In the name of Allah, the Most Kind, the Most Caring.

1. The believers have succeeded.

2. They're the ones who pray with humble hearts.

3. They're the ones who stay away from useless talk.

4. They're the ones who give charity.

5. They're the ones who guard their private parts.

6. Except with their husband or wife, or those under their care — then they're not blamed.

7. But whoever wants more than that — they're crossing the limits.

8. They're the ones who keep their promises, and take care of what they're trusted with.

9. They're the ones who carefully keep up their prayers.

10. These are the ones who will inherit.

11. They will inherit Paradise and live there forever.

12. We created the human being from a special kind of clay.

13. Then We placed him as a tiny drop in a safe place.

14. Then We turned the tiny drop into a little clinging thing, and We turned that into a small lump. Then We turned the lump into bones, and We covered the bones with flesh. Then We shaped it into a new creation — So blessed is Allah, the best of creators!

15. After all this, you'll surely die.

16. Then, on the Day of Judgment, you'll be brought back to life.

17. We created above you seven pathways, and We're never careless about Our creation.

18. We send down water from the sky in just the right amount, and We store it safely in the earth. And We can easily take it away.

19. With this water, We grow gardens of palm trees and grapevines for you. In these gardens, there are many fruits for you to eat.

20. And there's a tree that grows on Mount Sinai. It produces oil and a kind of dip for people to eat.

21. And in farm animals, there's a lesson for you. We give you milk to drink from inside their bodies. You get many other good things from them, and you eat some of them too.

22. And on them, and on ships, you're carried.

23. We sent Noah to his people, and he said, "My people, worship Allah. You have no other god but Him. Won't you be careful to obey Him?"

24. But the leaders who disbelieved from his people said, "He's just a human like you. He wants to be better than you. If Allah wanted, He would have sent angels. We've never heard of anything like this from our ancestors."

25. "He's just a man who's gone crazy. Wait and see what happens to him."

26. Noah prayed, "My Lord, help me, because they called me a liar."

27. So We told him, "Build the ship under Our watch and guidance. When Our command comes and water gushes out from the oven, take onto the ship two of every kind, and your family — except those who have already been judged. And don't ask Me about those who did wrong. They will surely drown."

28. "When you and those with you are safely on the ship, say, 'All praise belongs to Allah, Who saved us from the people who did wrong.'"

29. "And say, 'My Lord, let me land in a blessed place. You are the best at helping us land safely.'"

30. There are signs in this story, and We are always testing people.

31. Then, after them, We created another group of people.

32. We sent them a messenger from among themselves, who said, "Worship Allah. You have no other god but Him. Won't you be careful to obey Him?"

33. But the leaders from his people who disbelieved, who didn't believe they'd meet Allah in the Hereafter, and who enjoyed many good things in this life, said, "He's just a human like you. He eats what you eat, and drinks what you drink."

34. "If you obey a human like yourselves, you'll surely lose."

35. "Does he promise you that after you die, and become dust and bones, you'll come back to life?"

36. "Impossible, impossible! What he promises will never happen."

37. "There's only this life. We live, we die, and we'll never come back to life."

38. "He's just a man who made up lies about Allah. We won't believe him."

39. The messenger prayed, "My Lord, help me, because they called me a liar."

40. Allah said, "Very soon, they'll be sorry."

41. Then a loud blast struck them rightfully, and We made them like useless debris. So away with the people who did wrong!

42. After them, We created many other groups of people.

43. No group can hurry or delay the time set for them.

44. Then We sent Our messengers, one after another. Every time a messenger came to a group, they called him a liar. So We destroyed them, one after another, and made them stories from the past. So away with people who don't believe!

45. Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and clear proof.

46. To Pharaoh and his leaders. But they acted proudly and thought they were better than others.

47. They said, "Should we believe two humans like us, whose people are our servants?"

48. So they called them liars, and they were among those who were destroyed.

49. We gave Moses the Book, so his people might follow the right way.

50. And We made Mary's son and his mother a clear sign, and We gave them a safe, high place with fresh water to drink.

51. Messengers, eat good and healthy things, and do good deeds. I know everything you do.

52. Your community is one community, and I am your Lord, so be mindful of Me.

53. But they divided themselves into separate groups, each group happy with what they have.

54. So leave them in their confusion for a while.

55. Do they think, because We give them lots of money and children.

56. That We're hurrying to do good for them? No, they do not realize.

57. Those who feel worried because they respect their Lord.

58. And those who believe in the signs of their Lord.

59. And those who don't associate partners with their Lord.

60. And those who give what they give, with worried hearts, because they know they'll return to their Lord.

61. They're the ones who hurry to do good things, and they're the first to do them.

62. We never ask anyone to do more than they can handle. We have a book that tells the truth, and no one will be treated unfairly.

