In the name of Allah, the Most Kind, the Most Caring.
1. This Book comes from Allah, the Mighty, the Wise.
2. We sent this Book to you with the truth, so worship Allah, being sincere and faithful to Him.
3. Remember, true worship belongs to Allah alone. But some people take others besides Allah as protectors, saying, "We only worship them so they can bring us closer to Allah." Allah will judge between them about what they disagree on. Allah doesn't guide anyone who keeps lying and refusing to believe.
4. If Allah wanted to have a child, He could have chosen anyone He created — but He is far above that! He is Allah, the One, the Powerful.
5. He created the heavens and the earth with truth. He wraps the night around the day, and He wraps the day around the night. He made the sun and the moon follow His command. Each one moves for a set time. Remember, He is the Mighty, the Forgiving.
6. He created you all from one human being, then made from him his partner. He gave you eight pairs of farm animals. He creates you inside your mothers, step by step, in three layers of darkness. This is Allah, your Lord. All power belongs to Him. There is no god except Him. So how can you turn away?
7. If you don't believe, Allah doesn't need you — but He doesn't like disbelief for His servants. If you're thankful, He likes that for you. No one will carry someone else's mistakes. Then you'll return to your Lord, and He'll tell you everything you did. He knows what's hidden inside your hearts.
8. When a human being is hurt, he calls out to his Lord, turning to Him for help. But when Allah gives him a blessing, he forgets that he ever called to Allah before. He sets up others as equals to Allah, leading people away from His path. Say, "Enjoy your disbelief for a little while. You're one of the people of the Fire."
9. Is this person better, or the one who prays humbly during the night, bowing and standing, careful about the Hereafter, and hoping for his Lord's kindness? Say, "Are those who know equal to those who don't know?" Only people who think carefully will remember.
10. Say, "My servants who believe, be careful to obey your Lord. Those who do good in this world will have good things. Allah's earth is wide and spacious. Those who are patient will get their reward without limit."
11. Say, "I've been commanded to worship Allah, being sincere and faithful to Him."
12. "And I've been commanded to be the first to become Muslim."
13. Say, "I'm afraid of the punishment of a great day if I disobey my Lord."
14. Say, "I worship Allah, being sincere and faithful to Him."
15. "You can worship whatever you want besides Him." Say, "The real losers are those who lose themselves and their families on the Day of Judgment. That's the clearest loss of all."
16. Above them will be layers of fire, and below them layers of fire. This is how Allah warns His servants. My servants, be mindful of Me.
17. Those who stay away from worshiping false gods, and turn back to Allah, will have good news. So give good news to My servants.
18. The people who listen carefully to what is said and follow the best of it — these are the ones Allah has guided, and these are the people who truly understand.
19. Can you save someone who is in the Fire, for whom the punishment is certain?
20. But those who are careful to obey their Lord will have rooms built high above each other, with rivers flowing beneath them. This is Allah's promise, and Allah never breaks His promise.
21. Don't you see how Allah sends down rain from the sky, then makes it flow as springs in the ground? Then He makes plants of different colors grow with it. Later, the plants dry up, and you see them turn yellow. Then He makes them crumble away. In this, there is a lesson for people who truly understand.
22. Is someone whose heart Allah has opened to Islam, so he is on a light from his Lord, the same as someone whose heart is hard against remembering Allah? Those people are clearly lost.
23. Allah has sent down the most beautiful message — a Book whose verses are similar and repeated. When people who deeply respect their Lord hear it, their skin shivers, then their skin and hearts become calm and soft, remembering Allah. This is Allah's guidance. He guides whoever He wants, and whoever Allah leaves lost, no one can guide.
24. What about someone who tries to protect himself with his face from the terrible punishment on the Day of Judgment? It will be said to those who did wrong, "Taste what you earned."
25. People before them also called it a lie, so punishment came to them suddenly, when they didn't expect it.
26. Allah made them taste shame in this life, but the punishment in the Hereafter is even greater, if only they had known.
27. We have given people all kinds of examples in this Quran, so they might remember.
28. It is a Quran in clear Arabic, without anything crooked, so they might be careful to obey Allah.
29. Allah gives an example: a man who has many masters who argue with each other, and another man who belongs to one master. Are these two men the same? All praise belongs to Allah, but most people don't understand.
30. You will die, and they will also die.
31. Then, on the Day of Judgment, you will argue with each other before your Lord.
32. Who could be more unfair than someone who lies about Allah and denies the truth when it comes to him? Isn't Hellfire the place for those who don't believe?
33. But those who bring the truth and believe in it — they're the ones who are careful to obey Allah.
34. They'll have whatever they wish for with their Lord. That's the reward for those who do good.
35. Allah will erase the worst things they've done, and He'll reward them for the best things they used to do.
36. Isn't Allah enough to protect His servant? But they try to scare you with others besides Him. Whoever Allah lets lose their way, no one can guide them.
