In the name of Allah, the Most Kind, the Most Caring.

1. All praise belongs to Allah, Who created the skies and the earth, and made darkness and light. But still, those who disbelieve treat others as equal to their Lord.

2. He is the One Who created you from clay, then decided how long you will live. He set a certain time known only to Him. But still, you doubt.

3. He is Allah in the skies and on the earth. He knows your secrets and what you say out loud, and He knows everything you do.

4. Whenever a sign from their Lord comes to them, they turn away from it.

5. They rejected the truth when it came to them. Soon, they'll see the results of what they used to laugh at.

6. Haven't they seen how many groups of people We destroyed before them? We gave those people power on earth — more than We gave you. We sent plenty of rain from the sky for them, and made rivers flow beneath them. But We destroyed them because of their wrong actions, and then We brought new people after them.

7. Even if We sent down to you a book written on paper, and they touched it with their own hands, the disbelievers would still say, "This is nothing but clear magic!"

8. They say, "Why wasn't an angel sent down to him?" But if We sent an angel, the matter would be finished, and they wouldn't get another chance.

9. And if We made him an angel, We would still make him look like a man, and they would still be confused, just as they are now.

10. Messengers before you were laughed at too. But soon, those who laughed at them faced exactly what they used to make fun of.

11. Say, "Travel through the earth, then see what happened to those who rejected the truth."

12. Say, "Who owns everything in the heavens and the earth?" Say, "Allah." He has promised Himself to be kind and caring. He will surely gather you all together on the Day of Judgment — there's no doubt about it. Those who lose themselves won't believe.

13. Everything that rests during the night and the day belongs to Him. He hears everything and knows everything.

14. Say, "Should I choose someone other than Allah as my protector? He's the One Who created the heavens and the earth. He feeds everyone, but He doesn't need food." Say, "I've been told to be the first to submit to Him, and don't ever be one of those who worship others besides Allah."

15. Say, "I'm afraid that if I disobey my Lord, I'll face punishment on a very big day."

16. Whoever is kept away from punishment on that day, Allah has truly been kind to him. That's the clearest success.

17. If Allah lets something harmful touch you, no one can take it away except Him. And if He lets something good touch you, He has power over everything.

18. He is the strongest, high above all His servants. He is wise and knows everything.

19. Say, "Whose testimony is the greatest?" Say, "Allah". He is the witness between you and me. This Quran was given to me, so I can warn you and everyone it reaches." Do you really say there are other gods besides Allah? Say, "I don't say that." Say, "He is only One God, and I have nothing to do with the things you worship besides Him."

20. Those who received the Book before know this truth as clearly as they know their own children. Those who lose themselves won't believe.

21. Who could be more unfair than someone who makes up lies about Allah or doesn't believe His verses? Those who do wrong will never succeed.

22. On the day We gather them all together, We'll say to those who worshiped others besides Allah, "Where are those partners you used to talk about?"

23. Then they'll have no answer except to say, "We swear by Allah, our Lord, we never worshiped others besides Him!"

24. Look how they lied about themselves, and the things they made up have disappeared from them.

25. Some of them listen to you, but We've covered their hearts, so they can't understand, and We've put heaviness in their ears. Even if they see every sign, they still won't believe. When they come to you, they argue, and those who disbelieve say, "These are just old stories."

26. They tell others not to listen, and they stay away themselves. But they're only hurting themselves, and they don't realize it.

27. If only you could see them standing by the Fire, saying sadly, "We wish we could go back! Then we wouldn't call our Lord's signs lies, and we'd be believers!"

28. But now they see clearly what they used to hide. Even if they went back, they'd do the same wrong things again — they're lying.

29. They say, "There's only this life, and we won't be brought back to life again."

30. If only you could see them standing before their Lord! He will say, "Isn't this the truth?" They'll answer, "Yes, by our Lord!" He will say, "Then taste the punishment, because you didn't believe."

31. Those who didn't believe they'd meet Allah have truly lost. When the Hour suddenly comes, they'll sadly say, "We're so sorry we didn't get ready!" They'll carry their mistakes on their backs — how terrible those mistakes are!

32. This life is just play and fun, but the next life is better for those who are careful to obey Allah. Won't you understand?

