In the name of Allah, the Most Kind, the Most Caring.
1. Alif. Lam. Meem. Saad.
2. This is a Book sent down to you, so don't feel uneasy about it. Use it to warn others, and as a reminder for those who believe.
3. Follow what your Lord has sent down to you, and don't follow other protectors besides Him. You remember only a little.
4. How many towns have We destroyed! Our punishment came to them at night, or while they were resting during the day.
5. When Our punishment came to them, all they could say was, "We were wrong."
6. Then We will surely ask the people who received the message, and We will surely ask the messengers too.
7. Then We will tell them everything they did, because We were never away from them.
8. On that Day, the weighing will be fair. Those whose good deeds are heavy will be the successful ones.
9. But those whose good deeds are light will lose themselves, because they treated Our verses unfairly.
10. We have given you a place to live on earth, and provided you with many things to help you live. But you only thank a little.
11. We created you, then shaped you, then We said to the angels, "Bow down to Adam." So they all bowed down, except Iblis — he didn't bow down.
12. Allah asked, "What stopped you from bowing down when I told you to?" Iblis said, "I'm better than him. You made me from fire, and You made him from clay."
13. Allah said, "Then leave this place. You can't be proud here. Get out — you're one of the low ones now."
14. Iblis said, "Give me time until the day people come back to life."
15. Allah said, "You have time until then."
16. Iblis said, "Because You let me go the wrong way, I'll wait for them on Your straight path.
17. Then I'll come to them from the front and the back, from the right and the left, and You'll find most of them won't be thankful."
18. Allah said, "Get out of here, ashamed and pushed away. Whoever follows you, I'll fill Hellfire with all of you."
19. "Adam, you and your wife can live in Paradise. Eat whatever you like, but don't go near this tree, or you'll be doing wrong."
20. But Satan whispered to them, to show them what was hidden from them — their nakedness. He said, "Your Lord only stopped you from eating from this tree because He doesn't want you to become angels or live forever."
21. He promised them, "I'm giving you good advice."
22. So he tricked them. When they tasted the fruit from the tree, their private parts became uncovered to them, and they started covering themselves with leaves from Paradise. Then their Lord called to them, "Didn't I tell you not to go near that tree? Didn't I say Satan is clearly your enemy?"
23. They said, "Our Lord, we did wrong to ourselves. If You don't forgive us and have mercy on us, we'll surely be among the losers."
24. Allah said, "Go down from here. You'll be enemies to each other. On earth, you'll have a place to live and things to enjoy, for a while."
25. He said, "On earth you'll live, on earth you'll die, and from earth you'll be brought out again."
26. Children of Adam, We gave you clothes to cover your bodies and to make you look nice. But the best thing to wear is to be good and obey Allah. These are Allah's signs, so people can remember.
27. Children of Adam, don't let Satan trick you, like he tricked your parents and made them leave Paradise. He took away their clothes, so they saw their bodies uncovered. Satan and his helpers can see you, but you can't see them. We made the devils friends of those who don't believe.
28. When they do something bad, they say, "We saw our parents doing this, and Allah told us to do it." Say, "Allah never tells people to do bad things. Are you saying things about Allah that you don't know?"
29. Say, "My Lord commands fairness. Turn your faces toward Him at every mosque, and pray to Him with all your heart. Just as He created you the first time, you'll return to Him."
30. Some people He guided, and some people became lost. They chose devils as their friends instead of Allah, and they think they're going the right way.
31. Children of Adam, wear your nice clothes whenever you go to the mosques. Eat and drink, but don't waste things. Allah doesn't love people who waste.
32. Say, "Who made it wrong to enjoy the beautiful things Allah gave His servants, and the good food He provided?" Say, "These things are for believers in this life, and only for them on the Day of Judgment." This is how We clearly explain Our verses for people who understand.
33. Say, "My Lord only forbids bad things done openly or secretly, sin, doing wrong to others without any right, worshiping others besides Allah without proof, and saying things about Allah that you don't know."
