In the name of Allah, the Most Kind, the Most Caring.

1. All praise belongs to Allah, Who owns everything in the heavens and everything on earth. All praise will belong to Him in the Hereafter too. He is wise and knows everything.

2. He knows what goes into the earth, and what comes out of it. He knows what comes down from the sky, and what goes up into it. He is kind and forgiving.

3. Those who don't believe say, "The Day of Judgment won't come to us." Say, "Yes, by my Lord, it will surely come to you. He knows everything hidden. Not even the tiniest speck in the heavens or on earth is hidden from Him — nothing smaller or bigger than that—everything is clearly written in His book."

4. He will reward those who believe and do good things. They will have forgiveness and special gifts.

5. But those who try hard to prove Our verses wrong — they will have a terrible and painful punishment.

6. Those who have knowledge can see that what was given to you from your Lord is the truth. It guides people to the path of the Mighty, the One Who deserves all praise.

7. Those who don't believe say, "Should we show you a man who says that after your bodies break apart into tiny pieces, you'll be created again?"

8. Did he make up lies about Allah, or is he crazy? No. Those who don't believe in the Hereafter are in punishment and far away from the right path.

9. Don't they see the sky and earth all around them, in front and behind? If We wanted, We could make the earth swallow them up, or drop pieces of the sky on them. In this, there's a clear lesson for every person who turns back to Allah.

10. We gave David special blessings from Us. We said, "Mountains and birds, sing praises to Allah along with him!" And We made iron soft for him.

11. We told him, "Make strong armor, and measure carefully when you link the rings together. And all of you, do good things. I see everything you do."

12. And for Solomon, We made the wind blow gently. It could carry him a month's journey in the morning, and another month's journey in the evening. We made melted copper flow easily for him. And some jinn worked for him, by his Lord's permission. If any of them disobeyed Our command, We made them taste a painful punishment.

13. They made for him whatever he wanted — beautiful buildings, statues, huge bowls like ponds, and heavy cooking pots that stayed in place. We said, "Family of David, do good things to show your thanks." But only a few of My servants are truly thankful.

14. When We decided Solomon should die, nothing showed the jinn he had died except a little creature of the earth eating away at his walking stick. When he finally fell down, the jinn realized that if they had known hidden things, they wouldn't have kept working so long in hard and tiring jobs.

15. The people of Sheba had a clear sign in their homeland: two beautiful gardens, one on the right and one on the left. They were told, "Eat from what your Lord gives you, and thank Him. Your land is wonderful, and your Lord is forgiving."

16. But they turned away, so We sent a huge flood against them. We changed their two lovely gardens into gardens with bitter fruit, thorny bushes, and a few small trees.

17. We punished them because they didn't believe. And We only punish those who are very ungrateful.

18. Between their towns and the towns We blessed, We placed many villages close together. We made the distances between them easy to travel, so they could journey safely by night and day.

19. But they said, "Our Lord, make our journeys longer!" They were unfair to themselves, so We made them into stories people tell, and We scattered them in all directions. In this are lessons for everyone who is patient and thankful.

20. Satan's guess about them came true — they followed him, except for a group of believers.

21. Satan had no real power over them. We only allowed this to see who believes in the Hereafter, and who is unsure about it. Your Lord carefully watches everything.

22. Say, "Call on those you think are gods besides Allah. They don't own even a tiny speck in the heavens or on earth. They have no share in them, and none of them helps Him."

23. No one can intercede with Allah unless He allows it. When the fear leaves their hearts, they ask, "What did your Lord say?" They answer, "The truth." And He is the Highest, the Greatest.

24. Say, "Who gives you food and everything you need from the heavens and the earth?" Say, "Allah does. Either we or you are on the right path, or in clear error."

25. Say, "You won't be asked about what we did, and we won't be asked about what you do."

26. Say, "Our Lord will bring us all together, then He will judge fairly between us. He is the Best Judge, and He knows everything."

27. Say, "Show me those you say are partners with Allah. Never! He is Allah, the Mighty, the Wise."

28. We sent you to all people, to bring good news and to warn them. But most people don't understand.

29. They ask, "When will this promise come true, if you're telling the truth?"

30. Say, "You have an exact day set. You can't delay it by even an hour, or make it come sooner."

31. The people who disbelieve say, "We won't believe in this Quran or in what came before it." If only you could see when these wrongdoers stand before their Lord! They will argue with each other. The weak ones will say to the proud ones, "If it wasn't for you, we would have believed."

32. The proud ones will say to the weak ones, "Did we stop you from following the right path after it came to you? No, you chose to do wrong yourselves."

33. The weak ones will say to the proud ones, "No, it was your tricks day and night. You kept telling us not to believe in Allah and to make others equal to Him." When they see the punishment, they will secretly feel sorry. We will put chains around the necks of those who disbelieved. Aren't they getting exactly what they did?

34. Whenever We sent someone to warn a town, the rich people there always said, "We don't believe in the message you brought."

35. They also said, "We have more money and children, and we won't be punished."

36. Say, "My Lord gives plenty to whoever He wants, and He gives less to whoever He wants. But most people don't understand."

37. Your money and your children won't bring you closer to Us. Except those who believe and do good things — those are the ones who will come closer. They will get double rewards for what they did, and they'll be safe in beautiful rooms.

38. But those who try hard to stop Our verses — they will be brought to the punishment.

39. Say, "My Lord gives plenty to whichever of His servants He wants, and He gives less to whoever He wants. Whatever you spend, He will replace it. He is the best Provider."

40. On the day when He gathers everyone together, He will say to the angels, "Did these people worship you?"

41. The angels will say, "Glory to You! You are our Protector, not them. They used to worship the jinn, and most of them believed in them."

42. Today, none of you can help or harm each other. And We will say to those who did wrong, "Taste the punishment of the Fire that you didn't believe in."

43. When Our clear verses are read to them, they say, "This man just wants to stop you from worshiping what your parents worshiped." They also say, "This is just a made-up lie." And when the truth comes to the disbelievers, they say, "This is clearly magic."

44. But We didn't give them any books to study, and We didn't send them any warners before you.

45. The people before them also didn't believe, even though these people didn't receive even a tenth of what We gave those before. They rejected My messengers, so see how terrible My punishment was!

46. Say, "I only ask you to do one thing: stand up for Allah, two by two or one by one, and think carefully. Your friend isn't crazy. He's just a warner to you before a painful punishment."

47. Say, "I haven't asked you for any reward — that's yours to keep. My reward comes only from Allah, and He sees everything."

48. Say, "My Lord sends the truth. He knows everything that is hidden."

49. Say, "The truth has come, and lies can't start anything or bring anything back."

50. Say, "If I go the wrong way, it only hurts me. But if I follow the right way, it's because my Lord shows me the way. He hears everything and is always near."

51. If only you could see when they become terrified! They can't escape, and they're caught from a place nearby.

52. Then they'll say, "We believe in it now!" But how can they reach it from so far away?

53. Before, they didn't believe in it, and they used to guess about things they didn't know, from far away.

54. Now they can't have what they wanted, just like what happened to others like them before. They were always full of doubts.
