In the name of Allah, the Most Kind, the Most Caring.

1. Everything in the heavens and the earth praises Allah. He is the Mighty, the Wise.

2. He rules over the heavens and the earth. He gives life and causes death. He has power over everything.

3. He is the First and the Last, the One Who is clear and the One Who is hidden. He knows everything.

4. He created the heavens and the earth in six days, then He rose above His throne. He knows what goes into the earth, and what comes out of it. He knows what comes down from the sky, and what goes up into it. He is with you wherever you are. Allah sees everything you do.

5. He rules over the heavens and the earth. And all things return to Allah.

6. He makes the night go into the day, and the day go into the night. He knows what is in everyone's heart.

7. Believe in Allah and His Messenger, and give from what He has trusted you with. Those of you who believe and give charity will have a great reward.

8. Why don't you believe in Allah, when the Messenger is inviting you to believe in your Lord? He has already made a promise with you, if you truly believe.

9. He sends clear verses to His servant, to bring you out of darkness into the light. Allah is gentle and kind to you.

10. Why don't you spend your money to help in Allah's way, when everything in the heavens and the earth belongs to Allah? Those who gave and fought before the victory are higher in rank than those who gave and fought afterward. But Allah promises good things to everyone. Allah knows everything you do.

11. Who will lend Allah a good loan, so He can multiply it for them? They will have a wonderful reward.

12. On the Day you see believing men and women, their light will shine in front of them and on their right sides. They will hear good news: "Today you will have gardens with rivers flowing under them, and you will stay there forever." That is the greatest success.

13. On that Day, the hypocrite men and women will say to the believers, "Wait for us! Let us have some of your light!" They will be told, "Go back behind you and look for your own light." Then a wall with a gate will be placed between them. Inside it is mercy, but outside it is punishment.

14. They will call out to the believers, "Weren't we with you?" The believers will answer, "Yes, but you tricked yourselves, waited too long, doubted, and your wishes fooled you until Allah's command came. And the great liar tricked you about Allah."

15. So today, no payment will be accepted from you or from those who disbelieved. Your home is the Fire. It will take care of you now. What a terrible place to end up!

16. Isn't it time for those who believe to open their hearts gently to remembering Allah and the truth He sent down? Don't be like those who received Allah's Book before, but waited too long — so their hearts became hard, and many of them stopped obeying Allah.

17. Remember, Allah brings the earth back to life after it dies. We've made the verses clear for you, so you can understand.

18. Those who give charity — both boys and girls — and lend Allah a beautiful loan, He will multiply their reward, and they'll have a wonderful prize.

19. Those who believe in Allah and His messengers — they are the truthful ones and the witnesses with their Lord. They will have their reward and their light. But those who disbelieve and reject Our verses — they are the people of the Fire.

20. Remember, this life is just play, fun, decoration, showing off to each other, and trying to have more money and children. It's like rain that makes plants grow, amazing the farmers. But soon the plants dry up, turn yellow, and crumble away. In the Hereafter, there's strong punishment — but also forgiveness from Allah and His pleasure. This life is only a short, tricky enjoyment.

21. Hurry toward forgiveness from your Lord and a garden as wide as the sky and the earth, prepared for those who believe in Allah and His messengers. That's Allah's kindness — He gives it to whoever He wants. And Allah is full of great kindness.

22. Anything bad that happens on earth or to yourselves was already written in a book before We made it happen. That's easy for Allah.

23. So don't feel too sad about what you lose, and don't be too proud about what you get. Allah doesn't love anyone who's boastful or shows off.

24. Those who are stingy and tell others to be stingy too. If anyone turns away, remember, Allah is rich and deserves all praise.

25. We sent Our messengers with clear proofs, and We sent down with them the Book and the balance, so that people would act fairly and do what's right. And We sent down iron — it has great strength and many uses for people — and so Allah can see who helps Him and His messengers even though they can't see Him. Allah is strong and mighty.

26. And We sent Noah and Abraham, and We gave prophethood and the Book to their children and grandchildren. Some of them followed the right way, but many of them disobeyed.

27. Then We sent more messengers after them, and We sent Jesus, the son of Mary. We gave him the Gospel, and We put kindness and mercy into the hearts of those who followed him. But they made up a way of worship that We didn't tell them to do — they only wanted to please Allah, but they didn't follow it the right way. So We gave those who believed their reward, but many of them disobeyed.

28. You who believe, be careful to obey Allah, and believe in His Messenger. He will give you double His mercy, and He will give you a light to walk with, and He will forgive you. Allah is forgiving and kind.

29. So the People of the Book may know that they don't control any of Allah's favor, and that all kindness belongs to Allah — He gives it to whoever He wants. Allah is the owner of great kindness.