34. Every group of people has a set time. When their time comes, they can't delay it even a little, and they can't make it come sooner.
35. Children of Adam, when messengers from among you come to tell you My verses, whoever respects Allah and does good won't be afraid or sad.
36. But those who don't believe Our verses and proudly turn away from them, they'll be the people of the Fire. They'll stay there forever.
37. Who could be more unfair than someone who makes up lies about Allah or says His verses aren't true? Those people will get exactly what was written for them. When Our angels come to take their souls, they'll ask, "Where are those you used to pray to instead of Allah?" They'll say, "They've disappeared from us," and they'll admit against themselves that they didn't believe.
38. It will be said, "Enter the Fire with the groups of jinn and humans who went before you." Every time a group enters, they'll curse the group before them. When they're all together inside, the last group will say to the first group, "Our Lord, these people led us the wrong way, so give them double punishment in the Fire." He will say, "Each of you will have double punishment, but you don't know it."
39. Then the first group will say to the last, "You weren't better than us, so taste the punishment, because of what you used to do."
40. Those who didn't believe Our verses and were too proud to accept them — the gates of Heaven won't open for them, and they won't enter Paradise until a camel can pass through the tiny hole of a needle. That's how We punish those who do wrong.
41. They'll have beds from Hell below them, and covers of fire above them. That's how We punish those who are unfair.
42. But those who believe and do good things — We never ask anyone to do more than they can handle — they'll be the people of Paradise, and they'll stay there forever.
43. We will take away any bad feelings from their hearts. Rivers will flow beneath them, and they will say, "All praise belongs to Allah, Who guided us here. We wouldn't have found the right way if Allah hadn't guided us. Our Lord's messengers came with the truth." Then they will hear a voice calling out, "This is Paradise, given to you because of the good things you did."
44. The people of Paradise will call out to the people of the Fire, "We found what our Lord promised us was true. Did you find what your Lord promised was true?" They'll say, "Yes." Then someone will announce loudly, "Allah's curse is on those who did wrong."
45. Those who stopped others from following Allah's path, tried to make it crooked, and didn't believe in the Hereafter.
46. Between Paradise and the Fire, there will be a wall. On top of it, there will be people who recognize everyone by their faces. They'll call out to the people of Paradise, "Peace be with you!" They haven't entered Paradise yet, but they really hope to.
47. When their eyes turn toward the people of the Fire, they'll say, "Our Lord, please don't put us with those unfair people."
48. The people on the wall will call out to some people they recognize by their faces, saying, "Your groups and your pride didn't help you at all."
49. They'll say, "Are these the people you promised Allah would never show kindness to?" Then they'll be told, "Enter Paradise — you won't be afraid, and you won't be sad."
50. The people of the Fire will call out to the people of Paradise, "Please give us some water, or something that Allah gave you." They will answer, "Allah has forbidden these things for those who didn't believe."
51. Those people treated their religion like a game and a joke, and this life tricked them. Today, We forget them, just as they forgot about meeting this Day, and because they rejected Our signs.
52. We brought them a Book, and We explained it clearly with knowledge. It is guidance and kindness for people who believe.
53. Are they waiting for what it says to come true? On the day it comes true, those who forgot it before will say, "The messengers of our Lord brought the truth. Is there anyone who can speak for us now, or can we go back and do good things instead of the bad things we did?" They lost themselves, and the things they made up have disappeared.
54. Your Lord is Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth in six days. Then He rose above His throne. He covers the day with the night, which quickly follows it. The sun, the moon, and the stars all obey His command. Creating and commanding belong to Him. Blessed is Allah, the Lord of everyone and everything.
55. Pray to your Lord humbly and quietly. He doesn't love those who cross the limits.
56. Don't make trouble on earth after it has been made good. Pray to Him with hope and fear. Allah's kindness is close to those who do good.
57. He is the One Who sends the winds as good news before His kindness. When the winds carry heavy clouds, We send them to a dry land. Then We send down rain, and with it We bring out all kinds of fruits. In the same way, We will bring the dead back to life, so you can remember.
