In the name of Allah, the Most Kind, the Most Caring.

1. Blessed is the One Who sent down the Quran to His servant, so he could warn all people.

2. He is the One Who rules the heavens and the earth. He has no child, and He has no partner in ruling. He created everything, and He planned it all perfectly.

3. But some people worship other gods instead of Him. Those gods can't create anything — they themselves were created! They can't help or harm themselves, and they have no power over life, death, or bringing people back to life.

4. Those who disbelieve say, "This Quran is just a lie he made up, and other people helped him do it." But they've said something unfair and untrue.

5. And they say, "These are just old stories he wrote down. They're read to him morning and evening."

6. Say, "The One Who knows every secret in the heavens and the earth sent it down. He is forgiving and kind."

7. And they say, "Why does this messenger eat food and walk around in the markets? Why wasn't an angel sent down to be with him and warn people?"

8. "Or, why wasn't a treasure given to him, or a garden he could eat from?" And those who do wrong say, "You're only following a man who's under a magic spell."

9. Look how they make up examples about you! They've become lost, and now they can't find the right way.

10. Blessed is the One Who, if He wanted, could give you something even better — gardens with rivers flowing under them, and beautiful palaces.

11. But they don't believe in the Day of Judgment. And We've prepared a blazing fire for those who don't believe in that Day.

12. When the fire sees them from far away, they'll hear it roaring and growling angrily.

13. And when they're thrown into a tight place inside it, tied up together, they'll cry out for help.

14. They'll be told, "Don't cry out for help just once today — cry out many times!"

15. Say, "Is that better, or the garden that lasts forever, promised to those who are careful to obey Allah? That garden will be their reward and their home."

16. They'll have whatever they wish for there, forever. This is a promise your Lord will surely keep.

17. On the Day He gathers them and the ones they worshiped besides Allah, He'll ask, "Did you lead My servants away from the right path, or did they lose their way by themselves?"

18. They'll answer, "Glory to You! It wasn't right for us to take any protectors besides You. But You gave them and their parents many good things, until they forgot Your message and became people who were lost."

19. Allah will say to those who worshiped others, "Now they've denied what you said. You can't escape punishment or get any help." And whoever does wrong among you, We'll make them taste a big punishment.

20. Every messenger We sent before you also ate food and walked around in the markets. We've made some of you a test for others — will you be patient? And your Lord sees everything clearly.

21. Those who don't expect to meet Us say, "Why don't angels come down to us, or why can't we see our Lord?" They've become very proud and stubborn.

22. On the day they finally see the angels, there won't be any good news for those who did wrong. The angels will say, "You're completely forbidden from any good!"

23. Then We'll turn to everything they did, and We'll make them like scattered dust.

24. On that day, the people of Paradise will have the best home and the nicest place to rest.

25. On the day when the sky splits open with clouds, and the angels come down all together.

26. On that day, the true kingdom will belong to the Most Merciful. And it will be a very hard day for those who didn't believe.

27. On that day, the one who did wrong will bite his hands and say, "Oh, I wish I had followed the way of the Messenger!

28. Oh no! I wish I hadn't chosen that person as my friend!

29. He led me away from Allah's message after it came to me." Satan always lets people down.

30. And the Messenger will say, "My Lord, my people left this Quran behind."

31. That's how We gave every prophet enemies from among those who did wrong. But your Lord is enough as a guide and helper.

32. Those who disbelieve say, "Why wasn't the Quran given to him all at once?" We sent it little by little to make your heart strong, and We recited it in a careful, clear way.

33. Whenever they bring you an example, We give you the truth and the best explanation.

34. Those who will be gathered on their faces and taken to Hell — they're in the worst place and completely lost.

35. We gave Moses the Book, and We made his brother Aaron his assistant.

36. We said, "Go, both of you, to the people who denied Our signs." Then We completely destroyed them.

37. And when Noah's people didn't believe the messengers, We drowned them and made them a lesson for people. And We've prepared a painful punishment for those who do wrong.

