If it weren't for a decision already made by your Lord, their differences would have been settled right away.

20. They say, "Why hasn't a miracle been sent down to him from his Lord?" Say, "The unseen belongs only to Allah. So wait — I am waiting along with you."

21. When We let people taste kindness after they've faced hardship, they quickly plot against Our verses. Say, "Allah plans faster." Our messengers are writing down everything you plan.

22. He is the One Who carries you safely across land and sea. When you're sailing on ships, and a gentle wind blows, making you happy, suddenly a fierce storm comes, waves crash from every side, and you think you're surrounded by danger. Then you sincerely call out to Allah alone, saying, "If You save us from this, we'll definitely be grateful!"

23. But once He saves them, they immediately start acting unfairly on earth. People, your unfairness only hurts yourselves. It's just the enjoyment of this worldly life. Then you'll return to Us, and We'll tell you clearly everything you've done.

24. This worldly life is just like rain We send down from the sky, causing plants on earth to grow abundantly — providing food for people and animals. But just when the earth looks beautiful and decorated, and its people think they have full control over it, suddenly Our command comes, by night or by day, and We turn it into a harvested field, as if it had never flourished yesterday. This is how We clearly explain Our verses for people who think carefully.

25. Allah invites you to the Home of Peace, and He guides whoever He wishes to a straight path.

26. Those who do good will have the best reward — and even more. No darkness or shame will cover their faces. They are the people of Paradise, where they will stay forever.

27. But those who do evil — their reward will be an evil just like it, and shame will cover them. They'll have no one to protect them from Allah. Their faces will be covered in darkness, as if pieces of a dark night were laid over them. They are the people of the Fire, where they will stay forever.

28. On the Day when We gather them all together, We'll say to those who worshiped others besides Allah, "Stay where you are — you and your partners." Then We'll separate them, and their partners will say, "You didn't really worship us."

29. "Allah is enough as a witness between us and you — we didn't even know you were worshiping us."

30. At that moment, every soul will experience what it did before. They'll be returned to Allah, their true Master, and the lies they invented will disappear from them.

31. Say, "Who provides for you from the sky and the earth? Who controls hearing and sight? Who brings out the living from the dead, and the dead from the living? Who manages everything?" They'll surely say, "Allah." Then say, "Won't you be mindful of Him?"

32. That's Allah — your true Lord. After the truth, what's left except misguidance? How can you turn away?

33. This is how your Lord's word has come true against those who disobeyed — they won't believe.

34. Say, "Can any of your partners start creation, and then bring it back again?" Say, "Allah starts creation and brings it back again. So how can you be so misled?"

35. Say, "Can any of your partners guide to the truth?" Say, "Allah guides to the truth. So who deserves to be followed more — the One Who guides to the truth, or someone who can't guide unless he's guided himself? What's wrong with you? How do you judge?"

36. Most of them follow nothing but guesses. But guessing can never replace the truth. Allah knows exactly what they do.

37. This Quran could never have been made up by anyone besides Allah. Instead, it confirms what came before it, and clearly explains the Book — there's no doubt it's from the Lord of all creation.

38. Or do they say, "He made it up"? Say, "Then bring just one chapter like it, and call anyone you can besides Allah, if you're telling the truth."

39. No — they deny what they don't fully understand, and whose meaning hasn't yet come to them. That's exactly how those before them denied. So look at how things ended for those who did wrong.

40. Some of them will believe in it, and some won't. Your Lord knows best who the corruptors are.

41. If they call you a liar, say, "My actions are mine, and your actions are yours. You are innocent of what I do, and I am innocent of what you do."

42. Some of them listen to you, but can you make the deaf hear, even when they don't understand?

43. Some of them look right at you, but can you guide the blind, even when they can't see?

44. Allah never treats people unfairly in the slightest, but people treat themselves unfairly.

45. On the Day He gathers them, it will feel as if they'd stayed in this world for only an hour, recognizing each other. Those who denied meeting Allah will have truly lost, and they were never guided.