58. Good land grows plants easily by its Lord's permission. But bad land grows only a little. This is how We explain Our signs for people who are thankful.
59. We sent Noah to his people. He said, "My people, worship Allah. You have no other god but Him. I'm afraid you'll be punished on a great day."
60. But the leaders of his people said, "We think you're clearly lost."
61. Noah said, "My people, I'm not lost. I'm a messenger from the Lord of everyone and everything."
62. "I'm giving you my Lord's messages, advising you, and I know things from Allah that you don't know."
63. "Are you surprised that a reminder from your Lord came to you through a man from among you, to warn you, so you can be careful and so you might receive His mercy?"
64. But they called him a liar. So We saved him and those who were with him in the ship, and We drowned those who didn't believe Our signs. They were blind people.
65. And to the people of Aad, We sent their brother Hud. He said, "My people, worship Allah. You have no other god but Him. Won't you be careful to obey Him?"
66. But the leaders who disbelieved from his people said, "We think you're foolish, and we think you're lying."
67. Hud said, "My people, I am not foolish. I'm a messenger from the Lord of everyone and everything."
68. "I'm giving you my Lord's messages, and I am an honest advisor to you."
69. "Are you surprised that a reminder from your Lord came to you through a man from among you, to warn you? Remember, He made you leaders after Noah's people, and He made you strong and tall. Remember Allah's blessings, so you can succeed."
70. They said, "Did you come to make us worship only Allah, and leave what our fathers worshiped? Then bring us the punishment you're promising, if you're telling the truth."
71. Hud said, "A punishment and anger from your Lord have already come upon you. Are you arguing with me about names you and your fathers made up, names that Allah never gave you permission for? Wait then — I'm waiting with you."
72. So We saved him and those who were with him, by Our kindness, and We destroyed those who called Our signs lies. They didn't believe.
73. And to the people of Thamud, We sent their brother Salih. He said, "My people, worship Allah. You have no other god but Him. A clear sign has come to you from your Lord. This camel from Allah is a sign for you. Let her eat freely on Allah's land, and don't hurt her, or a painful punishment will come to you."
74. "Remember how He made you leaders after the people of Aad. He gave you homes on the earth — you build palaces on its flat lands and carve houses into mountains. Remember Allah's blessings, and don't cause trouble or spread bad things on earth."
75. The proud leaders from his people said to the weaker ones who believed, "Do you really think Salih was sent by his Lord?" They answered, "We believe in the message he brought."
76. The proud ones said, "We don't believe in what you believe."
77. Then they killed the camel and disobeyed their Lord's command. They said, "Salih, bring us the punishment you promised, if you're really a messenger."
78. So a powerful earthquake shook them, and in the morning, they were dead in their homes.
79. Salih turned away sadly and said, "My people, I gave you my Lord's message and tried to help you, but you don't like those who give good advice."
80. And remember Lot, when he said to his people, "You do such terrible things — no one in the world has ever done them before you."
81. "You go to men instead of women, following your desires. You're truly people who cross all limits."
82. But his people's only answer was, "Send them out of your town — they're people who want to stay pure."
83. So We saved Lot and his family, except his wife — she was one of those who stayed behind.
84. And We sent down a rain of stones on them. See how terrible the end was for those who did wrong!
85. And to the people of Midian, We sent their brother Shuayb. He said, "My people, worship Allah. You have no other god but Him. A clear proof has come to you from your Lord. So be fair when you measure and weigh things. Don't cheat people by giving them less than they deserve. And don't make trouble on earth after it has been made good. That's better for you, if you really believe."
86. "And don't sit on every road, scaring people and stopping those who believe in Allah from following His path, trying to make it crooked. Remember when you were few, and He made you many. And see what happened to those who made trouble."
87. "If some of you believe in the message I brought, and some don't, then wait patiently until Allah judges between us. He is the best Judge."
88. The proud leaders of his people said, "Shuayb, we will surely make you and those who believe with you leave our town, unless you come back to our way." Shuayb said, "Even if we don't want to?"