38. And Aad, Thamud, the people of the well, and many other groups in between.

39. We gave each of them examples to learn from, and We completely destroyed them all.

40. They've passed by the town that was rained on with a terrible rain. Didn't they see it? But they don't expect to come back to life.

41. When they see you, they only make fun of you, saying, "Is this the one Allah sent as a messenger?

42. He almost led us away from our gods, but we stayed strong with them." Soon, when they see the punishment, they'll know who's really lost.

43. Have you seen the one who takes his own wishes as his god? Can you be responsible for him?

44. Do you think most of them listen or understand? They're just like cattle — no, they're even more lost.

45. Haven't you seen how your Lord stretches out the shadow? If He wanted, He could make it stay still. Then We made the sun a guide for it.

46. Then We gently pull the shadow back toward Us.

47. He is the One Who made the night like a cover for you, sleep for resting, and the day for waking up and moving around.

48. He is the One Who sends the winds as good news before His kindness. And We send down pure water from the sky.

49. With it, We bring life to dry land, and We give water to many animals and people that We created.

50. We have shared this water among them, so they can remember. But most people refuse and aren't thankful.

51. If We wanted, We could send someone to warn every town.

52. So don't listen to those who don't believe, and try hard to teach them with this Quran.

53. He is the One Who made two seas flow side by side — one sea is sweet and fresh, and the other is salty and bitter. And He placed a barrier and a forbidden partition between them.

54. He is the One Who created people from water, then gave them families and relatives through birth and marriage. Your Lord has always had the power to do everything.

55. But they worship things other than Allah — things that can't help them or hurt them. But those who don't believe always help others against their Lord.

56. We sent you only to give good news and to warn people.

57. Say, "I don't ask you for any reward for this — only that whoever wants can choose the path to their Lord."

58. Trust the Living One Who never dies, and praise Him with thanks. He knows everything about the wrong things His servants do.

59. He created the skies, the earth, and everything between them in six days. Then He rose above His throne. He is the Most Kind — so ask about Him from someone who knows.

60. When they're told, "Bow down to the Most Kind," they say, "Who is the Most Kind? Should we bow down just because you tell us?" And this makes them turn away even more.

61. Blessed is He Who placed groups of stars in the sky, and put there a bright shining sun and a glowing moon.

62. He made night and day follow each other, for anyone who wants to remember Him or wants to be thankful.

63. The servants of the Most Kind walk gently on earth, and when foolish people speak rudely to them, they reply kindly, "Peace."

64. They spend the night praying to their Lord, bowing down and standing up.

65. They say, "Our Lord, keep the punishment of Hellfire away from us, because its punishment is terrible.

66. It's an awful place to stay and live."

67. When they spend their money, they're not wasteful or stingy — they stay right in the middle.

68. They never pray to any god except Allah. They never kill anyone, because Allah has forbidden it — except when it is fair. And they never break the special rules that Allah gave for husbands and wives. Whoever does these things will face punishment.

69. Their punishment will be doubled on the Day of Judgment, and they'll stay in it forever, ashamed.

70. But whoever is sorry, believes, and does good things, Allah will change their bad deeds into good deeds. Allah is always forgiving and kind.

71. Whoever repents and does good things has truly turned back to Allah.

72. And they never tell lies or say false things. When they pass by useless talk, they walk away respectfully.

73. When they're reminded of their Lord's verses, they don't ignore them as if they're deaf or blind.

74. They say, "Our Lord, give us joy from our spouses and children, and make us good examples for those who are careful to obey You."

75. These people will be rewarded with the highest rooms in Paradise, because they were patient. They'll be welcomed there with greetings and peace.

76. They'll live there forever. It's a wonderful place to stay and live.

77. Say, "My Lord wouldn't care about you if you didn't pray to Him. But you've rejected Him, so soon you'll face the punishment."