33. We know that what they say makes you sad. But they're not calling you a liar — they're just rejecting Allah's verses.

34. Messengers before you were also called liars, but they stayed patient, even when they were hurt, until Our help came to them. No one can change Allah's words. You've already heard some stories about those messengers.

35. If it's hard for you that they turn away, then if you could, try making a tunnel into the earth or a ladder up to the sky to bring them a sign. But if Allah wanted, He could have guided them all. So don't be one of those who don't understand.

36. Only those who listen will answer. As for the dead, Allah will bring them back to life, and then they'll return to Him.

37. They say, "Why hasn't a miracle come down to him from his Lord?" Say, "Allah has the power to send down a miracle, but most of them don't know."

38. Every animal on the earth and every bird flying with its wings are communities just like you. We haven't left anything out of the Book. Then they'll all be gathered back to their Lord.

39. Those who don't believe Our verses are deaf, unable to speak, and lost in darkness. Allah leaves whoever He wants lost, and guides whoever He wants to the straight path.

40. Say, "Think about this: if Allah's punishment came to you, or the Hour came to you, would you call anyone other than Allah, if you're telling the truth?"

41. No, you'd call only Him. Then, if He wants, He would take away the trouble you're calling Him about, and you'd forget the partners you used to associate with Him.

42. We sent messengers to people before you, and We tested them with hard times and troubles, so they might become humble and pray.

43. But when Our punishment came to them, why didn't they become humble and pray? Instead, their hearts became hard, and Satan made the bad things they did look good to them.

44. When they forgot the lessons they were reminded of, We opened the doors of everything for them. Then, just when they were happy with what they had, We suddenly punished them, and they lost all hope.

45. So the people who did wrong were completely destroyed. All praise belongs to Allah, the Lord of everyone and everything.

46. Say, "Think about this: if Allah took away your hearing and your sight, and sealed your hearts, what other god could give them back to you?" Look how clearly We explain Our verses, but still they turn away.

47. Say, "Think about this: if Allah's punishment came to you suddenly or openly, would anyone be destroyed except the people who did wrong?"

48. We send messengers only to give good news and to warn people. So whoever believes and does good things won't feel afraid or sad.

49. But those who don't believe Our verses will be punished, because they disobeyed.

50. Say, "I don't tell you that I have Allah's treasures, or that I know hidden things, or that I'm an angel. I only follow what Allah shows me." Say, "Is a blind person the same as someone who can see? Won't you think about this?"

51. Warn with the Quran those who are afraid of being gathered before their Lord. They won't have any protector or helper besides Him, so that they may become careful.

52. Don't send away those who pray to their Lord in the morning and evening, wanting to please Him. You're not responsible for judging them, and they're not responsible for judging you. If you send them away, you'll be doing something wrong.

53. This is how We test some people through others, so they say, "Are these the ones Allah chose instead of us?" Doesn't Allah know best who is thankful?

54. When those who believe in Our verses come to you, say, "Peace be with you. Your Lord has promised to be kind. If any of you does something wrong without knowing, then turns back to Allah afterward and fixes their mistake, Allah is forgiving and kind."

55. This is how We clearly explain the verses, so that the way of the criminals is clear.

56. Say, "I've been told not to worship those you pray to besides Allah." Say, "I won't follow your wishes. If I did, I'd lose my way and wouldn't be guided."

57. Say, "I'm following clear proof from my Lord, but you don't believe it. I don't have the punishment you're asking to hurry. Only Allah decides. He tells the truth, and He's the best judge."

58. Say, "If I had the punishment you're asking to hurry, everything between you and me would already be decided. Allah knows best who does wrong."

59. He has the keys to all hidden things — no one knows them except Him. He knows everything on land and in the sea. Not even a leaf falls without Him knowing it. There's no seed hidden deep in the earth, nothing wet or dry, except that it's written clearly in a book.

60. He is the One Who takes your souls at night and knows everything you did during the day. Then He wakes you up again, until your time on earth is finished. After that, you'll return to Him, and He'll tell you everything you did.

61. He is in control over His servants. He sends angels to watch over you. When death comes to one of you, Our angels take that person's soul, and they never make mistakes.

62. Then everyone returns to Allah, their true Master. He alone makes all decisions, and He is the quickest to judge fairly.