89. "We would be lying about Allah if we returned to your way after Allah saved us from it. We can't go back to it unless Allah, our Lord, wants us to. Our Lord knows all things. We trust in Allah. Our Lord, judge fairly between us and our people. You are the best Judge."
90. The leaders who disbelieved from his people said, "If you follow Shuayb, you'll surely lose."
91. Then a powerful earthquake took them, and in the morning they lay still in their homes.
92. Those who called Shuayb a liar were as if they had never lived there. Those who called Shuayb a liar were the real losers.
93. So Shuayb turned away from them and said, "My people, I gave you my Lord's messages and advised you. How can I feel sad for people who don't believe?"
94. Whenever We sent a prophet to a town, We tested its people with hard times and troubles, so they might become humble and pray.
95. Then We changed their troubles into good times, until they grew comfortable and said, "Our parents also had good and bad times." So We took them suddenly, when they didn't expect it.
96. If the people of the towns had believed and been careful to obey Allah, We would have opened blessings for them from the sky and the earth. But they didn't believe, so We punished them for what they did.
97. Did the people of the towns feel safe from Our punishment coming to them at night while they were sleeping?
98. Or did the people of the towns feel safe from Our punishment coming to them in the morning while they were playing?
99. Did they feel safe from Allah's plan? No one feels safe from Allah's plan except the losers.
100. Isn't it clear to those who took over the land after its people, that if We wanted, We could punish them for their mistakes? But We seal their hearts, so they don't listen.
101. These are the towns whose stories We tell you. Their messengers came to them with clear proofs, but they wouldn't believe, because they had already rejected the truth before. That's how Allah seals the hearts of those who don't believe.
102. We didn't find most of them keeping their promises. We found most of them disobeying Allah.
103. Then, after them, We sent Moses with Our signs to Pharaoh and his leaders. But they treated Our signs unfairly. So look at what happened to those who caused trouble.
104. Moses said, "Pharaoh, I'm a messenger from the Lord of the worlds."
105. "I must only say the truth about Allah. I've brought you clear proof from your Lord, so let the Children of Israel go with me."
106. Pharaoh said, "If you've really brought a miracle, then show it, if you're telling the truth."
107. So Moses threw down his stick, and suddenly it became an obvious snake.
108. Then he pulled out his hand, and it was shining white for everyone to see.
109. Pharaoh's leaders said, "This man is a very skilled magician."
110. "He wants to make you leave your land. So what do you suggest?"
111. They said, "Wait a while with him and his brother, and send messengers to all the cities."
112. "They'll bring you every skilled magician."
113. The magicians came to Pharaoh and said, "Will we get a reward if we win?"
114. Pharaoh said, "Yes, and you'll be very close to me."
115. They said, "Moses, will you throw first, or should we throw first?"
116. Moses said, "You throw first." When they threw, they tricked people's eyes, scared them, and did a big magic trick.
117. We told Moses, "Throw your stick." Then suddenly, it swallowed up all the tricks they had made up!
118. So the truth won, and all the things they had done became useless.
119. They lost right there, and they felt small and ashamed.
120. The magicians fell to the ground and bowed down.
121. They said, "We believe in the Lord of everyone and everything.
122. The Lord of Moses and Aaron."
123. Pharaoh said, "You believed in Him before I gave you permission? This is a trick you've planned in the city, to drive out its people. Soon you'll see what I'll do!
124. I'll cut off your hands and feet from opposite sides, then I'll crucify you all!"
125. They said, "We're going back to our Lord.
126. You're only angry with us because we believed in our Lord's signs when they came to us. Our Lord, pour patience over us, and let us die as Muslims."
127. Pharaoh's leaders said, "Will you let Moses and his people make trouble in the land, and leave you and your gods?" Pharaoh said, "We'll kill their sons and let their daughters live. We're much stronger than them!"
