In the name of Allah, the Most Kind, the Most Caring.
1. Alif. Lam. Meem.
2. The Romans have been defeated.
3. In the nearest land — but after being defeated, they'll win.
4. In a few years. Everything belongs to Allah, before and after. On that day, the believers will be happy.
5. Because of Allah's help. He helps whoever He wants. He is Powerful and Kind.
6. This is Allah's promise. Allah never breaks His promise, but most people don't know.
7. They only know things about this life, and they don't pay attention to the Hereafter.
8. Haven't they thought carefully about themselves? Allah created the skies, the earth, and everything between them for a good reason, and for a set time. But many people don't believe they'll meet their Lord.
9. Haven't they traveled around the earth and seen what happened to people before them? Those people were stronger, they dug the earth, and built more than these people have built. Their messengers came to them with clear signs. Allah didn't treat them unfairly — they treated themselves unfairly.
10. Then, the end for those who did bad things was the worst, because they didn't believe Allah's signs and made fun of them.
11. Allah creates everything first, then He brings it back to life, and then you'll all return to Him.
12. On the Day when the Hour comes, those who did wrong will lose all hope.
13. None of the partners they worshiped will help them, and they'll stop believing in those partners.
14. On the Day when the Hour comes, people will be separated.
15. Those who believed and did good things will be happy in a beautiful garden.
16. But those who didn't believe, who said Our signs were not true, and who didn't believe they would meet Allah in the Hereafter — they'll be brought to punishment.
17. So praise Allah when evening comes and when morning arrives.
18. All praise belongs to Him in the skies and on the earth, in the late afternoon, and at noon.
19. He brings the living from the dead, and He brings the dead from the living. He gives life back to the earth after it has died. And you'll be brought back to life just like that.
20. One of His signs is that He created you from dust. Then suddenly, you're human beings spreading everywhere.
21. Another of His signs is that He created partners for you from yourselves, so you can feel calm and peaceful with them. He placed love and kindness between you. In this, there are signs for people who think carefully.
22. Another of His signs is the creation of the skies and the earth, and the differences in your languages and colors. In this, there are signs for people who know.
23. Another of His signs is your sleep at night and during the day, and your searching for His blessings. In this, there are signs for people who listen.
24. Another of His signs is that He shows you lightning, making you feel fear and hope. He sends down rain from the sky, bringing the earth back to life after it was dead. In this, there are signs for people who understand.
25. Another of His signs is that the sky and the earth stand firm by His command. Then, when He calls you with one call from the earth, suddenly you'll come out.
26. Everyone in the skies and the earth belongs to Him. They all obey Him.
27. He is the One Who begins creation, then brings it back again — and that's even easier for Him. He has the highest example in the skies and the earth. He is the Mighty, the Wise.
28. He gives you an example from your own lives: Do you share equally with those under your care the things We gave you, so that you're afraid of them just as you're afraid of each other? This is how We clearly explain the signs for people who understand.
29. But those who do wrong follow their own wishes without knowledge. Who can guide those whom Allah has let go the wrong way? They have no helpers.
30. So turn your face toward the true religion, following the way Allah made people from the start. Allah's creation never changes. This is the right religion, but most people don't know.
31. Always turn back to Him, be careful to obey Him, pray regularly, and don't be among those who worship others besides Allah.
32. Those people split up their religion and became different groups. Each group is happy with what it has.
33. When trouble touches people, they call out to their Lord, turning back to Him. But when He lets them taste His kindness, suddenly some of them start worshiping others along with their Lord.
34. They become ungrateful for what We gave them. So enjoy yourselves for now — you'll soon find out.
35. Did We send them any proof about the partners they say are with Allah?
36. When We let people taste kindness, they're happy about it. But if something bad happens to them because of what they've done, they quickly lose hope.
37. Don't they see that Allah gives plenty to whoever He wants, and He gives less to whoever He wants? In this, there are clear signs for people who believe.
38. So give your relatives their rights, and help the poor and travelers in need. That's better for those who want to please Allah, and they're the ones who will succeed.
39. Whatever extra money you give, hoping to get more back from people, it won't grow with Allah. But whatever charity you give, wanting to please Allah — those people will have their reward multiplied.
40. Allah is the One Who created you, then gave you what you need, then makes you die, then brings you back to life. Can any of your partners do any of these things? He is far above the partners they make for Him.
41. Trouble has spread on land and sea because of the bad things people have done. Allah lets them taste some of what they have done, so they might turn back.
42. Say, "Travel around the earth, and see what happened to the people who lived before. Most of them worshiped others besides Allah."
43. So turn your face toward the true religion, before a Day comes from Allah that no one can stop. On that Day, people will be separated into groups.
44. Whoever disbelieves, their disbelief will hurt only themselves. And whoever does good deeds, they're preparing for themselves.
45. Allah will reward those who believe and do good deeds by His grace. He doesn't love those who disbelieve.
46. And one of His signs is that He sends winds with good news, to let you feel His kindness, to make ships sail by His command, and so you can look for His gifts. Maybe you'll be thankful.
47. We sent messengers before you to their people, and they brought clear proofs. Then We punished those who did wrong. Surely, helping the believers is Our duty.
48. Allah is the One Who sends the winds, and they stir up clouds. He spreads the clouds in the sky however He wants, and breaks them into pieces. Then you see rain coming from between them. When He makes it fall on whichever of His servants He chooses, they become happy.
49. Even though before the rain came down, they had lost all hope.
50. So look at the signs of Allah's kindness — how He brings the earth back to life after it was dead. He will surely bring the dead back to life too. He has power over everything.
51. But if We send a wind that turns their plants yellow, they would still disbelieve afterward.
52. You can't make the dead hear you, and you can't make deaf people hear your call when they turn away.
53. And you can't guide blind people out of their mistakes. You can only make those who believe in Our verses hear you, because they're the ones who obey Allah.
54. Allah created you weak, then after weakness He gave you strength, and after strength He made you weak and old. He creates whatever He wants, and He knows everything and can do anything.
55. On the Day when the Hour comes, those who did wrong will promise they stayed only a short while. That's how they used to fool themselves.
56. But those who were given knowledge and faith will say, "You stayed exactly as long as Allah decided, until the Day of coming back to life. Today is that Day, but you didn't know."
57. On that Day, excuses won't help those who did wrong, and they won't get another chance to make things right.
58. In this Quran, We've given people all kinds of examples. But even if you bring them a clear sign, those who disbelieve will say, "You're only making things up."
59. That's how Allah seals the hearts of those who don't understand.
60. So be patient, because Allah's promise is true. And don't let people who don't believe make you feel upset.