63. But their hearts are confused about this, and they have other things they keep doing.

64. Then, when We punish those who lived easy lives, they cry loudly for help.

65. Don't cry loudly today. You won't get any help from Us.

66. My verses were read to you, but you turned away and went backward.

67. Acting proud, staying up at night talking, and turning away from the message.

68. Didn't they think carefully about these words? Or did something come to them that didn't come to their parents before?

69. Or don't they recognize their messenger, so they don't accept him?

70. Or do they say, "He has gone crazy"? No, he brought them the truth, but most of them don't like the truth.

71. If the truth followed what they wanted, the skies, the earth, and everything in them would be ruined. But We brought them their reminder, and they turn away from their reminder.

72. Are you asking them for payment? The reward from your Lord is better, and He's the best provider.

73. You're inviting them to a straight path.

74. But those who don't believe in the Hereafter turn away from the straight path.

75. Even if We showed them mercy and took away their troubles, they'd still keep doing wrong things, wandering blindly.

76. We punished them, but they didn't become humble before their Lord, and they didn't pray to Him.

77. Until, when We open a door of strong punishment for them, they'll lose all hope.

78. He is the One Who made ears, eyes, and hearts for you. But you hardly ever thank Him.

79. He is the One Who spread you all over the earth, and you'll all be gathered to Him.

80. He is the One Who gives life and causes death, and He is the One Who makes night and day alternate. Will you not use your minds?

81. But they say the same things people long ago said.

82. They say, "When we die and become dust and bones, will we really come back to life?"

83. "We and our parents were promised this before. These are just stories from long ago."

84. Say, "Who owns the earth and everyone on it, if you know?"

85. They'll say, "Allah." Say, "Then won't you remember?"

86. Say, "Who is the Lord of the seven heavens and the Great Throne?"

87. They'll say, "Allah." Say, "Then won't you be careful to obey Him?"

88. Say, "Who controls everything and protects, but no one can protect anyone from Him? If you know, tell me."

89. They'll say, "Allah." Say, "Then how can you be tricked?"

90. We brought them the truth, but they are lying.

91. Allah never had a child, and there's no other god with Him. If there were other gods, each one would take away what he created, and they would try to be stronger than each other. Allah is far above what they say about Him.

92. He knows everything hidden and everything seen. He's far above the partners they give Him.

93. Say, "My Lord, if You show me what they're promised,".

94. "My Lord, don't put me with people who do wrong."

95. We have the power to show you what We promised them.

96. If someone does something bad to you, respond with something better. We know exactly what they're saying.

97. And say, "My Lord, I ask You to protect me from the whispers of devils."

98. "And I ask You, my Lord, to keep them away from me."

99. Until, when death comes to one of them, he says, "My Lord, send me back,".

100. "So I can do good things that I left behind." No! These are just words he's saying. And behind them is a barrier until the Day they're raised up.

101. When the trumpet is blown, no one will care about family ties anymore, and no one will ask about each other.

102. Those whose good deeds are heavy on the scales — they are the ones who will be happy and successful.

103. But those whose good deeds are light — they are the ones who have lost themselves, and they will stay in Hell forever.

104. The fire will burn their faces, and their faces will be twisted and ugly there.

105. Allah will say, "Weren't My verses read out loud to you? But you didn't believe them."

106. They will say, "Our Lord, our bad choices overcame us, and we were people who lost our way."

107. "Our Lord, please take us out of here. If we do it again, then we would really be wrong."

108. Allah will say, "Stay there and be silent, and don't speak to Me."

109. "Some of My servants used to say, 'Our Lord, we believe, so forgive us and be kind to us. You are the best at showing kindness.'"

110. "But you made fun of them, until you forgot to remember Me, and you laughed at them."

111. "Today, I have rewarded them for being patient. They are the ones who have won."

112. Allah will ask, "How many years did you stay on earth?"

113. They will say, "We stayed for a day, or maybe part of a day. Ask those who kept count."

114. Allah will say, "You stayed only a little while, if only you knew."

115. "Did you think We created you without a reason, and that you wouldn't come back to Us?"

116. Allah is high above everything — the true King. There is no god except Him, the Lord of the Special Throne.

117. Whoever prays to another god besides Allah, without any proof, will have to answer to his Lord. Those who don't believe will never succeed.

118. And say, "My Lord, forgive me and be kind to me. You are the best at showing kindness."
