In the name of Allah, the Most Kind, the Most Caring.
1. They ask you about the treasures taken in battle. Say, "The treasures belong to Allah and the Messenger. So respect Allah, fix any problems between yourselves, and obey Allah and His Messenger if you truly believe."
2. The true believers are those whose hearts tremble when Allah is mentioned. When His verses are read to them, their faith grows stronger, and they trust their Lord.
3. They pray regularly and give to others from what We have given them.
4. These are the true believers. They will have special levels of honor with their Lord, forgiveness, and wonderful rewards.
5. Remember when your Lord brought you out of your home for a good reason, even though some believers didn't like it.
6. They argued with you about the truth after it became clear, as if they were being led toward death while watching.
7. Remember when Allah promised you that one of the two groups would be yours. You wanted the group without weapons, but Allah wanted to show the truth clearly with His words, and completely stop those who disbelieved.
8. He wanted to make the truth win and falsehood disappear, even if the wrongdoers didn't like it.
9. Remember when you asked your Lord for help, and He answered, "I will help you with a thousand angels coming one after another."
10. Allah made this only as good news to comfort your hearts. Victory comes only from Allah. Allah is Mighty and Wise.
11. Remember when He made you sleepy to help you feel safe, and He sent down rain from the sky to clean you, remove Satan's whispers from you, make your hearts strong, and help your feet stand firm.
12. Remember when your Lord told the angels, "I am with you, so make the believers strong. I will put fear into the hearts of those who disbelieve, so strike above their necks and strike their fingertips."
13. This is because they fought against Allah and His Messenger. Whoever fights against Allah and His Messenger, Allah's punishment is very severe.
14. This is your punishment, so taste it. Those who disbelieve will have the punishment of the Fire.
15. Believers, when you meet those who don't believe, marching toward you, don't turn your backs and run away.
16. Anyone who turns and runs away on that day — unless it's to move to a better spot for fighting, or to join another group — has earned Allah's anger. His home will be Hell, and what a terrible place to end up.
17. You didn't defeat them yourselves — Allah defeated them. And when you threw, it wasn't really you throwing — Allah threw. He did this to test the believers with a wonderful victory. Allah hears everything and knows everything.
18. That's how it is — Allah weakens the plans of those who don't believe.
19. If you were asking for victory, victory has come to you. But if you stop fighting, that's better for you. If you start again, We will start again too. Your group won't help you at all, even if it's big. Remember, Allah is with the believers.
20. Believers, obey Allah and His Messenger. Don't turn away from him while you're listening.
21. Don't be like those who say, "We hear," but they don't really listen.
22. The worst creatures to Allah are those who are deaf and mute — those who don't understand.
23. If Allah saw any good in them, He would have made them listen. But even if He made them listen, they would still turn away.
24. Believers, answer Allah and the Messenger when he calls you to what gives you life. Remember, Allah comes between a person and their heart, and you'll all be gathered back to Him.
25. Watch out for a trouble that won't just affect the people who do wrong among you. Remember, Allah's punishment is very strong.
26. Remember when you were few and weak on earth, afraid that people would snatch you away. Then Allah protected you, helped you with His victory, and gave you good things, so you might be thankful.
27. Believers, don't betray Allah and the Messenger, and don't betray the trusts given to you, when you know.
28. Remember, your money and your children are a test, and with Allah is a great reward.
29. Believers, if you are careful to obey Allah, He'll help you see right from wrong, erase your bad deeds, and forgive you. Allah is very generous.
30. Remember when the disbelievers made secret plans against you — to capture you, or kill you, or send you away. They made their plans, but Allah also planned — and Allah is the Best Planner.
31. When Our verses are read to them, they say, "We've heard this before. If we wanted, we could say things just like this. These are only old stories."
32. And remember when they said, "Allah, if this is really the truth from You, then send stones down on us from the sky, or bring us a painful punishment."
33. But Allah would never punish them while you're among them. And Allah would never punish them while they're asking Him to forgive them.
34. But why shouldn't Allah punish them? They stop people from going to the Sacred Mosque, even though they are not its true protectors. Only those who are careful to obey Allah are its true protectors — but most of them don't understand.
35. Their prayers at Allah's House were nothing but whistling and clapping. So taste the punishment, because you disbelieved.
36. The disbelievers spend their money to stop people from following Allah's way. They will keep spending it, but then they will regret it, and then they will be defeated. Those who disbelieve will be gathered into Hellfire.
37. Allah separates the bad from the good. He piles the bad things on top of each other, then puts them all together into Hellfire. Those are the ones who lose.
38. Tell the disbelievers, if they stop, Allah will forgive everything they've done before. But if they keep going, then what happened to earlier people will happen to them.
39. Keep fighting them until there's no more Unfair treatment, and so that everyone worships only Allah. But if they stop, then remember — Allah sees everything they do.
40. And if they turn away, remember that Allah is your Protector. He's the best Protector and the best Helper.
41. Remember, when you get something from a battle, one-fifth of it belongs to Allah, the Messenger, his close relatives, orphans, poor people, and travelers in need. Do this if you truly believe in Allah and in what We gave Our servant on the day when truth and falsehood met — the day when the two groups faced each other. Allah has power over everything.
