In the name of Allah, the Most Kind, the Most Caring.

1. By the mountain.

2. And by a book written clearly.

3. On pages wide open.

4. And by the house that is always visited.

5. And by the high roof above.

6. And by the sea that is full.

7. Your Lord's punishment will surely happen.

8. No one can stop it.

9. On the day when the sky shakes strongly.

10. And the mountains move away.

11. On that day, how terrible it will be for those who called the truth a lie!

12. Those who played around, not caring about the truth.

13. On that day, they'll be pushed into the fire of Hell.

14. They'll be told, "This is the fire you used to say wasn't real.

15. Is this magic, or can't you see clearly?

16. Go into it now. Whether you're patient or not, it won't matter. You're only getting what you earned."

17. But those who were careful to obey Allah will be in beautiful gardens, enjoying happiness.

18. They'll be joyful because of what their Lord gave them, and He protected them from the punishment of the burning fire.

19. They'll be told, "Eat and drink happily, because of the good things you did."

20. They'll relax on soft couches lined up neatly, and We will give them beautiful companions with big, bright eyes.

21. Those who believed, and whose children followed them in believing, We will bring their children to join them. We won't reduce any of their good deeds. Everyone will get exactly what they earned.

22. We'll give them tasty fruits and meat — whatever they wish for.

23. They'll happily pass around cups of drink, with no bad words or wrong actions.

24. Young helpers will serve them, looking like hidden pearls.

25. They'll turn to each other, asking questions.

26. They'll say, "Before, when we were with our families, we used to be worried.

27. But Allah was very kind to us, and He saved us from the painful punishment.

28. Before, we used to pray to Him. He is the Most Kind and Most Loving."

29. So remind people, because by your Lord's blessing, you're not a fortune-teller or crazy.

30. Or do they say, "He's just a poet — we're waiting for something bad to happen to him"?

31. Say, "Wait then — I'm waiting with you."

32. Do their minds tell them to do this, or are they just people who cross the limits?

33. Or do they say, "He made it up"? No, they just don't believe.

34. Then let them bring a message like this, if they're telling the truth.

35. Were they created from nothing, or did they create themselves?

36. Or did they create the skies and the earth? No, they just aren't sure.

37. Or do they have your Lord's treasures, or are they in charge?

38. Or do they have a ladder to climb up and listen? Then let whoever listened bring clear proof.

39. Or does He have daughters, while you have sons?

40. Or do you ask them for money, so they're weighed down by debt?

41. Or do they know hidden things, and write them down?

42. Or are they planning something bad? Those who disbelieve will be the ones who lose.

43. Or do they have another god besides Allah? Allah is far above the partners they imagine.

44. Even if they saw a piece of the sky falling down, they'd say, "It's just a pile of clouds."

45. So leave them alone until they meet their day, when they'll be very scared.

46. On that day, their plans won't help them at all, and no one will save them.

47. And those who did wrong will have another punishment before that, but most of them don't know.

48. Be patient with your Lord's decision, because you're under Our care. And praise your Lord when you stand up.

49. And praise Him during the night, and when the stars fade away.