63. Say, "Who saves you from dangers on land and sea, when you call to Him humbly and secretly, saying, If He saves us from this, we'll be thankful?

64. Say, "Allah saves you from this danger and from every trouble, but still you worship others besides Him."

65. Say, "He has the power to send punishment from above you or from beneath your feet, or to divide you into groups and make you fight each other." Look how clearly We explain Our verses, so they might understand.

66. Your people say it's not true, even though it is the truth. Say, "I'm not responsible for what you choose."

67. Every message has its own time, and soon you'll know.

68. When you see people making fun of Our verses, turn away from them until they talk about something else. If Satan makes you forget, then as soon as you remember, don't sit with those unfair people.

69. Those who are careful to obey Allah aren't responsible for what those people do, but remind them kindly, so they might also obey Allah.

70. Leave alone those who treat their religion as a game and fun, and who are tricked by this worldly life. Remind them with the Quran, so that no soul is ruined for what it has done. They will have no one to help them except Allah, and even if they offer everything they have to save themselves, it will not be accepted from them. Those are the ones ruined by their own actions. They'll have a drink of boiling water and a painful punishment, because they didn't believe.

71. Say, "Should we pray to something other than Allah, something that can't help us or hurt us? Should we turn back after Allah has guided us, like someone lost on earth, confused, even though he has friends calling him to the right path, saying, 'Come with us'?" Say, "Allah's guidance is the true guidance, and we've been told to obey the Lord of the worlds."

72. And we've been told, "Pray regularly and respect Him." He's the One you'll all return to.

73. He's the One Who created the skies and the earth with truth. On the day He says, "Be," it happens. His words are true. On the day the trumpet is blown, the kingdom belongs to Him. He knows everything hidden and everything seen, and He's wise and knows all things.

74. Remember when Abraham said to his father Azar, "Do you really take statues as gods? I see clearly that you and your people are making a big mistake."

75. And that's how We showed Abraham the wonders of the skies and the earth, so he could be completely sure.

76. When night came and Abraham saw a star, he said, "This is my Lord." But when it disappeared, he said, "I don't like things that disappear."

77. Then, when he saw the moon shining brightly, he said, "This is my Lord." But when it disappeared, he said, "If my Lord doesn't guide me, I'll surely be one of the lost people."

78. Then, when he saw the sun shining brightly, he said, "This is my Lord — this is the biggest!" But when it disappeared, he said, "My people, I'm free from all the things you worship besides Allah."

79. "I've turned my face toward the One Who created the skies and the earth, believing only in Him. I'm not one of those who worship others besides Allah."

80. His people argued with him, but Abraham said, "Are you arguing with me about Allah, when He's already guided me? I'm not afraid of the things you worship besides Him, unless my Lord wants something. My Lord knows everything. Won't you remember?"

81. "Why should I be afraid of the things you worship besides Allah, when you're not afraid of worshiping things without any proof from Allah? Which group deserves to feel safe, if you really know?"

82. Those who believe and don't mix their belief with wrongdoing — they're the ones who will be safe, and they're the ones who are guided.

83. That was Our proof, which We gave to Abraham to use with his people. We raise up whoever We choose. Your Lord is wise and knows everything.

84. We gave Abraham Isaac and Jacob, and We guided them both. Before that, We guided Noah. And from Abraham's family, We guided David, Solomon, Job, Joseph, Moses, and Aaron. That's how We reward those who do good.

85. And Zachariah, John, Jesus, and Elijah — each one of them was righteous.

86. And Ishmael, Elisha, Jonah, and Lot — We favored each of them above all other people.

87. We also chose some of their fathers, their children, and their brothers. We guided them all to the straight path.

88. This is Allah's guidance. He guides whoever He chooses from His servants. If they had worshiped others besides Allah, all the good things they did would have been lost.

89. These are the ones We gave the Book, wisdom, and prophethood. If these people don't believe in it, We have entrusted it to others who do believe.

90. These are the ones Allah guided, so follow their guidance. Say, "I don't ask you for any reward. This is only a reminder for all people."

