In the name of Allah, the Most Kind, the Most Caring.

1. Kaf. Ha. Ya. Ayn. Saad.

2. This is the story of your Lord's kindness to His servant, Zechariah.

3. When he quietly called out to his Lord.

4. He said, "My Lord, my bones have become weak, and my hair has turned white. But You've always answered my prayers, my Lord."

5. "I'm worried about my relatives after me, and my wife can't have children. So please give me, from Yourself, a guardian."

6. "Who will inherit from me and from the family of Jacob. And please, my Lord, make him someone You're happy with."

7. "Zechariah, We give you good news of a boy named John. We've never given this name to anyone before."

8. Zechariah said, "My Lord, how can I have a boy? My wife can't have children, and I'm very old."

9. Allah said, "It will be just like that. Your Lord says, 'It's easy for Me. I created you before, when you were nothing.'"

10. Zechariah said, "My Lord, please give me a sign." Allah said, "Your sign is that you won't speak to people for three nights, even though you're healthy."

11. So he came out to his people from his prayer room, and he signaled to them to praise Allah in the morning and evening.

12. "John, hold on tightly to the Book." And We gave him wisdom even when he was a child.

13. And kindness and purity from Us. He was kind, pure, and Allah-fearing.

14. He was good to his parents, and was never bossy or disobedient.

15. Peace was with him the day he was born, the day he will die, and the day he will be raised alive.

16. And mention Mary in the Book, when she went away from her family to a place in the east.

17. She put up a curtain to be alone from them. Then We sent Our Spirit to her, and he appeared to her as a real human being.

18. She said, "I ask the Most Kind Allah to protect me from you, if you're Allah-fearing."

19. He said, "I'm only a messenger from your Lord, to give you the gift of a pure boy."

20. She said, "How can I have a boy, when no human has touched me, and I've never done anything wrong?"

21. He said, "It will be just like that. Your Lord says, 'It's easy for Me.' And We will make him a sign for people and a kindness from Us. This has already been decided."

22. So she carried him, and went far away to a quiet place.

23. Then the pains of childbirth brought her to the trunk of a palm tree. She said, "I wish I had died before this, and been completely forgotten!"

24. But a voice called to her from below, "Don't be sad! Your Lord has made a stream of water flow beneath you.

25. Shake the trunk of the palm tree toward you, and fresh, ripe dates will fall down for you.

26. So eat, drink, and feel comforted. And if you see anyone, say, 'I promised the Most Merciful to stay silent, so today I won't speak to any person.'"

27. Then she brought the baby to her people, carrying him. They said, "Mary, you've done something very strange!

28. Sister of Aaron, your father wasn't a bad man, and your mother wasn't a bad woman!"

29. So she pointed to the baby. They said, "How can we talk to a little child who's still in the cradle?"

30. The baby said, "I am Allah's servant. He gave me the Book and made me a prophet.

31. He made me blessed wherever I am, and He told me to pray and give charity as long as I live.

32. And He made me kind to my mother, and didn't make me mean or miserable.

33. Peace is on me the day I was born, the day I die, and the day I'm brought back to life."

34. That is Jesus, the son of Mary — the true story that people argue about.

35. Allah would never have a child — He is far above that! When He decides something, He just says, "Be," and it happens.

36. And Jesus said, "Allah is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. This is the straight path."

37. But different groups argued among themselves. How terrible it will be for those who disbelieve on the Day of the great event!

38. How clearly they'll hear and see on the Day they come to Us! But today, those who do wrong are completely lost.

39. Warn them about the Day of Regret, when everything will be decided. Right now, they're not paying attention, and they don't believe.

40. We will inherit the earth and everyone on it, and they'll all return to Us.

41. And mention Abraham in the Book. He was truthful and a prophet.

42. He said to his father, "Dear father, why do you worship something that can't hear, can't see, and can't help you at all?

43. Dear father, I've learned things you haven't learned. Follow me, and I'll show you the right path.

44. Dear father, don't worship Satan. Satan always disobeys the Most Kind Allah.

45. Dear father, I'm worried that punishment from the Most Kind Allah might touch you, and you'll become a friend of Satan."

46. His father said, "Abraham, are you turning away from my gods? If you don't stop, I'll throw stones at you. Leave me alone for a long time."