128. Moses said to his people, "Ask Allah for help, and be patient. The earth belongs to Allah, and He gives it to whichever of His servants He wants. The good ending is for those who are careful to obey Allah."
129. They said, "We were hurt before you came to us, and we're still hurt after you came." Moses said, "Maybe your Lord will destroy your enemy and make you leaders on earth. Then He'll watch to see how you act."
130. We made Pharaoh's people suffer years of hunger and less fruit, so they might remember and learn.
131. When something good happened to them, they said, "We deserve this." But when something bad happened, they blamed Moses and those with him. But their troubles were really from Allah, and most of them didn't understand.
132. They said to Moses, "No matter what miracle you show us to amaze us, we won't believe you."
133. So We sent them floods, locusts, lice, frogs, and blood — clear and detailed signs. But they acted proudly and kept doing wrong.
134. When the punishment came down on them, they said, "Moses, ask your Lord for us, because of the promise He made to you. If you take away this punishment, we'll believe you, and we'll let the Children of Israel go with you."
135. But when We took away the punishment for a short time, they broke their promise.
136. So We punished them and drowned them in the sea, because they didn't believe Our signs and didn't pay attention to them.
137. Then We gave the land, from east to west, that We had blessed, to the people who had been treated badly. Your Lord's good promise to the Children of Israel came true, because they were patient. And We destroyed everything Pharaoh and his people had built and all the things they made.
138. We brought the Children of Israel safely across the sea. Then they came to people who were worshiping idols. They said, "Moses, make a god for us, like the gods they have." Moses said, "You're acting foolishly."
139. "What these people worship will be destroyed, and what they're doing is wrong."
140. He said, "Should I find you a god other than Allah, when He has favored you above all other people?"
141. Remember when We saved you from Pharaoh's people. They were hurting you terribly — they killed your sons and let your daughters live. That was a very hard test from your Lord.
142. We promised Moses thirty nights, then added ten more. So the time set by his Lord was forty nights. Moses said to his brother Aaron, "Take my place among my people, do what's right, and don't follow the way of those who make trouble."
143. When Moses came to meet Us, and his Lord spoke to him, Moses said, "My Lord, let me see You." Allah said, "You can't see Me, but look at that mountain. If it stays in its place, then you'll see Me." When his Lord showed Himself to the mountain, He made it crumble into dust, and Moses fell down unconscious. When Moses woke up, he said, "Glory to You! I turn back to You, and I'm the first to believe."
144. Allah said, "Moses, I've chosen you above all people by giving you My messages and speaking to you. So take what I've given you, and be thankful."
145. We wrote on the tablets good advice and clear rules about everything. Allah said, "Hold onto these strongly, and tell your people to follow the best of what's written. I will show you the home of those who disobey."
146. I'll turn away from My signs those who act proudly on earth without any right. Even if they see every sign, they won't believe in it. If they see the right path, they won't follow it. But if they see the wrong path, they'll follow it. That's because they rejected Our signs and didn't pay attention to them.
147. Those who rejected Our signs and didn't believe they'll meet Allah in the Hereafter — all their good deeds are lost. Will they get anything except what they've earned?
148. After Moses left, his people made a calf from their jewelry — a statue that made a mooing sound. Didn't they see that it couldn't talk to them or show them the right way? Still, they worshiped it, and they did wrong.
149. When they realized their mistake and saw they had lost their way, they said, "If our Lord doesn't forgive us and show us kindness, we'll surely be among the losers."
150. When Moses returned to his people, he was angry and very upset. He said, "What an awful thing you've done after I left! Did you rush ahead of your Lord's command?" He threw down the tablets and grabbed his brother by the head, pulling him toward himself. His brother said, "Son of my mother, the people treated me badly and almost killed me. Please don't let our enemies laugh at me, and don't count me among those who did wrong."
151. Moses prayed, "My Lord, forgive me and my brother, and include us in Your kindness. You are the kindest of all."
152. Those who worshiped the calf will surely receive anger from their Lord and shame in this life. That's how We repay those who make up lies.