91. They didn't respect Allah as He deserves when they said, "Allah didn't give anything to any human." Say, "Who gave the Book that Moses brought as a light and guidance for people? You write it down on papers, showing some parts and hiding many others. You learned things you and your fathers never knew." Say, "Allah gave it." Then leave them to play around with their silly talk.

92. And this is a blessed Book We sent down, agreeing with what came before it, so you can warn the mother of cities and everyone around it. Those who believe in the Hereafter believe in this Book, and they carefully guard their prayers.

93. Who could be worse than someone who makes up lies about Allah, or says, "Allah gave me a message," when Allah didn't give him any message, or someone who says, "I'll send down something just like what Allah sent down"? If only you could see these wrongdoers when they're close to death, and the angels stretch out their hands, saying, "Give up your souls! Today you'll get a humiliating punishment, because you said things about Allah that weren't true, and you were too proud to accept His verses."

94. You've come back to Us all alone, just as We created you the first time. You've left behind everything We gave you. We don't see with you those helpers you claimed were partners with Allah. Now all your friendships are broken, and everything you believed has disappeared.

95. Allah splits open the seeds and the fruit pits. He brings out the living from the dead, and He brings out the dead from the living. That is Allah. So how can you turn away?

96. He makes the morning break through the darkness. He made the night for rest, and the sun and moon to help you count time. This is planned by the Mighty, the One Who knows everything.

97. He made the stars for you, so you can find your way in the darkness on land and sea. We have clearly explained the signs for people who understand.

98. He created you all from one human being. Then He gave you a place to live, and a place to be kept safe. We have clearly explained the signs for people who think carefully.

99. He sends down water from the sky. With it, We grow all kinds of plants. From these plants, We bring out fresh green leaves, and from them We grow grains packed closely together. And from palm trees come clusters of dates hanging low. And gardens of grapes, olives, and pomegranates — some fruits look alike, and some look different. Look at their fruits when they grow and ripen. These are signs for people who believe.

100. But they made the jinn partners with Allah, even though He created them. And they wrongly made up sons and daughters for Him without knowing. He is far above what they say about Him.

101. He created the heavens and the earth in a unique way. How could He have a child when He has no wife? He created everything, and He knows everything.

102. That is Allah, your Lord. There is no god except Him. He created everything, so worship Him. He takes care of everything.

103. Eyes can't see Him, but He sees all eyes. He is gentle and knows everything.

104. Clear lessons have come to you from your Lord. Whoever sees clearly, it's good for them. And whoever stays blind, it's bad for them. I'm not here to watch over you.

105. This is how We explain the signs in different ways, so they might say, "You learned this," and so We can make it clear for people who understand.

106. Follow what your Lord has revealed to you. There is no god except Him. And turn away from those who worship others besides Allah.

107. If Allah wanted, they wouldn't worship others besides Him. We didn't make you responsible for them, and you're not their guardian.

108. Don't say bad things about those they pray to instead of Allah, because then they'll say bad things about Allah without knowing. That's how We made each group's actions seem good to them. Then they'll return to their Lord, and He'll tell them what they used to do.

109. They promise strongly by Allah that if a miracle comes to them, they'll believe in it. Say, "Miracles come only from Allah." But how do you know that even if miracles come, they still won't believe?

110. We'll turn their hearts and eyes away, just as they didn't believe the first time. And We'll leave them confused, wandering in their wrongdoing.

111. Even if We sent angels down to them, and the dead spoke to them, and We gathered everything right in front of them, they still wouldn't believe, unless Allah wants. But most of them don't understand.

112. That's how We made enemies for every prophet — evil people and jinn who tell each other fancy words to trick others. If your Lord wanted, they wouldn't do that. So leave them alone with the lies they make up.

113. They do this so the hearts of those who don't believe in the Hereafter will listen to them, like what they hear, and keep doing what they're doing.

114. Should I look for a judge other than Allah, when He's the One Who sent down the Book to you, explained in detail? Those who received the Book before know it's truly sent from your Lord. So don't ever doubt it.

115. Your Lord's words are complete, true, and fair. No one can change His words. He hears everything and knows everything.

116. If you listen to most people on earth, they'll lead you away from Allah's path. They only follow guesses, and they're just making things up.