42. Remember when you were on the near side of the valley, and they were on the far side, and the caravan was below you. Even if you had agreed to meet, you would not have met at the same time. But Allah made it happen, so that whoever died would do so after clear proof, and whoever lived would do so after clear proof. Allah hears everything and knows everything.
43. Remember when Allah showed them to you in your dream as only a few. If He had shown them as many, you would have lost courage and argued about what to do. But Allah kept you safe. He knows exactly what's in everyone's heart.
44. And remember when you met, Allah made them look few in your eyes, and He made you look few in their eyes. He did this so that what Allah wanted would happen. All matters go back to Allah.
45. Believers, when you meet an enemy group, stay strong and remember Allah often, so you can succeed.
46. Obey Allah and His Messenger, and don't argue with each other, or you'll become weak and lose your strength. Be patient, because Allah is with those who are patient.
47. Don't be like those who left their homes proudly, showing off to people, and stopping others from following Allah's way. Allah knows everything they do.
48. Remember when Satan made their actions look good to them and said, "No one can beat you today, and I'll be right by your side." But when the two groups saw each other, he turned around and ran away, saying, "I have nothing to do with you! I see something you don't see, and I'm afraid of Allah." Allah is very strong in punishment.
49. Remember when the pretenders and those with sickness in their hearts said, "These people are fooled by their religion." But whoever trusts Allah, Allah is mighty and wise.
50. If only you could see when the angels take away the souls of those who disbelieve — they hit their faces and backs, saying, "Taste the punishment of the burning Fire!"
51. This is because of what your own hands have done. Allah is never unfair to people.
52. This is just like what happened to Pharaoh's people and those before them. They didn't believe in Allah's verses, so Allah punished them for their sins. Allah is strong and very strong in punishment.
53. This is because Allah never changes a blessing He gives to people until they change what's inside themselves. Allah hears everything and knows everything.
54. This is just like what happened to Pharaoh's people and those before them. They didn't believe the signs of their Lord, so We destroyed them because of their sins, and We drowned Pharaoh's people. They were all wrongdoers.
55. The worst creatures to Allah are those who disbelieve, because they don't believe.
56. They're the ones you made promises with, but they break their promises every time, and they're not careful to obey Allah.
57. If you meet them in battle, make them an example to those behind them, so they might remember and learn.
58. If you're worried that some people might break their promise, tell them clearly that the promise is over. Allah doesn't love those who break promises.
59. Don't let those who disbelieve think they've escaped. They can't get away.
60. Prepare all the strength you can, including horses ready for battle, to make Allah's enemies and your enemies afraid, and others you don't know — but Allah knows them. Whatever you spend for Allah's sake, He'll give it back to you fully, and you won't be treated unfairly.
61. If they want peace, then you should also choose peace, and trust in Allah. He hears everything and knows everything.
62. If they try to trick you, Allah is enough for you. He's the One Who helped you with His support and with the believers.
63. He brought their hearts together. Even if you spent everything on earth, you couldn't have brought their hearts together — but Allah brought them together. He's powerful and wise.
64. Prophet, Allah is enough for you and for the believers who follow you.
65. Prophet, encourage the believers to fight. If there are twenty patient fighters among you, they'll win against two hundred. And if there are a hundred of you, they'll win against a thousand of those who disbelieve, because those people don't understand.
66. Now Allah has made things easier for you, because He knows there is weakness among you. So if there are a hundred patient fighters among you, they'll win against two hundred. And if there are a thousand of you, they'll win against two thousand, with Allah's permission. Allah is always with those who are patient.
67. A prophet shouldn't take prisoners until he has become strong in the land. You want things from this world, but Allah wants the Hereafter for you. Allah is mighty and wise.
68. If Allah hadn't already decided this, you would have faced a big punishment for what you took.
69. So eat from what you've won in battle — it's allowed and good for you. And always be careful to obey Allah. Allah is forgiving and kind.
70. Prophet, say to the prisoners you're holding, "If Allah sees goodness in your hearts, He'll give you something better than what was taken from you, and He'll forgive you. Allah is forgiving and kind."
71. But if they want to betray you, remember they've already betrayed Allah before, and He gave you power over them. Allah knows everything and is wise.
72. Those who believed, left their homes for Allah's sake, and worked hard with their money and themselves, and those who gave them shelter and helped them — they're true friends to each other. But those who believed and didn't leave their homes, you don't have to protect them until they do. If they ask you for help because of their religion, you must help them, unless it's against people you have a promise with. Allah sees everything you do.
73. Those who disbelieve are friends to each other. If you do not do this, there will be trouble and lots of bad things on earth.
74. Those who believed, moved away from their homes, and worked hard for Allah's sake, and those who gave them shelter and helped them — they're the true believers. They'll have forgiveness and generous rewards.
75. And those who believed later, moved away, and worked hard with you — they're part of you too. But family members are closer to each other, according to Allah's Book. Allah knows everything.
