In the name of Allah, the Most Kind, the Most Caring.
1. Prophet, why do you forbid yourself something that Allah has allowed for you, just to please your wives? Allah is forgiving and kind.
2. Allah has already made a way for you to undo your oaths. Allah is your protector, and He knows everything and is very wise.
3. The Prophet secretly told something to one of his wives. But when she told someone else about it, Allah let him know what happened. He told her part of it and didn't mention the rest. When he told her, she asked, "Who told you this?" He answered, "The One Who knows everything and is aware of all things told me."
4. If you two turn back to Allah, it's because your hearts have slipped. But if you both ally together against him, remember that Allah is his protector, and Gabriel, and all the good believers, and even the angels will help him.
5. If he divorces you, maybe his Lord will give him better wives than you — wives who obey Allah, believe strongly, pray sincerely, turn back to Allah, worship Him, fast often — those who were married before, and those who have never been married.
6. Believers, protect yourselves and your families from a Fire whose fuel is people and stones. Strong and strict angels guard it. They never disobey Allah, and they always do exactly what they're told.
7. Disbelievers, don't make excuses today. You're only being paid back for what you used to do.
8. Believers, turn back to Allah with a sincere repentance. Maybe your Lord will erase your mistakes and let you enter beautiful gardens with rivers flowing beneath. On that day, Allah won't embarrass the Prophet or those who believed with him. Their light will shine in front of them and on their right sides. They'll say, "Our Lord, please complete our light for us and forgive us. You have power over everything."
9. Prophet, struggle against the disbelievers and the hypocrites, and be firm with them. Their home will be Hellfire — what a terrible place to end up!
10. Allah gives an example for the disbelievers: the wives of Noah and Lot. They were married to two of Our good servants, but they betrayed them. Their husbands couldn't help them at all against Allah. They were told, "Enter the Fire with those who enter."
11. And Allah gives an example for the believers: Pharaoh's wife. She said, "My Lord, build me a home close to You in Paradise. Save me from Pharaoh and his bad actions, and save me from the people who do wrong."
12. And Mary, the daughter of Imran, who stayed good and pure. We breathed into her from Our spirit. She believed in the words of her Lord and His Books, and she was one of those who obeyed Allah sincerely.
