In the name of Allah, the Most Kind, the Most Caring.

1. Everything in the heavens and the earth praises Allah. He is the Mighty, the Wise.

2. He is the One Who made the disbelievers from the People of the Book leave their homes at the first gathering. You didn't think they would leave, and they thought their strong forts would protect them from Allah. But Allah came to them from where they didn't expect, and He put fear into their hearts. They destroyed their own homes with their own hands, and the believers helped too. So learn from this, you who can see clearly.

3. If Allah hadn't decided they must leave, He would have punished them in this world. And in the Hereafter, they'll have the punishment of the Fire.

4. That's because they went against Allah and His Messenger. And whoever goes against Allah, Allah gives strong punishment.

5. Whatever palm trees you cut down or left standing, it was by Allah's permission, so He could shame those who disobeyed.

6. And whatever Allah gave to His Messenger from them — you didn't have to ride horses or camels to get it. But Allah gives His messengers power over whoever He wants. And Allah has power over everything.

7. Whatever Allah gave to His Messenger from the people of the towns belongs to Allah, the Messenger, his relatives, the orphans, the poor, and travelers. This way, it won't just go around among the rich people. Whatever the Messenger gives you, take it. And whatever he tells you not to do, stop doing it. And be careful to obey Allah. Allah gives strong punishment.

8. It's also for the poor people who left their homes and belongings, looking for Allah's kindness and happiness, and helping Allah and His Messenger. These people are truthful.

9. And those who lived in the city and believed before them — they love those who moved to them. They don't feel jealous about what others were given. They even share what they have, even if they really need it themselves. Whoever is protected from being selfish — those are the successful ones.

10. And those who came after them say, "Our Lord, forgive us and our brothers and sisters who believed before us. Don't let our hearts have any bad feelings toward those who believe. Our Lord, You are kind and caring."

11. Have you seen the hypocrites — those who pretend to be believers? They say to their friends who don't believe from the People of the Book, "If you're sent away, we'll go with you. We'll never, ever listen to anyone who tries to stop us. And if someone fights you, we'll surely help you." But Allah is witness that they are lying.

12. If the hypocrites' friends are sent away, the hypocrites won't go with them. If their friends are attacked, they won't help them. And even if they try to help, they will quickly run away, and then no one will help them.

13. They're more afraid of you than they are of Allah. That's because they're people who don't understand.

14. They won't fight you all together, except from behind strong walls or inside protected towns. They argue and fight a lot among themselves. You think they're together, but their hearts are divided. That's because they're people who don't understand.

15. They're just like those who lived a short time before them. They tasted the result of their bad choices, and they'll have a painful punishment.

16. They're also like Satan, when he said to a human, "Stop believing in Allah." But when the human stopped believing, Satan said, "I'm not responsible for you. I'm afraid of Allah, the Lord of everyone and everything."

17. So the end for both of them is that they'll be in the Fire forever. That's the punishment for those who do wrong.

18. You who believe, be careful to obey Allah. Each person should think about what they've prepared for tomorrow. And remember to obey Allah. Allah knows everything you do.

19. Don't be like those who forgot Allah, so He made them forget themselves. Those people are the ones who disobey Allah.

20. The people of the Fire and the people of Paradise aren't the same. The people of Paradise are the winners.

21. If We sent this Quran down onto a mountain, you'd see the mountain humble itself and break apart because of its respect for Allah. We give these examples to people, so they can think carefully.

22. He is Allah — there is no god except Him. He knows everything hidden and everything seen. He is the Most Kind, the Most Caring.

23. He is Allah — there is no god except Him. He is the King, the Most Pure, the Source of Peace, the Giver of Safety, the Guardian, the Mighty, the Strong, the Supreme. Allah is far above anything they worship besides Him.

24. He is Allah, the Creator, the Maker, the Shaper. He has the most beautiful names. Everything in the heavens and the earth praises Him. And He is the Mighty, the Wise.