37. And whoever Allah guides, no one can lead them astray. Isn't Allah powerful and able to punish?
38. If you ask them, "Who created the heavens and the earth?" they'll surely say, "Allah." Say, "Then think about those you pray to besides Allah. If Allah wants to harm me, can they stop His harm? Or if He wants to be kind to me, can they hold back His kindness?" Say, "Allah is enough for me. Those who trust, trust in Him."
39. Say, "My people, do what you can, and I will do what I can. Soon you'll know.
40. Who will receive a punishment that embarrasses them, and who will have a punishment that never ends."
41. We sent down the Book to you for all people, with the truth. Whoever follows the right way, it's for their own benefit. And whoever goes the wrong way, they're only hurting themselves. You're not responsible for what they do.
42. Allah takes people's souls when they die, and also when they sleep. He keeps the souls of those who have died, and He sends back the others until their time comes. In this, there are signs for people who think carefully.
43. Or have they taken others besides Allah as intercessors? Say, "Even if those others don't own anything and don't understand?"
44. Say, "All intercession belongs only to Allah. He rules the heavens and the earth. Then you'll all return to Him."
45. When Allah alone is mentioned, the hearts of those who don't believe in the Hereafter feel unhappy. But when others besides Him are mentioned, they become happy right away.
46. Say, "O Allah, Creator of the heavens and the earth, You know everything hidden and everything seen. You will judge between Your servants about the things they disagreed on."
47. If those who did wrong had everything on earth, and even another earth like it, they'd give it all away to escape the terrible punishment on the Day of Judgment. And they'll see things from Allah they never expected.
48. The bad things they did will appear clearly to them, and the things they used to laugh at will happen to them.
49. When a human being is hurt, he calls out to Us for help. Then, when We give him a blessing from Us, he says, "I got this because I'm smart." But it's really a test, and most of them don't know it.
50. People before them said the same thing, but what they earned didn't help them at all.
51. So the bad things they did came back to them. And the ones who do wrong now — the bad things they do will also come back to them, and they can't escape.
52. Don't they know that Allah gives plenty to whoever He wants, and He gives less to whoever He wants? In this, there are clear signs for people who believe.
53. Say, "My servants who have done wrong to themselves, don't lose hope in Allah's kindness. Allah forgives all sins. He is the Most Forgiving, the Most Kind."
54. Turn back to your Lord and obey Him, before punishment comes to you — then no one can help you.
55. Follow the best teachings sent down to you from your Lord, before punishment suddenly comes to you, when you don't even realize it.
56. Then someone might sadly say, "Oh, how sorry I am for not obeying Allah! I was one of those who laughed and made fun."
57. Or someone might say, "If only Allah had guided me, I would have been careful to obey Him."
58. Or someone might say, when he sees the punishment, "If only I had another chance, I would be one of those who do good."
59. But yes, My verses did come to you, and you said they weren't true. You acted proudly, and you were one of those who didn't believe.
60. On the Day of Judgment, you'll see those who lied about Allah — their faces will be dark. Isn't Hellfire the right place for those who act proudly?
61. And Allah will save those who were careful to obey Him, bringing them safely to a happy place. Nothing bad will touch them, and they won't feel sad.
62. Allah created everything, and He takes care of everything.
63. He holds the keys to the heavens and the earth. Those who don't believe in Allah's signs — they are the real losers.
64. Say, "Do you really want me to worship someone other than Allah, you who don't understand?"
65. It was revealed to you, and to those before you, that if you associate partners with Allah, all your deeds will be lost, and you'll become one of the losers.
66. Instead, worship Allah and be thankful.
67. They don't understand how great Allah really is. On the Day of Judgment, the whole earth will be in His hand, and the heavens will be folded up in His right hand. He is far above anything they join with Him.
68. The trumpet will be blown, and everyone in the heavens and on earth will fall down, except those Allah chooses. Then it will be blown again, and suddenly they'll all stand up, looking around.
69. The earth will shine brightly with the light of its Lord. The Book of everyone's deeds will be placed, and the prophets and witnesses will be brought forward. Everything will be judged fairly, and no one will be treated unfairly.
70. Everyone will be given exactly what they did, and He knows best what they do.
71. Those who didn't believe will be led to Hell in groups. When they arrive, its gates will open, and the guards will ask them, "Didn't messengers from among you come and read you your Lord's verses, and warn you about this day?" They'll say, "Yes, but the punishment has come true for those who didn't believe."
72. It will be said, "Enter the gates of Hell, where you'll stay forever." What a terrible home for those who were proud!
73. Those who were careful to obey their Lord will be led to Paradise in groups. When they arrive, its gates will open, and the guards will say, "Peace be upon you! You've done well, so come in and stay forever."
74. They'll say, "All praise belongs to Allah, Who kept His promise to us and gave us Paradise. Now we can live anywhere we want in Paradise." What a wonderful reward for those who did good!
75. You'll see the angels all around Allah's throne, praising their Lord. Everything will be judged fairly, and it will be said, "All praise belongs to Allah, the Lord of everyone and everything."