153. But those who did wrong things, then repented and believed — your Lord is forgiving and kind after that.
154. When Moses' anger calmed down, he picked up the tablets again. Written on them was guidance and kindness for those who respect their Lord.
155. Moses chose seventy men from his people to meet with Us. But when a strong shaking took hold of them, Moses prayed, "My Lord, if You wanted, You could have destroyed them and me before this. Will You destroy us because of what some foolish people among us did? This is only Your test — You guide whoever You want and let whoever You want lose their way. You are our protector, so please forgive us and show us kindness. You are the best at forgiving."
156. "And please write down good things for us in this life and in the Hereafter. We have turned back to You." Allah replied, "My punishment — I give it to whoever I want. But My kindness covers everything. I'll write it down for those who are careful to obey Me, who give charity, and who believe in Our verses."
157. They follow the Messenger, the Prophet who couldn't read or write, whose description they find written in the Torah and the Gospel. He tells them to do good things and stops them from doing bad things. He allows them to enjoy good and pure things, and he forbids them from harmful and dirty things. He takes away the heavy burdens and chains that were on them. Those who believe in him, respect him, help him, and follow the light sent down with him — they are the successful ones.
158. Say, "O people, I am Allah's Messenger to all of you. He rules the heavens and the earth. There is no god except Him. He gives life and causes death. So believe in Allah and His Messenger, the Prophet who couldn't read or write, who believes in Allah and His words. Follow him, so you can find the right way."
159. Among Moses' people, there is a group who guide others with truth and treat everyone fairly.
160. We divided them into twelve tribes, each a separate group. When Moses' people asked him for water, We told Moses, "Hit the rock with your stick." Then twelve springs of water flowed out from it. Each tribe knew exactly where to drink. We shaded them with clouds and sent down sweet food and tasty birds for them. We said, "Eat the good things We have given you." They didn't hurt Us, but they hurt themselves.
161. Remember when they were told, "Live in this town, and eat whatever you like there. Say, 'Forgive us,' and enter the gate bowing down. Then We will forgive your mistakes, and We will give even more to those who do good."
162. But some of them did wrong and changed the words they were told to say. So We sent down on them a punishment from the sky, because they did wrong.
163. Ask them about the town by the sea. They broke Allah's rule about the Sabbath. On the Sabbath day, fish would swim close to them, swimming openly. But on other days, no fish came near. This was how We tested them, because they kept doing wrong things.
164. Some of them asked, "Why do you keep reminding those who do wrong? Allah will punish them or destroy them anyway." They answered, "So we have an excuse before your Lord, and maybe they'll start doing good things."
165. But when they forgot the lessons they were taught, We saved those who warned others not to do bad things. And We punished those who did wrong with a painful punishment, because they kept disobeying.
166. When they stubbornly refused to stop doing what they were told not to do, We said to them, "Become monkeys, pushed away and ashamed!"
167. And remember when your Lord announced clearly that He would send people to punish them badly until the Day of Judgment. Your Lord is quick to punish, but He is also forgiving and merciful.
168. We spread them out into different groups all over the earth. Some of them were good, and some were not. We tested them with good times and hard times, so they might come back to doing what's right.
169. After them came new people who inherited the Book. But they took things from this world instead, saying, "We'll be forgiven." And if they saw another chance to get more things, they took it again. Didn't they promise in the Book to speak only the truth about Allah? They learned what was in it. The home in the Hereafter is better for those who are careful to obey Allah. Don't you understand?
170. As for those who hold tightly to the Book and pray regularly, We never let the reward of those who do good go to waste.
171. And remember when We lifted the mountain above them like a huge cloud. They thought it would fall on them. We said, "Hold tightly to what We gave you, and remember what's in it, so you can be close to Allah."
172. Remember when your Lord took from Adam's children — from their backs—their children, and made them say, "Am I your Lord?" They answered, "Yes, You are — we say it." This was so you wouldn't say on the Day of Judgment, "We didn't know about this."
