In the name of Allah, the Most Kind, the Most Caring.
1. Glory to Allah, Who took His servant on a journey at night, from the Sacred Mosque to the Farthest Mosque — We have blessed the area around it — to show him some of Our amazing signs. He hears and sees everything.
2. We gave Moses the Book, and made it a guide for the Children of Israel, saying, "Don't take anyone besides Me as your protector."
3. They were the descendants of those We carried with Noah. He was a thankful servant.
4. We told the Children of Israel clearly in the Book, "You will cause trouble on earth two times, and you will become very proud."
5. When the first promise came true, We sent strong servants of Ours against you. They went everywhere through your homes. This promise had to happen.
6. Then We gave you victory over them again. We helped you with money and children, and made you a bigger group.
7. If you do good, you do good for yourselves. If you do bad, you hurt yourselves. When the second promise comes, they will make your faces sad, enter the mosque again as they did the first time, and completely destroy everything they take over.
8. Maybe your Lord will have mercy on you. But if you do wrong again, We will punish you again. We have made Hellfire a prison for those who don't believe.
9. This Quran guides people to the best way, and gives good news to believers who do good things, that they will have a big reward.
10. And for those who don't believe in the Hereafter, We have prepared a painful punishment.
11. People sometimes pray for bad things, just like they pray for good things. People are always in a hurry.
12. We made the night and the day two signs. We made the night dark, and the day bright, so you can look for blessings from your Lord, and know how to count the years and keep track of time. We explained everything clearly.
13. Every human being has their deeds tied around their neck. On the Day of Judgment, We will bring out a book for each person, wide open for them to see.
14. "Read your book. Today, you are enough to judge yourself."
15. Whoever follows the right way, does it for their own good. Whoever goes the wrong way, hurts only themselves. No one will carry another person's mistakes. And We never punish anyone until We send a messenger first.
16. When We decide to destroy a town, We command its rich people to obey, but they disobey instead. Then the punishment becomes certain, and We completely destroy it.
17. How many towns have We destroyed after Noah! Your Lord knows and sees all the mistakes of His servants.
18. Whoever wants only the quick joys of this world, We quickly give what We choose to whoever We want. Then, later, We send them to Hellfire, where they'll enter, blamed and pushed away.
19. But whoever wants the Hereafter, and tries their best for it, while having faith in Allah, their efforts will be thanked and rewarded.
20. We give gifts from your Lord to everyone — to both these and those. Your Lord's gifts are never held back.
21. Look how We made some people better than others. But in the Hereafter, people will have much higher ranks and much more favor.
22. Don't worship any other god besides Allah, or you'll end up blamed and abandoned.
23. Your Lord has commanded that you worship only Him, and that you're kind and caring to your parents. If one or both of them grow old while they're with you, don't even say "ugh!" to them, and don't be rude to them. Instead, speak to them kindly and gently.
24. Be humble and kind toward your parents, and pray, "My Lord, please be kind to them, just like they took care of me when I was little."
25. Your Lord knows exactly what's in your hearts. If you're good, He always forgives those who turn back to Him.
26. Give your relatives their rights, and help the poor and travelers in need. But don't waste things by spending too much.
27. People who waste too much are brothers of the devils, and the devil is always ungrateful to his Lord.
28. If you have to turn away from helping someone because you're waiting for kindness from your Lord, then at least speak to them in a gentle and friendly way.
29. Don't keep your hand tied tightly to your neck, and don't stretch it out too far either — otherwise, you'll end up blamed and regretful.
30. Your Lord gives plenty to whoever He wants, and He gives less to whoever He wants. He knows and sees everything about His servants.
31. Don't kill your children because you're afraid of being poor. We give them what they need, and We give you what you need too. Killing them is a very terrible mistake.
32. Don't even go near doing wrong things with someone you're not married to. It's a terrible thing to do, and it's a very bad path.
33. Don't kill anyone, because Allah has made life special and protected, except when it's fair and right. If someone is killed unfairly, We give their family the right to seek justice — but they shouldn't go too far in punishing, because they'll be helped and supported.
34. Don't go near the money of an orphan, except to use it in the best way, until the orphan grows up. And always keep your promises, because you'll be asked about every promise you make.
35. When you measure things, measure them fairly. And when you weigh things, weigh them honestly. That is better and leads to the best outcome.
