In the name of Allah, the Most Kind, the Most Caring.

1. Saad. By the Quran, full of reminders.

2. But those who disbelieve are proud and always arguing.

3. How many groups of people before them have We destroyed? They cried out for help, but it was too late to escape.

4. They were surprised that a warner came from among them. The disbelievers said, "This man is a lying magician."

5. "Does he want to make all the gods into just one God? This is really strange!"

6. Their leaders went away, saying, "Keep going, and stay loyal to your gods. This is something planned."

7. "We've never heard anything like this from people before us. This is just a made-up story."

8. "Why was the message sent down to him instead of us?" Actually, they doubt My message, because they haven't yet tasted My punishment.

9. Do they have the treasures of your Lord's mercy — the Mighty, the Great Giver?

10. Or do they own the heavens, the earth, and everything between them? Then let them try to reach the sky if they can.

11. They're just an army that will be defeated, one of many groups.

12. Long ago, Noah's people, Aad, and Pharaoh — the one with strong buildings — didn't believe.

13. And Thamud, Lot's people, and the people of the forest — they were all groups who opposed the truth.

14. Each of them called their messengers liars, so My punishment came true.

15. These people here are only waiting for one loud shout — it will come suddenly, with no pause.

16. They say, "Our Lord, hurry and give us our share now, before the Day when everyone is judged."

17. Be patient with what they say, and remember Our servant David, who was strong and always turned back to Allah.

18. We made the mountains join David, praising Allah together in the evening and at sunrise.

19. And the birds gathered around him. All of them always turned to Allah with him.

20. We made his kingdom strong, and We gave him wisdom, and the ability to make clear decisions.

21. Did you hear the story of the people who were arguing, when they climbed over the wall into David's prayer room?

22. When they came in to David, he was scared. They said, "Don't be afraid. We are two people who are having a disagreement. One of us has been unfair to the other. Please judge fairly between us, don't be unfair, and show us the right way."

23. One said, "This is my brother. He has ninety-nine sheep, and I have only one sheep. But he said, 'Give me your sheep,' and he argued strongly with me."

24. David said, "He was unfair to you by asking for your sheep to add to his own. Many people who share things are unfair to each other, except those who believe and do good things — but there are only a few of them." Then David understood that We were testing him, so he asked his Lord to forgive him, bowed down, and turned back to Allah.

25. So We forgave him. He is close to Us, and will have a good place to return to.

26. "David, We made you a leader on earth, so judge fairly and with truth between people. Don't follow your own wishes, because that will lead you away from Allah's path. Those who go away from Allah's path will have a painful punishment, because they forgot the Day when everyone is judged."

27. We didn't create the sky, the earth, and everything between them for no reason. That is what those who don't believe think. So how terrible the Fire will be for those who don't believe!

28. Would We treat those who believe and do good things the same as those who make trouble on earth? Or would We treat those who are careful to obey Allah the same as those who do bad things?

29. This is a blessed Book that We sent down to you, so people can think deeply about its verses, and so those who understand can remember.

30. We gave David a son named Solomon. He was a wonderful servant, always turning back to Allah.

31. One evening, beautiful, fast horses were shown to him.

32. He said, "I loved these good things more than remembering my Lord—until the sun disappeared behind the horizon."

33. He said, "Bring them back to me!" Then he ran his hand over their legs and necks.

34. We tested Solomon and placed a body on his throne. Then he turned back to Allah.

35. He prayed, "My Lord, forgive me, and give me a kingdom that no one after me will ever have. You are the Great Giver."

36. So We made the wind obey him, gently blowing wherever he wanted.

37. And We made the devils obey him too — some built things, and some dived deep into the sea.

38. And others were tied up in chains.

39. We said, "This is Our gift, Solomon. You can give freely or hold back, without any limit."

40. And he has a special place close to Us, and a wonderful home in the end.

41. And remember Our servant Job, when he called out to his Lord, "Satan has hurt me with pain and suffering!"

42. Allah said, "Stamp your foot on the ground! Here is cool water for washing and drinking."

43. We gave Job back his family, and even more people with them, as a kindness from Us and a reminder for those who think carefully.

44. Allah said, "Take a bunch of grass in your hand and gently strike with it, and don't break your promise." We found Job patient. He was a wonderful servant, always turning back to Allah.

45. And remember Our servants Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob — they were strong and wise.

46. We chose them specially, always remembering the Hereafter.

47. They are truly among Our chosen, good servants.

48. And remember Ishmael, Elisha, and Dhul-Kifl. They were all good people.

49. This is a reminder. And those who are careful to obey Allah will have a wonderful home in the end.

50. Beautiful gardens, with gates wide open for them.

51. They'll relax there, asking for lots of tasty fruits and drinks.

52. And they'll have friends there, loyal and modest.

53. This is what you're promised for the Day of Judgment.

54. This is Our gift — it will never run out.

55. But those who disobey Allah will have a terrible home.

56. Hellfire. They'll enter it, and it's an awful place to rest.

57. They'll taste scalding water and the worst, coldest drinks.

58. And other punishments just as bad.

59. They'll be told, "Here's another group rushing in with you — there's no welcome for them! They'll burn in the fire."

60. The new group will say, "No, you're the ones who aren't welcome! You brought this punishment to us. What a terrible place to stay!"

61. They'll say, "Our Lord, whoever brought this punishment to us, give them double punishment in the fire!"

62. And they'll say, "Why don't we see those people we used to think were bad?

63. Did we make fun of them wrongly, or are we just not seeing them clearly?"

64. All this arguing between the people of the fire will truly happen.

65. Say, "I'm only here to warn you. There is no god except Allah, the One, the Mighty."

66. He is the Lord of the heavens, the earth, and everything between them — the Powerful, the Forgiving."

67. Say, "This is very important news.

68. But you turn away from it."

69. I didn't know anything about the angels high above when they were arguing.

70. It's only revealed to me that I'm a clear warner.

71. Remember when your Lord said to the angels, "I'm going to create a human from clay.

72. When I shape him and breathe My spirit into him, bow down to him."

73. So all the angels bowed down together.

74. Except Iblis. He was proud, and he was among the disbelievers.

75. Allah said, "Iblis, what stopped you from bowing down to the one I made with My own hands? Were you too proud, or did you think you were better?"

76. Iblis said, "I'm better than him. You made me from fire, and You made him from clay."

77. Allah said, "Then get out of here, because you're rejected.

78. My curse will be on you until the Day of Judgment."

79. Iblis said, "My Lord, then let me stay until the day people are brought back to life."

80. Allah said, "You can stay.

81. Until the day whose time is already set."

82. Iblis said, "By Your power, I'll lead all of them the wrong way.

83. Except Your special servants who are faithful."

84. Allah said, "Then this is the truth, and I speak only the truth.

85. I'll fill Hellfire with you and all those who follow you."

86. Say, "I don't ask you for any reward for this message, and I'm not pretending to be someone I'm not.

87. This is only a reminder for all people.

88. And after a while, you'll surely know its truth."