47. Abraham said, "Peace be with you. I'll ask my Lord to forgive you. He's always kind to me.

48. I'll leave you and the things you pray to instead of Allah. I'll pray only to my Lord. I hope my prayers to my Lord won't make me unhappy."

49. When Abraham left them and the things they worshiped instead of Allah, We gave him Isaac and Jacob, and We made each of them a prophet.

50. We gave them Our kindness, and We made people remember them with great respect.

51. And mention Moses in the Book. He was sincere, and he was a messenger and a prophet.

52. We called him from the right side of the mountain, and We brought him close to speak with him.

53. And because of Our kindness, We gave him his brother Aaron as a prophet.

54. And mention Ishmael in the Book. He always kept his promises, and he was a messenger and a prophet.

55. He told his family to pray and give charity, and his Lord was pleased with him.

56. And mention Idris in the Book. He was truthful and a prophet.

57. We raised him to a high place.

58. These are the prophets Allah blessed — from Adam's family, from those We carried with Noah, from Abraham and Israel's families, and from those We guided and chose. When the verses of the Most Kind Allah were read to them, they bowed down, crying.

59. But after them came people who stopped praying and followed their own wishes. They'll soon face trouble.

60. Except those who turn back to Allah, believe, and do good things. They'll enter Paradise, and no one will treat them unfairly.

61. They'll live in beautiful gardens forever, which the Most Kind Allah promised His servants, even though they haven't seen them yet. His promise will surely come true.

62. There, they won't hear any bad words — only peaceful greetings. They'll have their food there every morning and evening.

63. That's the Paradise We give to those servants who are careful to obey Allah.

64. "We angels only come down by your Lord's command. Everything in front of us, behind us, and in between belongs to Him. Your Lord never forgets."

65. He's the Lord of the heavens, the earth, and everything between them. So worship Him, and be patient in worshiping Him. Do you know anyone else like Him?

66. A human being says, "After I die, will I really come back to life?"

67. Doesn't the human remember that We created him before, when he was nothing at all?

68. By your Lord, We will surely gather them and the devils together. Then We will bring them around Hellfire, down on their knees.

69. Then, from every group, We will pull out those who were most stubborn against the Most Merciful.

70. And We know best who most deserve to burn in it.

71. Every one of you will pass by it. This is a promise from your Lord that will surely happen.

72. Then We will save those who were careful to obey Allah, and leave the wrongdoers there, down on their knees.

73. When Our clear verses are read to them, the disbelievers say to the believers, "Which group is better off and has nicer places to meet?"

74. But how many groups before them have We destroyed, who had nicer furniture and looked better?

75. Say, "Whoever is lost, the Most Merciful will let them stay lost for a while. Then, when they see what they were promised — either punishment or the Day of Judgment — they will know who is in a worse place and who has weaker helpers."

76. Allah gives even more guidance to those who follow the right way. And good deeds that last are better with your Lord as a reward, and better to hope for.

77. Have you seen the one who disbelieves in Our verses, and says, "I will surely be given lots of money and children"?

78. Has he seen the future, or has he made a promise with the Most Merciful?

79. No! We will write down what he says, and We will make his punishment last longer.

80. We will take away everything he talks about, and he will come to Us all alone.

81. They have chosen other gods besides Allah, hoping those gods will give them strength.

82. No! Those gods will reject their worship and become their enemies instead.

83. Don't you see that We send devils against the disbelievers, pushing them to do wrong?

84. So don't hurry against them. We're carefully counting their days.

85. On the Day when We gather those who were careful to obey Allah, they will come to the Most Merciful as special guests.

86. And We will drive the wrongdoers to Hellfire, very thirsty.

87. No one will be able to speak up for others, except those who have a promise from the Most Merciful.

88. And they say, "The Most Merciful has a child."

89. You have said something terrible!

90. The skies almost break apart because of it, the earth almost splits open, and the mountains almost crumble down.

91. Because they say the Most Merciful has a child.

92. But it's not right for the Most Merciful to have a child.

93. Everyone in the skies and on earth will come to the Most Merciful as a servant.

94. He has counted every single one of them carefully.

95. And each one will come to Him alone on the Day of Judgment.

96. Those who believe and do good deeds, the Most Merciful will give them love.

97. We made this Quran easy in your language, so you can give good news to those who are careful to obey Allah, and warn those who argue and don't listen.

98. How many groups before them have We destroyed? Can you feel even one of them now, or hear even a whisper from them?
