In the name of Allah, the Most Kind, the Most Caring.

1. Ha. Meem.

2. This Book was sent down from the Most Kind, the Most Caring.

3. It's a Book whose verses are explained clearly, a Quran in Arabic, for people who understand.

4. It brings good news and gives warnings, but most people turn away, so they don't listen.

5. They say, "Our hearts are covered from what you're calling us to, our ears can't hear you, and there's a wall between us and you. So do what you want — we'll do what we want."

6. Say, "I'm just a human like you. Allah has shown me that your God is One God. So follow the right path to Him, and ask Him to forgive you. How terrible it will be for those who worship others besides Allah.

7. Those who don't give charity and don't believe in the Hereafter."

8. But those who believe and do good things will have a reward that never ends.

9. Say, "Do you really not believe in the One Who created the earth in two days, and do you set up others equal to Him? He is the Lord of everyone and everything."

10. He placed strong mountains on the earth, blessed it, and provided food for everyone there, all in four days — for those who want to know.

11. Then He turned to the sky, when it was smoke, and said to it and to the earth, "Come, willingly or unwillingly." They both said, "We come willingly."

12. So He made them into seven skies in two days, and He told each sky what to do. We decorated the nearest sky with shining stars and protected it. This is the plan of the Mighty, the All-Knowing.

13. If they turn away, say, "I warn you about a thunderbolt, like the thunderbolt that struck Aad and Thamud."

14. Messengers came to them from all sides, saying, "Don't worship anyone except Allah." But they said, "If our Lord wanted, He would have sent angels. We don't believe in what you've been sent with."

15. Aad acted proudly on earth without any right, and said, "Who is stronger than us?" Didn't they see that Allah, Who created them, is stronger than them? But they kept rejecting Our signs.

16. So We sent a roaring wind against them on terrible days, to make them taste a shameful punishment in this life. And the punishment in the Hereafter will be even more shameful, and no one will help them.

17. And as for Thamud, We showed them the right way, but they chose to be blind instead of following guidance. So a blast of humiliating punishment struck them, because of the things they did.

18. But We saved those who believed and were mindful of Allah.

19. On the Day when Allah's enemies are gathered and led to the Fire, they will be kept in ranks.

20. When they reach it, their ears, eyes, and skin will speak against them, telling about the things they did.

21. They'll ask their skin, "Why did you speak against us?" Their skin will answer, "Allah made us speak, the One who makes everything speak. He created you the first time, and you'll return to Him."

22. You didn't hide yourselves so that your ears, eyes, and skin would not testify against you. Instead, you thought Allah didn't know many of the things you did.

23. That thought you had about your Lord caused your ruin, and now you've become losers.

24. Even if they're patient, the Fire will still be their home. And even if they beg for another chance, they won't get it.

25. We let them have companions who made the things they did — before and after — seem good to them. So Allah's word came true against them, just like it did for other groups of jinn and humans before. They were all losers.

26. Those who disbelieved said, "Don't listen to this Quran, and make noise when it's read, so you can win."

27. We will surely make those who disbelieved taste a painful punishment, and We'll pay them back for the worst things they did.

28. That's the punishment for Allah's enemies — the Fire. That will be their home forever, because they rejected Our verses.

29. Those who disbelieved will say, "Our Lord, show us the two who led us the wrong way — from the jinn and humans. We'll put them under our feet, so they'll be the lowest of all."

30. Those who say, "Our Lord is Allah," and then stay on the right path — the angels will come down to them, saying, "Don't be afraid, and don't be sad. Be happy about the Paradise you were promised.

31. We're your friends in this life and in the Hereafter. In Paradise, you'll have everything your hearts wish for, and you'll have whatever you ask for.

32. A special welcome from the Most Forgiving, Most Kind."

33. Who speaks better words than someone who invites others to Allah, does good things, and says, "I'm one of the Muslims"?

34. Good actions and bad actions aren't the same. When someone treats you badly, respond with kindness. Then, the one who was your enemy will become like a close friend.

35. Only those who are patient can do this, and only those who are very fortunate can achieve it.

36. If Satan ever whispers bad thoughts to you, ask Allah to protect you from him. Allah hears everything and knows everything.

37. Among His signs are the night and the day, and the sun and the moon. Don't bow down to the sun or the moon. Bow down only to Allah, Who created them, if you truly worship Him.

38. But if they become proud and refuse, remember that those who are with your Lord praise Him night and day, and they never get tired.

39. Another of His signs is that you see the earth dry and still. But when We send down rain, it moves and grows plants. The One Who gives life to the earth will also bring the dead back to life. He can do everything.

40. Those who twist Our verses can't hide from Us. Who is better — the one thrown into the Fire, or the one who comes safely on the Day of Judgment? Do whatever you want, but He sees everything you do.

41. Those who reject the Reminder when it comes to them — this is a powerful Book.

42. Falsehood can't come near it from the front or from behind. It's sent down by the One Who is wise and praised.

43. Nothing is said to you except what was already said to the messengers before you. Your Lord is very forgiving, but He also gives painful punishment.

44. If We had made this Quran in another language, they would have said, "Why aren't its verses clear? How can it be in another language, when he speaks Arabic?" Say, "For those who believe, it's guidance and healing. But those who don't believe can't hear it, and for them, it's as if they can't see at all. They're being called from a faraway place."

45. We gave Moses the Book, but people argued about it. If your Lord hadn't already decided to wait, He would have judged between them. They're still very unsure and confused about it.

46. Whoever does good, it's good for themselves. Whoever does bad, it hurts only themselves. Your Lord is never unfair to His servants.

47. Only He knows when the Hour will come. No fruit comes out of its covering, and no woman carries or gives birth, without Him knowing. On the Day He calls them, "Where are those you worshiped besides Me?" they'll say, "We admit to You, none of us is a witness."

48. Everything they used to worship before will disappear from them, and they'll realize there's no escape.

49. People never get tired of asking for good things. But if something bad happens to them, they quickly lose hope and become very sad.

50. If We let them taste kindness after they've been hurt, they say, "This is because of me. I don't think the Hour will ever come. But even if I return to my Lord, He will surely give me something good." We'll surely tell those who disbelieved everything they did, and We'll surely let them taste a painful punishment.

51. When We give people blessings, they turn away and act like they don't care. But when trouble touches them, they pray long and hard.

52. Say, "Think about this: if the Quran really is from Allah, and you still don't believe it, who could be more lost than someone who argues so strongly against it?"

53. We'll show them Our signs everywhere around them and even inside themselves, until it becomes clear to them that this is the truth. Isn't it enough that your Lord sees and knows everything?

54. They're still unsure about meeting their Lord. But remember, He surrounds and knows everything.