117. Your Lord knows best who is lost from His path, and He knows best who is guided.

118. So eat from what Allah's name has been mentioned over, if you really believe in His verses.

119. Why shouldn't you eat from what Allah's name has been mentioned over? He has clearly explained to you what He has forbidden, except if you're forced by need. Many people lead others away by following their own wishes without knowing. Your Lord knows best who crosses the limits.

120. Leave all sins — those you do openly and those you hide. People who do bad things will be punished for what they've done.

121. Don't eat anything if Allah's name wasn't mentioned over it, because that's wrong. Devils whisper to their friends to argue with you about this. If you listen to them, you'll be worshiping others besides Allah.

122. Is someone who was dead, then We gave him life and a bright light to walk among people, the same as someone stuck in darkness who can't get out? That's how the wrong things they do seem good to those who don't believe.

123. In every town, We let the biggest troublemakers plan bad things. But they're only hurting themselves, and they don't even realize it.

124. When a sign from Allah comes to them, they say, "We won't believe until we get the same thing Allah's messengers got." Allah knows best who should carry His message. Those who do wrong will be ashamed in front of Allah and will get a painful punishment for their sneaky plans.

125. When Allah wants to guide someone, He opens their heart to accept Islam. But when He lets someone go astray, He makes their heart tight and uncomfortable, as if they're climbing high into the sky. That's how Allah places impurity on those who don't believe.

126. This is your Lord's straight path. We've clearly explained the lessons for people who remember.

127. They'll have a peaceful home with their Lord. He takes care of them because of the good things they've done.

128. On the day Allah gathers everyone together, He'll say, "Jinn, you've tricked many humans." Their human friends will say, "Our Lord, we enjoyed each other's company, and now we've reached the time You set for us." Allah will say, "The Fire is your home, and you'll stay there forever, unless Allah decides otherwise." Your Lord is wise and knows everything.

129. That's how We let some wrongdoers become friends with other wrongdoers, because of the bad things they've done.

130. "Jinn and humans, didn't messengers come to you from among yourselves, telling you My lessons and warning you about meeting Me on this day?" They'll say, "We admit it against ourselves." Life in this world tricked them, and they'll admit they didn't believe.

131. Your Lord would never unfairly destroy towns while their people didn't know the truth.

132. Everyone will have different levels based on what they've done. Your Lord knows everything they do.

133. Your Lord doesn't need anyone, and He's full of kindness. If He wants, He can remove you and put others in your place, just like He created you from the children of other people.

134. What you've been promised will surely happen, and you can't stop it.

135. Say, "My people, keep doing things your way, and I'll keep doing things my way. Soon you'll see who gets the happy home in the end. Those who do wrong will never succeed."

136. They set aside part of the crops and animals Allah created, and they say, "This part is for Allah," as they claim, "and this part is for our partners." But the part for their partners doesn't reach Allah, while the part for Allah goes to their partners. How unfairly they decide!

137. In the same way, their partners made many who worship others besides Allah think it's okay to kill their own children. They did this to confuse them and mix up their religion. If Allah wanted, they wouldn't have done it. So leave them alone with the lies they make up.

138. They say, "These animals and crops are special. Only people we choose can eat them," as they claim. And there are animals they don't allow anyone to ride, and animals they don't mention Allah's name over, making up lies about Him. Allah will soon punish them for the lies they invent.

139. They also say, "Whatever is inside these animals is only for our men, and forbidden for our women. But if it's born dead, then everyone can share it." Allah will soon punish them for saying these things. He is wise and knows everything.

140. Those who foolishly harmed their own children without knowing, and who made forbidden the good things Allah gave them by making up lies about Allah — they have truly lost. They have gone far away from the right path, and they aren't guided.

141. He is the One Who created gardens — some with plants climbing up, and some without — and palm trees, crops with different tastes, olives, and pomegranates, some similar and some different. Eat their fruits when they grow, and give what is right on harvest day. But don't waste anything, because Allah doesn't love those who waste.

142. And He created animals — some for carrying loads, and some for food and clothing. Eat from the good things Allah gave you, and don't follow Satan's footsteps. He is clearly your enemy.

143. Allah created eight animals in pairs — two sheep and two goats. Ask them, "Did Allah forbid the two males, or the two females, or what the females carry inside them? Tell me clearly, if you're telling the truth."