36. Don't follow anything you don't know about. Your ears, your eyes, and your heart — you'll be asked about all of them.
37. Don't walk proudly on the earth. You can't break through the ground, and you can't grow as tall as the mountains.
38. All these bad things are disliked by your Lord.
39. These are some of the wise lessons your Lord has revealed to you. Don't worship any other god along with Allah, or you'll be thrown into Hellfire, blamed and rejected.
40. Has your Lord chosen sons for you, but taken daughters from the angels for Himself? You're saying something very wrong.
41. We've explained things in many ways in this Quran, so people can remember. But it only makes them turn away even more.
42. Say, "If there were other gods with Him, as they say, then those gods would surely try to find a way to the Lord of the Throne."
43. He is far above and greater than what they say about Him.
44. The seven heavens, the earth, and everyone in them praise Him. There's nothing that doesn't praise Him and thank Him, but you don't understand their praise. He is patient and forgiving.
45. When you read the Quran, We put an invisible curtain between you and those who don't believe in the Hereafter.
46. And We put covers over their hearts, so they can't understand it, and heaviness in their ears. When you mention your Lord alone in the Quran, they turn their backs and run away.
47. We know best what they're listening for when they listen to you, and when they whisper secretly. The wrongdoers say, "You're only following a man who's under a magic spell."
48. Look how they make up examples about you. They've lost their way and can't find the right path.
49. They say, "When we're just bones and dust, will we really be brought back as a new creation?"
50. Say, "Even if you become stones or iron.
51. Or anything else you think is even harder to bring back to life." Then they'll ask, "Who will bring us back?" Say, "The One Who created you the first time." Then they'll shake their heads at you and say, "When will that happen?" Say, "Maybe it will be soon."
52. On the Day He calls you, you'll answer by praising Him, and you'll think you've stayed only a short while.
53. Tell My servants to say kind and gentle words. Satan tries to make trouble between them. Satan is clearly an enemy to humans.
54. Your Lord knows you best. If He wants, He can be kind to you, or if He wants, He can punish you. We didn't send you to be responsible for them.
55. Your Lord knows everyone in the heavens and the earth. We made some prophets more important than others, and We gave David the Psalms.
56. Say, "Call those you say can help you besides Allah. They can't take away your troubles or even change them."
57. Those they call on are themselves trying to get closer to their Lord. They hope for His kindness and are afraid of His punishment. Your Lord's punishment is something to watch out for.
58. Every town will be destroyed or strongly punished by Us before the Day of Judgment. This is already written down in the Book.
59. Nothing stopped Us from sending miracles except that people before didn't believe them. We gave the people of Thamud the camel as a clear miracle, but they treated her badly. We send miracles only as warnings.
60. Remember when We told you, "Your Lord surrounds all people." We made the vision We showed you and the cursed tree mentioned in the Quran only as a test for people. We warn them, but it only makes them behave even worse.
61. Remember when We said to the angels, "Bow down to Adam." They all bowed down except Iblis. He said, "Should I bow down to someone You made from clay?"
62. He said, "Look at this one You honored above me! If You let me live until the Day of Judgment, I'll surely lead most of his descendants away from You."
63. Allah said, "Go away! Whoever follows you, Hellfire will be your complete punishment."
64. "Try to trick whoever you can with your voice. Attack them with your soldiers on horses and on foot. Share their money and children, and make promises to them." But Satan only promises lies.
65. "You have no power over My servants." Your Lord is enough to protect them.
66. Your Lord makes ships sail smoothly on the sea for you, so you can look for His gifts. He is very kind to you.
67. When trouble comes to you at sea, everyone you call on disappears except Him. But when He saves you and brings you safely to land, you turn away. Humans are often ungrateful.
68. Do you feel safe that He won't make the land sink beneath you or send a storm of stones on you? Then you wouldn't find anyone to protect you.
69. Or do you feel safe that He won't send you back to sea again, then send a strong wind to drown you because you didn't believe? Then you wouldn't find anyone to help you against Us.
70. We honored the children of Adam. We carry them on land and sea, give them good things to eat, and made them better than many others We created.
71. On the Day when We call all people with their leader, whoever gets their book in their right hand will happily read their book, and they won't be treated unfairly at all.
72. But whoever was blind in this life will also be blind in the Hereafter — and even more lost.
73. They almost tricked you into changing what We revealed to you, so you'd make up something different about Us. Then they would have made you their close friend.
