In the name of Allah, the Most Kind, the Most Caring.
1. We have given you a clear victory.
2. So Allah may forgive your past and future mistakes, complete His blessing on you, and guide you on a straight path.
3. And Allah will help you with a strong help.
4. He is the One Who sent calmness into the hearts of the believers, so their faith could grow even stronger. All the armies of the heavens and the earth belong to Allah. Allah has always known everything and is very wise.
5. He will bring believing men and women into beautiful gardens, with rivers flowing beneath them, where they'll stay forever. He will remove their bad deeds. This is a great success with Allah.
6. And He will punish the hypocrite men and women, and those men and women who worship others besides Allah, who think bad thoughts about Allah. Bad things will come back to them. Allah is angry with them, has cursed them, and has prepared Hellfire for them. What a terrible place to end up!
7. All the armies of the heavens and the earth belong to Allah. Allah has always been mighty and wise.
8. We have sent you as a witness, to give good news, and to warn.
9. So you may believe in Allah and His Messenger, support him, respect him, and praise Allah in the morning and evening.
10. Those who promise loyalty to you are really promising loyalty to Allah. Allah's hand is above their hands. Whoever breaks their promise only hurts themselves. But whoever keeps their promise to Allah, He will give them a great reward.
11. Those who stayed behind from the desert people will say to you, "Our money and families kept us busy, so ask Allah to forgive us." They say with their tongues what isn't really in their hearts. Say, "Who can protect you from Allah if He wants to harm you or help you?" Allah knows exactly what you do.
12. Actually, you thought the Messenger and the believers would never return to their families. This idea seemed good to your hearts. You thought bad thoughts, and you became worthless people.
13. Whoever doesn't believe in Allah and His Messenger, We have prepared a blazing fire for the unbelievers.
14. The kingdom of the heavens and the earth belongs to Allah. He forgives whoever He wants, and He punishes whoever He wants. Allah has always been forgiving and kind.
15. Those who stayed behind will say, when you go to take treasures, "Let us follow you!" They want to change Allah's words. Say, "You can't follow us. Allah already said this before." Then they'll say, "You're just jealous of us!" But they understand very little.
16. Say to those who stayed behind from the desert Arabs, "Soon you'll be called to face people who are very strong. You'll either fight them, or they'll surrender. If you obey, Allah will give you a wonderful reward. But if you turn away again, like you did before, He'll punish you with a painful punishment."
17. There's no blame on the blind, or on those who can't walk well, or on the sick. Whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger, He'll bring them into beautiful gardens with rivers flowing beneath. But whoever turns away, He'll punish them with a painful punishment.
18. Allah was pleased with the believers when they made a promise to you under the tree. He knew what was in their hearts, so He sent calmness down on them, and He rewarded them with a victory coming soon.
19. And they will get many prizes. Allah is mighty and wise.
20. Allah promised you many prizes you'll receive. He gave you this one quickly, and He kept people's hands away from hurting you. He did this so it would be a clear sign for the believers, and to guide you on a straight path.
21. And there are other prizes you haven't gotten yet, but Allah has already surrounded them. Allah has power over everything.
22. If the disbelievers had fought you, they would've turned around and run away. Then they wouldn't find anyone to protect or help them.
23. This is Allah's way, and it has always been His way before. You'll never find any change in Allah's way.
24. He's the One Who kept their hands away from hurting you, and your hands away from hurting them, in the valley of Mecca, after He gave you victory over them. Allah sees everything you do.
25. They're the ones who disbelieved and stopped you from reaching the Sacred Mosque, and stopped your offerings from reaching their special place. If there hadn't been believing men and women there, whom you didn't know, you might've hurt them by mistake, and then you might do something wrong without knowing. Allah brings into His mercy whoever He wants. If the believers had been separated clearly from the disbelievers, We would've punished the disbelievers among them with a painful punishment.
26. Remember when the disbelievers filled their hearts with pride — the pride of the old days of ignorance. But Allah sent calmness into the hearts of His Messenger and the believers. He made them hold firmly to the words of righteousness. They were the most worthy and deserving of these words. And Allah knows everything.
27. Allah made His Messenger's dream come true. He showed him the truth: "You will enter the Sacred Mosque safely, if Allah wills, with your heads shaved or your hair cut short, without any fear." Allah knew things you didn't know, and He gave you a victory soon after.
28. He is the One Who sent His Messenger with guidance and the true religion, to make it clear and strong over all other ways. And Allah is enough as a witness.
29. Muhammad is Allah's Messenger. Those who are with him are strong against disbelievers, but kind and gentle with each other. You see them bowing and prostrating in prayer, hoping for Allah's favor and His pleasure. You can see a special mark on their faces from bowing down to Allah. This is how they were described in the Torah. And in the Gospel, they're described like a plant that grows and sends out new shoots. The shoots become strong, stand tall, and amaze the farmers. This makes the disbelievers upset. Allah promises those who believe and do good things forgiveness and a wonderful reward.