173. Or so you wouldn't say, "It was our parents who worshiped others besides Allah before us, and we were just their children after them. Will You punish us for what those who did wrong before us did?"
174. This is how We clearly explain Our lessons, so they might come back to the right way.
175. Tell them the story of the man We gave Our verses to, but he turned away from them. Then Satan followed him, and he became one of those who lost their way.
176. If We wanted, We could have raised him high with Our verses. But he chose to stay attached to the earth and followed what he wanted. He is like a dog — if you chase it, it pants, and if you leave it alone, it still pants. This is the example of people who don't believe Our verses. So tell them these stories, so they might think carefully.
177. How bad is the example of people who don't believe Our verses — they're only hurting themselves.
178. Whoever Allah guides is truly guided. But whoever He leaves to lose their way — they're the ones who lose everything.
179. We created many jinn and humans for Hellfire. They have hearts, but they don't understand with them. They have eyes, but they don't see with them. They have ears, but they don't hear with them. They're like farm animals — no, they're even more lost. They're the ones who don't listen or care.
180. Allah has the most beautiful names, so call Him by them. And leave alone those who say wrong things about His names. They'll get what they deserve for what they did.
181. Among those We created, there are people who guide others with the truth, and they're fair and just.
182. Those who reject Our signs, We'll lead them step by step, without them even knowing.
183. I'll give them time. My plan is firm.
184. Haven't they thought carefully? Their friend isn't crazy — he's only a clear warner.
185. Haven't they looked at everything Allah controls in the heavens and the earth, and everything Allah created? Maybe their time is coming soon. So, after this, what else will they believe?
186. Whoever Allah lets go astray, no one can guide them. He leaves them wandering blindly in their wrongdoing.
187. They ask you about the Hour, "When will it happen?" Say, "Only my Lord knows it. No one but Him can show when it'll come. It's heavy in the skies and the earth. It'll only come suddenly." They ask you as if you know all about it. Say, "Only Allah knows it, but most people don't understand."
188. Say, "I can't help or harm myself, except what Allah wants. If I knew hidden things, I'd have gathered lots of good things, and nothing bad would ever happen to me. I'm only a warner and a bringer of good news for people who believe."
189. He's the One Who created you from one human being, and made from him his partner, so he could feel calm with her. When they came together, she became pregnant, and the baby was light at first. Then, when it became heavy, they both prayed to Allah, their Lord, "If You give us a healthy child, we'll surely be thankful."
190. But when He gave them a healthy child, they started to think others helped Allah give them the child. Allah is far above the partners they make.
191. Do they make partners with Allah who can't create anything, and are themselves created?
192. They can't help them, and they can't even help themselves.
193. If you call them to the right way, they won't follow you. It's the same whether you call them or stay quiet.
194. Those you call besides Allah are servants just like you. So call them, and let them answer you, if you're telling the truth.
195. Do they have feet to walk with? Or hands to strike with? Or eyes to see with? Or ears to hear with? Say, "Call your partners, then try your plans against me, and don't wait."
196. My protector is Allah, Who sent down the Book. He takes care of those who do good."
197. Those you pray to besides Allah can't help you, and they can't even help themselves.
198. If you call them to the right way, they don't hear you. You see them looking at you, but they don't really see.
199. Forgive others, tell people to do good, and stay away from those who act foolishly.
200. If Satan whispers something bad to you, ask Allah to protect you. He hears everything and knows everything.
201. Those who are careful to obey Allah, when Satan tries to trick them, they remember Allah — and suddenly they see clearly again.
202. But their brothers keep pulling them further into error, and they never stop.
203. When you don't bring them a miracle, they say, "Why didn't you choose one yourself?" Say, "I only follow what my Lord shows me. These words from your Lord are clear lessons, guidance, and kindness for people who believe."
204. When the Quran is read, listen carefully and quietly, so that Allah may be kind to you.
205. Remember your Lord quietly, with a humble heart, in the morning and evening. And don't be someone who forgets Him.
206. Those who are close to your Lord aren't too proud to worship Him. They praise Him and bow down to Him.