74. If We hadn't made you strong, you might have leaned toward them just a little bit.
75. Then We would have made you taste double punishment in life, and double punishment after death, and you wouldn't find anyone to help you against Us.
76. They almost scared you away from the land, trying to make you leave. But if they did, they wouldn't stay there much longer after you.
77. This is how We always treated the messengers We sent before you, and you'll never find Our way changing.
78. Pray from when the sun starts going down until the darkness of night, and recite the Quran at dawn. The Quran at dawn is very special and watched by angels.
79. And during the night, wake up and pray extra prayers. Maybe your Lord will raise you to a very special and praised place.
80. And say, "My Lord, let me enter in a truthful way, and let me leave in a truthful way, and give me strong help and support from You."
81. And say, "The truth has come, and falsehood has disappeared. Falsehood always disappears."
82. We send down from the Quran what heals and gives mercy to believers, but it only makes those who do wrong lose even more.
83. When We give human beings good things, they turn away and act proud. But when something bad happens to them, they lose all hope.
84. Say, "Everyone acts according to their own way, and your Lord knows best who is following the right path."
85. They ask you about the soul. Say, "The soul is from the command of my Lord, and you have only been given a little bit of knowledge."
86. If We wanted, We could take away what We revealed to you. Then you wouldn't find anyone to protect you from Us.
87. But it's a kindness from your Lord. His favor on you is great.
88. Say, "Even if all people and jinn came together to make something like this Quran, they could never make anything like it — even if they helped each other."
89. We've explained every kind of example in this Quran for people, but most people still refuse to believe.
90. They said, "We won't believe you until you make a spring of water burst from the ground for us."
91. "Or until you have a garden with palm trees and grapes, and you make rivers flow through it."
92. "Or until you make pieces of the sky fall down on us, as you said will happen, or bring Allah and the angels right in front of us."
93. "Or until you have a house made of gold, or you go up into the sky. And even then, we won't believe you went up unless you bring down a book for us to read ourselves." Say, "Glory to my Lord! I'm only a human messenger."
94. Nothing stopped people from believing when guidance came to them, except that they said, "Did Allah send a human as a messenger?"
95. Say, "If angels lived on earth, walking around peacefully, We would have sent down an angel from the sky as a messenger."
96. Say, "Allah is enough as a witness between me and you. He knows and sees His servants very well."
97. Whoever Allah guides is truly guided. But whoever He leaves lost, you'll never find anyone else to help them. On the Day of Judgment, We'll gather them on their faces—blind, unable to speak, and deaf. Their home will be Hellfire. Every time its flames get weaker, We'll make them stronger again.
98. That's their punishment, because they didn't believe Our signs, and they said, "When we're just bones and dust, will we really be created again as new people?"
99. Don't they see that Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth, can create people like them again? He has set a time for them that will surely come. But those who do wrong refuse to believe.
100. Say, "If you had control of the treasures of my Lord's kindness, you'd hold them back, afraid of spending them. Humans have always been stingy."
101. We gave Moses nine clear miracles. Ask the Children of Israel about when Moses came to them. Pharaoh said to him, "Moses, I think you're under a magic spell!"
102. Moses replied, "You know that no one sent these miracles except the Lord of the heavens and the earth, as clear proofs. Pharaoh, I think you're truly doomed!"
103. Pharaoh wanted to chase them out of the land, but We drowned him and everyone with him.
104. After him, We said to the Children of Israel, "Live in the land. When the promise of the Hereafter comes, We'll bring you all together."
105. We sent down the Quran with truth, and it came down with truth. We sent you only to give good news and to warn.
106. We sent down the Quran little by little, so you can read it slowly and clearly to people. And We revealed it step by step.
107. Say, "Believe in it or don't believe." Those who were given knowledge before, when they hear it, bow down with their faces to the ground.
108. They say, "Glory to our Lord! Our Lord's promise will surely come true!"
109. They bow down with their faces to the ground, crying, and it makes them even more humble.
110. Say, "Call Him 'Allah' or call Him 'the Most Merciful.' Whichever name you use, all the most beautiful names belong to Him." Don't say your prayers too loudly or too quietly, but find a way in between.
111. And say, "All praise belongs to Allah, Who has no child, and no partner ruling with Him, and has no protector out of weakness." And praise His greatness greatly!
