In the name of Allah, the Most Kind, the Most Caring.
1. Allah's command has come, so don't rush it. He is perfect and high above anything they worship besides Him.
2. He sends down angels with His message to any of His servants He chooses, saying, "Warn everyone that there is no god except Me, so respect Me."
3. He created the heavens and the earth with truth. He is far above anything they worship besides Him.
4. He created the human being from a tiny drop, but suddenly the human becomes a clear arguer.
5. And He created farm animals for you. They give you warmth and many useful things, and you eat from them too.
6. They also look beautiful to you, when you bring them home in the evening, and when you take them out in the morning.
7. They carry your heavy loads to faraway places that you couldn't reach without great effort. Your Lord is kind and caring.
8. And He created horses, mules, and donkeys for you to ride and to look nice. And He creates other things you don't know about.
9. Allah shows the right path, but some paths go the wrong way. If He wanted, He could have guided all of you.
10. He is the One Who sends down water from the sky. You drink from it, and it makes plants grow where your animals eat.
11. With it, He grows crops for you, and olives, palm trees, grapevines, and all kinds of fruits. In this, there is a clear sign for people who think carefully.
12. He made the night and day, the sun and moon, all helpful to you. And the stars follow His command. In this, there are clear signs for people who understand.
13. And He created many different things for you on the earth, with all kinds of colors. In this, there is a clear sign for people who remember.
14. He is the One Who made the sea helpful to you, so you can eat fresh fish from it, and get beautiful jewelry to wear. You see ships sailing through it, so you can look for His gifts, and be thankful.
15. He placed strong mountains on the earth, so it doesn't shake with you, and rivers and paths, so you can find your way.
16. And He made clear landmarks, and people find their way by the stars.
17. Is the One Who creates the same as someone who can't create anything? Won't you remember?
18. If you tried to count all of Allah's blessings, you could never count them all. Allah is Forgiving and Kind.
19. Allah knows everything you hide and everything you show.
20. Those they pray to instead of Allah can't create anything — they themselves were created.
21. They're dead, not alive, and they don't even know when they'll be brought back to life.
22. Your God is one God. But those who don't believe in the Hereafter have hearts that refuse to believe, and they are proud.
23. Allah knows everything they hide, and everything they show. He doesn't love proud people.
24. When they're asked, "What did your Lord send down?" they say, "Just old stories from long ago."
25. On the Day of Judgment, they'll carry all their own wrong deeds, and also some bad deeds of those they led astray without knowing. How terrible is what they'll carry!
26. People before them made tricky plans too. But Allah made the foundations of their buildings collapse, and the roofs fell on top of them. Punishment came to them from where they didn't expect.
27. Then, on the Day of Judgment, He'll shame them, and say, "Where are those partners you argued about?" Those who were given knowledge will say, "Today, shame and trouble are on those who didn't believe."
28. The angels will take away the souls of those who were unfair to themselves. They'll try to surrender, saying, "We weren't doing anything bad!" But yes, Allah knows exactly what you used to do.
29. So enter through the gates of Hellfire, where you'll stay forever. What a terrible home for proud people!
30. But when those who are careful to obey Allah are asked, "What did your Lord send down?" they say, "Goodness!" Those who do good in this world will have something good, and the home in the Hereafter is even better. What a wonderful home for those who are careful to obey Allah!
31. They'll enter beautiful gardens, with rivers flowing beneath them. They'll have whatever they wish for there. That's how Allah rewards those who are careful to obey Him.
32. The angels will gently take the souls of good people, saying, "Peace be with you! Enter Paradise, because of the good things you used to do."
33. Are they waiting for the angels to come to them, or for your Lord's command to arrive? People before them did the same thing. Allah wasn't unfair to them — they were unfair to themselves.
34. So the bad things they did came back to them, and what they used to laugh at surrounded them completely.
35. Those who worshiped others besides Allah said, "If Allah wanted, we wouldn't worship anything besides Him — neither us nor our fathers — and we wouldn't forbid anything without His permission." People before them said the same thing. But the messengers' job is only to clearly deliver Allah's message.
36. We sent a messenger to every group of people, saying, "Worship Allah, and stay away from false gods." Some people Allah guided, and some were left to go astray. So travel around the earth, and see what happened to those who didn't believe.
37. Even if you really want them to be guided, Allah doesn't guide those He lets go astray. And they won't have anyone to help them.
38. They promised strongly by Allah, "Allah won't bring back to life anyone who dies." But He will! It's a true promise from Him, but most people don't know.
