In the name of Allah, the Most Kind, the Most Caring.
1. Ha. Meem.
2. Ayn. Seen. Qaf.
3. This is how Allah, the Mighty and Wise, sends messages to you and to those before you.
4. Everything in the heavens and the earth belongs to Him. He is the Highest, the Greatest.
5. The skies almost break apart above, and the angels praise their Lord and ask Him to forgive the people on earth. Remember, Allah is Forgiving and Kind.
6. Those who choose protectors other than Allah — Allah watches over them, and you aren't responsible for what they do.
7. And this is how We sent you the Quran in clear Arabic, so you can warn the people of the Main City and everyone around it. And warn them about the Day when everyone will be gathered together — there's no doubt about that Day. Some people will be in Paradise, and some will be in the Fire.
8. If Allah wanted, He could have made all people one group. But He brings into His kindness whoever He chooses. And those who do wrong won't have any protector or helper.
9. Did they choose protectors other than Allah? Allah is the true Protector. He brings the dead back to life, and He can do anything.
10. If you disagree about anything, Allah will decide it. This is Allah, my Lord. I trust Him, and I turn to Him.
11. He created the heavens and the earth. He made spouses for you from yourselves, and also pairs among the animals. He makes you grow and multiply this way. Nothing is like Him, and He hears and sees everything.
12. He has the keys to the heavens and the earth. He gives plenty to whoever He wants, and He gives less to whoever He wants. He knows everything.
13. He gave you the same religion He gave to Noah, and the same message We sent to you, and the same We gave to Abraham, Moses, and Jesus: "Follow the religion, and don't split into groups." It's hard for those who worship others besides Allah to accept what you're calling them to. Allah chooses whoever He wants, and He guides whoever turns to Him.
14. They only split into groups after knowledge came to them, because they were jealous and wanted to be right. If your Lord hadn't already decided to wait until a certain time, He would have judged between them right away. Those who received the Book after them are still unsure and confused about it.
15. So invite people to this message, and stay on the right path as you've been told. Don't follow their wishes. Say, "I believe in every Book Allah has sent down, and I've been told to be fair to all of you. Allah is our Lord and your Lord. We have our actions, and you have your actions. There's no argument between us and you. Allah will bring us all together, and we'll all return to Him."
16. Those who argue about Allah after people have accepted His message — their arguments are worthless before their Lord. He is angry with them, and they'll have a painful punishment.
17. Allah is the One Who sent down the Book with truth, and sent down the Balance. And how do you know? Maybe the Hour is near.
18. Those who don't believe in it want it to come quickly. But those who believe are worried about it, because they know it's true. Remember, those who argue about the Hour are far away from the right path.
19. Allah is gentle with His servants. He gives to whoever He wants. And He is strong and mighty.
20. Whoever wants the reward of the Hereafter, We will give them even more. But whoever wants only the reward of this world, We will give them some of it, but they'll have nothing in the Hereafter.
21. Do they have partners who made up rules about religion that Allah didn't allow? If Allah hadn't already decided to wait, He would have judged between them right away. Those who do wrong will have a painful punishment.
22. You'll see those who did wrong feeling scared about what they've done, because it will surely happen to them. But those who believe and do good things will be in beautiful gardens of Paradise. They'll have whatever they wish from their Lord. That's the greatest gift.
23. This is the good news Allah gives to His servants who believe and do good things. Say, "I don't ask you for any reward, except that you love and care for your family." Whoever does something good, We will give them even more good. Allah is forgiving and thankful.
24. Or do they say, "He made up lies about Allah"? If Allah wanted, He could seal your heart. But Allah erases lies and makes the truth clear with His words. He knows what's inside everyone's hearts.
25. He is the One Who accepts His servants' repentance, forgives their bad deeds, and knows everything you do.
26. He answers those who believe and do good things, and He gives them even more of His goodness. But those who don't believe will have a painful punishment.
27. If Allah gave lots of riches to all His servants, they would behave badly on earth. But He sends down just the right amount to whoever He wants. He sees and knows His servants very well.
28. He is the One Who sends down rain after people lose hope, and He spreads His mercy everywhere. He is the Protector, the One Who deserves all praise.
29. Among His signs are the creation of the skies and the earth, and all the living things He put in them. And He can gather them all together whenever He wants.
30. Whatever trouble happens to you is because of what your own hands have done, but He forgives many things.
31. You can't escape Allah anywhere on earth. And besides Allah, you have no protector and no helper.
32. And among His signs are the ships sailing on the sea, like tall mountains.
33. If He wants, He can stop the wind, and the ships would stay still on the water. These are signs for everyone who is patient and thankful.
34. Or He could sink the ships because of what people have done — but He forgives much.
35. Those who argue about Our signs will know that they have no escape.
36. Everything you've been given is just for enjoying this life. But what Allah has is better and lasts longer — for those who believe and trust their Lord.
37. And those who stay away from big sins and bad actions, and when they get angry, they forgive.
38. And those who answer their Lord, pray regularly, decide things by talking together, and give from what We have provided them.
39. And those who, when someone treats them unfairly, defend themselves.
40. If someone does something bad, the punishment should be equal to what they did. But whoever forgives and makes things better, Allah will reward them. He doesn't love those who do wrong.
41. If someone defends themselves after being treated unfairly, there's nothing wrong with that.
42. The blame is only on those who hurt people and treat others unfairly on earth without any right. They will have a painful punishment.
43. But whoever is patient and forgives — that's truly one of the best things to do.
44. If Allah lets someone lose their way, no one else can help them after that. You'll see those who did wrong, when they see the punishment, saying, "Is there any way we can go back?"
45. You'll see them brought close to the punishment, feeling small and ashamed, looking secretly from the corner of their eyes. Then those who believed will say, "The real losers are the ones who lost themselves and their families on the Day of Judgment." Remember, those who did wrong will stay in punishment forever.
46. They won't have any friends to help them besides Allah. If Allah lets someone lose their way, there's no way for them to find the right path.
47. Answer your Lord before a day comes that Allah won't turn back. On that day, you'll have nowhere to hide, you won't be able to say it didn't happen.
48. But if they turn away, We didn't send you to watch over them. Your job is only to deliver the message. When We let a human being taste kindness from Us, they're happy about it. But if something bad happens to them because of what they've done, then the human being becomes ungrateful.
49. Allah owns everything in the heavens and the earth. He creates whatever He wants. He gives daughters to whoever He wants, and He gives sons to whoever He wants.
50. Or He gives both sons and daughters together, and He makes whoever He wants unable to have children. He knows everything and can do anything.
51. Allah doesn't speak directly to any human being, except by sending a message, or speaking from behind a veil, or sending a messenger who tells His message by His permission. He is the Highest and the Wisest.
52. That's how We inspired you with a spirit from Our command. Before this, you didn't know what the Book was or what believing meant. But We made it a light, guiding with it whoever We want from Our servants. And you guide people to a straight path.
53. The path of Allah, Who owns everything in the heavens and everything on earth. Remember, all things return to Allah.