46. Whether We show you some of what We promised them, or We take your life first, they will return to Us. Then Allah is a witness to everything they do.

47. Every community had a messenger. When their messenger came, matters were judged fairly between them, and no one was treated unfairly.

48. They ask, "When will this promise come true, if you're telling the truth?"

49. Say, "I have no power to harm or help myself, except as Allah wills. Every community has a fixed time. When their time comes, they can't delay it by even an hour, nor can they speed it up."

50. Say, "Have you thought about this? If His punishment comes to you suddenly at night or during the day, what part of it would the guilty rush to see happen?"

51. Will you believe only after it actually happens? Now? When before, you were rushing it along?

52. Then it will be said to those who did wrong, "Taste the punishment of eternity! You're only getting what you earned."

53. They ask you, "Is this really true?" Say, "Yes, by my Lord, it's absolutely true, and you can't escape it."

54. If every soul that did wrong owned everything on earth, they would gladly offer it all to save themselves. They will hide their regret when they see the punishment. Judgment will be made fairly between them, and no one will be treated unfairly.

55. Truly, everything in the heavens and the earth belongs to Allah. Truly, Allah's promise is real, but most of them don't know.

56. He gives life and causes death, and you will all return to Him.

57. People, a lesson has come to you from your Lord, a healing for what is in your hearts, and guidance and mercy for the believers.

58. Say, "In Allah's kindness and mercy — let them rejoice in these! They are far better than all the things they gather."

59. Say, "Think about the provision Allah has sent down for you, yet you decided on your own what is forbidden and what is allowed." Say, "Did Allah give you permission, or are you making things up about Allah?"

60. What do those who invent lies about Allah think will happen on the Day of Judgment? Truly, Allah is kind to people, but most of them are not thankful.

61. Whatever situation you are in, whatever part of the Quran you recite, and whatever actions you do, We are always watching over you when you are busy doing them. Not even the tiniest speck on earth or in the sky is hidden from your Lord — nothing smaller or larger than that — everything is clearly recorded in a clear Book.

62. Truly, Allah's close friends have nothing to fear, nor will they be sad.

63. They are those who believed and were mindful of Allah.

64. For them is good news in this life and in the Hereafter. Allah's words never change — that is the greatest success.

65. Don't let their words make you sad. All honor belongs completely to Allah. He hears everything and knows everything.

66. Truly, everyone in the heavens and on earth belongs to Allah. Those who worship others besides Allah aren't following real partners — they're only following guesses and making things up.

67. He is the One Who made the night peaceful for you to rest, and the day bright for you to see clearly. Truly, in this are signs for people who listen.

68. They say, "Allah has a child." Glory to Him! He has no need of anyone. Everything in the heavens and on earth belongs to Him. You have no proof for this claim. Are you saying things about Allah that you don't really know?

69. Say, "Those who invent lies about Allah will never succeed."

70. They may enjoy this world for a little while, but then they will return to Us. After that, We will make them taste a severe punishment because they used to disbelieve.

71. Tell them the story of Noah, when he said to his people, "My people, if my presence and my reminders of Allah's signs have become too much for you, then know that I put my trust in Allah. So decide clearly what you want to do — you and your partners — and don't let your decision be confusing or unclear. Then carry it out against me, and don't give me any more time."

72. "But if you turn away, remember that I haven't asked you for any reward. My reward comes only from Allah, and I've been commanded to be among those who submit to Him."

73. Yet they rejected him, so We saved Noah and those who were with him in the ship, and We made them the ones who inherited the earth. And We drowned those who rejected Our signs. Look carefully at what happened to those who were warned!

74. Then, after Noah, We sent other messengers to their people. They came with clear proofs, but the people wouldn't believe in what they had already rejected before. This is how We seal the hearts of those who cross the limits.

75. Then, after them, We sent Moses and Aaron to Pharaoh and his leaders with Our clear signs — but they acted arrogantly and were a guilty people.