144. And two camels and two cows. Ask them, "Did Allah forbid the two males, or the two females, or what the females carry inside them? Were you there when Allah gave you these rules?" Who is more unfair than someone who makes up lies about Allah to lead people away without knowing? Allah doesn't guide unfair people.

145. Say, "In what Allah revealed to me, I don't find anything forbidden to eat except animals that died by themselves, flowing blood, or pig meat — because that's dirty — or something that was offered to someone other than Allah. But if someone is forced to eat these things without wanting to disobey or going too far, then your Lord is forgiving and kind."

146. For those who followed the Jewish faith, We made some foods forbidden — like animals with claws. And from cows and sheep, We didn't let them eat the fat, except the fat on their backs, the fat around their organs, or the fat mixed with bones. We did this because of their wrongdoing, and We always tell the truth.

147. If they say you're not telling the truth, say, "Your Lord is very kind and very merciful, but no one can stop His punishment from people who do wrong."

148. Those who worship others besides Allah will say, "If Allah wanted, we wouldn't worship others, and neither would our parents, and we wouldn't make anything forbidden." People before them said the same thing, until they felt Our punishment. Say, "Do you have any proof? If you do, can you show it to us? You're only guessing and making things up."

149. Say, "Allah has the strongest proof. If He wanted, He could have guided all of you."

150. Say, "Bring your witnesses who say that Allah made these things forbidden." If they say it, don't say they are right. And don't follow the wishes of those who don't believe in Our verses, who don't believe in the Hereafter, and who treat others as equal to Allah.

151. Say, "Come, let me tell you what your Lord has forbidden: Don't worship anyone besides Him. Be kind and good to your parents. Don't kill your children because you're afraid of being poor — We will give you and them what you need. Don't go near bad things, whether they're done openly or secretly. Don't take anyone's life, because Allah has made life special, except when it's fair and right. This is what Allah tells you, so you can understand."

152. "Don't go near the money of an orphan, except to use it in the best way, until the orphan grows up. Be fair and honest when you measure or weigh things. We never ask anyone to do more than they can handle. When you speak, always tell the truth, even if it's about someone close to you. Keep your promises to Allah. This is what Allah tells you, so you can remember."

153. "And this is My straight path, so follow it. Don't follow other paths, because they'll lead you away from His path. This is what Allah tells you, so you can be careful to obey Him."

154. Then We gave Moses the Book, as a complete blessing for those who do good. It explained everything clearly, and it was guidance and kindness, so they could believe in meeting their Lord.

155. And this Book that We sent down is blessed, so follow it and be careful to obey Allah, so you can receive mercy.

156. Now you can't say, "The Book was only given to two groups before us, and we didn't know what they studied."

157. And you can't say, "If the Book had come to us, we would have followed it better than they did." Now clear proof, guidance, and kindness have come to you from your Lord. Who could be more unfair than someone who rejects Allah's verses and turns away from them? We will give those who turn away from Our verses a painful punishment, because they kept turning away.

158. Are they waiting for the angels to come to them, or for your Lord to come, or for some of your Lord's signs to appear? On the day when some of your Lord's signs appear, believing won't help anyone who didn't believe before, or didn't do good things while believing. Say, "Wait, because we're waiting too."

159. Those who split up their religion and divided into different groups — you have nothing to do with them. Their matter is with Allah, and He will tell them clearly what they used to do.

160. Whoever does a good deed will get ten times the reward. But whoever does a bad deed will only get punished equally for that one bad deed, and no one will be treated unfairly.

161. Say, "My Lord has guided me to a straight path — a good and true religion, the way of Abraham, who worshiped only Allah, and never worshiped others besides Him."

162. Say, "My prayers, my worship, my life, and my death are all for Allah, the Lord of everyone and everything."

163. He has no partner. This is what I've been told to do, and I am the first to give myself to Him."

164. Say, "Should I look for a lord other than Allah, when He is the Lord of everything? Each person is responsible only for what they do. No one will carry the mistakes of someone else. Then you'll all return to your Lord, and He will clearly tell you about the things you used to argue about."

165. He is the One Who made you caretakers of the earth. He raised some of you above others in different ways, to test you with what He has given you. Your Lord is quick to punish, but He is also forgiving and kind.
