In the name of Allah, the Most Kind, the Most Caring.

1. Alif. Lam. Meem.

2. This Book comes from the Lord of everyone and everything — there's no doubt about it.

3. Do they say, "He made it up"? No, it's the truth from your Lord, so you can warn people who didn't have anyone to warn them before. Maybe they'll find the right way.

4. Allah created the skies, the earth, and everything between them in six days. Then He rose above His throne. You don't have any protector or helper besides Him. Won't you remember?

5. He takes care of everything from the sky down to the earth. Then everything goes back up to Him, in a day that's as long as a thousand years of your counting.

6. He knows everything hidden and everything seen. He is the Mighty, the Most Kind.

7. He made everything He created good and beautiful, and He began creating the human being from clay.

8. Then He made everyone's children from a small drop of water.

9. Then He shaped the human being and breathed His spirit into him. He gave you hearing, sight, and hearts. But you hardly ever thank Him.

10. They say, "When we're lost in the ground, will we really be created again?" No, they don't believe they'll meet their Lord.

11. Say, "The angel of death, who's in charge of you, will take your souls. Then you'll return to your Lord."

12. If only you could see the guilty people hanging their heads down in front of their Lord, saying, "Our Lord, now we've seen and heard. Send us back so we can do good deeds. Now we're sure."

13. If We wanted, We could have guided every soul. But My word will come true: "I will fill Hellfire with jinn and people together."

14. So taste this punishment, because you forgot you'd meet this day. Now We've forgotten you. Taste the punishment that lasts forever, because of what you used to do.

15. Only those people believe in Our verses who, when they're reminded of them, bow down to the ground, praising their Lord. And they're never too proud.

16. Their sides leave their beds, as they pray to their Lord with hope and fear, and they give to others from what We gave them.

17. No one knows the wonderful surprises hidden for them, as a reward for what they did.

18. Is someone who believes the same as someone who disobeys? No, they're not equal.

19. Those who believe and do good things will have beautiful gardens to live in, as a reward for what they did.

20. But those who disobeyed will have the Fire as their home. Every time they try to get out, they'll be put back in, and they'll be told, "Feel the punishment of the Fire that you used to say was not true."

21. We'll let them taste a smaller punishment before the big punishment, so maybe they'll come back.

22. Who could be more unfair than someone who is reminded of his Lord's verses, but then turns away from them? We'll surely punish those who do wrong.

23. We gave Moses the Book, so don't doubt meeting Him. And We made it a guide for the Children of Israel.

24. We chose some of them as leaders, guiding others by Our command, because they were patient and believed strongly in Our verses.

25. Your Lord will decide between them on the Day of Judgment about the things they disagreed on.

26. Didn't they learn from how many people We destroyed before them? They walk through the places where those people used to live. There are clear lessons in this — won't they listen?

27. Don't they see how We send water to dry land, then grow plants from it, which their animals and they themselves eat? Won't they look carefully?

28. They ask, "When will this victory happen, if you're telling the truth?"

29. Say, "On the day of victory, believing won't help those who didn't believe before, and they won't get another chance."

30. So turn away from them and wait — they're also waiting.