76. When the truth came to them from Us, they said, "This is clearly magic!"

77. Moses said, "Do you say this about the truth when it has come to you? Is this magic? Magicians never succeed."

78. They replied, "Have you come to turn us away from what we found our ancestors following, so that you two can have power over the land? We will never believe in you!"

79. Pharaoh said, "Bring me every skilled magician!"

80. When the magicians arrived, Moses said to them, "Throw whatever you wish to throw."

81. So when they threw, Moses said, "What you've brought is magic — Allah will surely make it fail. Allah never allows the deeds of corruptors to succeed."

82. Allah proves the truth by His words, even if the guilty dislike it.

83. But only a few young people from Moses' community believed in him, because they feared Pharaoh and his leaders would harm them. Pharaoh was truly powerful in the land, and he was among those who crossed all limits.

84. Moses said, "My people, if you truly believe in Allah, then trust Him completely, if you have truly surrendered to Him."

85. They answered, "We trust Allah alone. Our Lord, don't let us become targets for those who do wrong.

86. And by Your mercy, save us from the disbelieving people."

87. We inspired Moses and his brother, "Settle your people in houses in Egypt, and make your homes places of worship. Pray regularly, and give good news to the believers."

88. Moses prayed, "Our Lord, You've given Pharaoh and his leaders wealth and beautiful things in this worldly life, and they use them to lead people away from Your path. Our Lord, destroy their riches and harden their hearts, so they won't believe until they see the painful punishment."

89. Allah replied, "Your prayer has been answered. So remain firm, and don't follow the path of those who have no knowledge."

90. Then We took the Children of Israel safely across the sea. Pharaoh and his soldiers chased after them in cruelty and hatred. But when Pharaoh was about to drown, he cried out, "I believe there's no god except the One the Children of Israel believe in, and now I'm among those who surrender!"

91. "Now? But before this, you disobeyed and were among the corruptors!

92. Today, We will save your body, so you'll be a sign for those who come after you. Yet many people pay no attention to Our signs."

93. We gave the Children of Israel a safe and honorable home, and provided them with good things. They only started arguing after knowledge came to them. Your Lord will surely judge between them on the Day of Judgment about what they disagreed on.

94. If you are unsure about what We revealed to you, ask those who have been reading the Scripture before you. The truth has come to you from your Lord, so don't be one of those who doubt.

95. And don't be among those who reject Allah's verses, or you'll become one of the losers.

96. Those who have already earned your Lord's judgment won't believe.

97. Even if every sign came to them — until they see the painful punishment.

98. Why was there no town that believed and benefited from its belief, except the people of Jonah? When they believed, We removed from them the punishment of disgrace in this life, and We let them enjoy life for a while.

99. If your Lord had wanted, everyone on earth would have believed. Will you then force people to become believers?

100. No one can believe unless Allah allows it, and He places impurity upon those who don't use their minds.

101. Say, "Look carefully at what is in the heavens and the earth." But signs and warnings won't help people who refuse to believe.

102. Are they waiting for anything except the same kind of days that happened to those who passed away before them? Say, "Then wait — I am waiting along with you."

103. Then We save Our messengers and those who believe. It is Our duty to save the believers.

104. Say, "People, if you're unsure about my religion, know that I don't worship those you worship besides Allah. Instead, I worship Allah, Who will take your souls. I've been commanded to be one of the believers.

105. And to sincerely turn toward the true religion. Don't ever be among those who worship others beside Allah.

106. And don't call upon anything other than Allah — things that can't help or harm you. If you do, you'll surely be among those who do wrong."

107. If Allah allows harm to touch you, no one can remove it except Him. And if He wants good for you, no one can stop His kindness. He gives it to whichever of His servants He chooses. He is the Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.

108. Say, "People, the truth has come to you from your Lord. Whoever chooses the right path does so for their own good, and whoever goes astray does so to their own harm. I am not responsible for you."

109. Follow what has been revealed to you, and be patient until Allah gives His judgment. He is the best of all judges.