39. He will bring them back to life, to clearly show them what they argued about, and so those who didn't believe will know they were lying.
40. When We want something to happen, We just say to it, "Be!" and it happens.
41. Those who left their homes for Allah's sake, after being treated unfairly, We will surely give them a good home in this world. But the reward in the Hereafter is even greater, if only they knew.
42. They are the ones who stayed patient and trusted their Lord.
43. We only sent men before you, who received messages from Us. So ask the people who know, if you don't know.
44. We sent them with clear proofs and holy writings. And We sent down the message to you, so you can clearly explain to people what was given to them, and so they can think carefully.
45. Do those who planned bad things feel safe? Allah could make the earth swallow them up, or punishment could come to them suddenly, from where they don't expect.
46. Or He could punish them while they're busy doing things, and they can't escape.
47. Or He could punish them gradually, while they're afraid. But your Lord is truly gentle and kind.
48. Haven't they seen that everything Allah created has shadows — moving gently from right to left, bowing down humbly to Allah?
49. Everything in the heavens, and every creature on earth, bows down to Allah, and so do the angels. And they're never too proud.
50. They fear their Lord above them, and they do exactly what they're told.
51. Allah said, "Don't worship two gods. There is only one God, so fear only Me."
52. Everything in the heavens and the earth belongs to Him, and obedience is always due to Him. So will you be mindful of anyone other than Allah?
53. Every good thing you have comes from Allah. Then, when trouble touches you, you cry out to Him for help.
54. But when He takes away your trouble, some of you start worshiping others along with your Lord.
55. They do this so they can be ungrateful for what We gave them. So enjoy yourselves for now — you'll soon find out.
56. They give part of what We provided them to things they don't even know. By Allah, you'll surely be asked about the lies you made up.
57. They give daughters to Allah — glory to Him! — but they choose for themselves what they like.
58. When one of them is told he has a baby girl, his face turns dark with sadness, and he feels upset inside.
59. He hides from people because of the news he got. He wonders, "Should I keep her even though I feel ashamed, or bury her in the ground?" How terrible is the way they judge!
60. Those who don't believe in the Hereafter have the worst examples, but Allah has the best examples. He is the Mighty, the Wise.
61. If Allah punished people right away for the wrong things they do, He wouldn't leave a single living creature on earth. But He gives them time until a certain day. Then, when their time comes, they can't delay it even for a moment, and they can't make it come sooner.
62. They give to Allah things they don't like for themselves, and their tongues tell lies, saying they'll have good things. There's no doubt they'll have the Fire, and they'll be abandoned.
63. By Allah, We sent messengers to people before you, but Satan made their bad actions look good to them. So today he's their friend, and they'll have a painful punishment.
64. We sent down the Book to you only to make clear to them the things they argued about, and as guidance and kindness for people who believe.
65. Allah sends down water from the sky, bringing the earth back to life after it was dead. In this is a clear sign for people who listen.
66. And there's a lesson for you in farm animals. From inside their bodies, between their waste and their blood, We give you pure milk that's easy and good to drink.
67. And from the fruits of palm trees and grapes, you make sweet drinks and good food. This is a clear sign for people who think carefully.
68. And your Lord inspired the bees, saying, "Make your homes in the mountains, in the trees, and in what people build.
69. Then eat from all kinds of fruits, and follow the easy paths your Lord made for you." From inside the bees comes a drink of different colors, and it has healing for people. This is a clear sign for people who think deeply.
70. Allah created you, then He makes you die. Some of you grow very old, until you forget everything you once knew. Allah knows everything and has power over everything.
71. Allah gives more to some people than to others. But the people who have more don't share everything with those who help them, so everyone would be the same. So why aren't they thankful for Allah's blessings?
72. Allah gave you partners from among yourselves, and from your partners He gave you children and grandchildren. He gave you good things to eat. Do they believe in false things, and are ungrateful for Allah's blessings?
73. They worship things other than Allah — things that can't give them anything from the skies or the earth, and have no power at all.
74. So don't make up examples about Allah. Allah knows, and you don't know.
75. Allah gives an example: a slave who can't do anything, and another person whom We gave plenty of good things, and he spends from it secretly and openly. Are they equal? All praise belongs to Allah, but most of them don't know.
76. And Allah gives another example: two men — one is mute and can't do anything, and he is a burden on his master. Wherever his master sends him, he doesn't bring anything good. Is he equal to the one who tells people to be fair and follows the right path?
77. Allah knows all the hidden things in the skies and the earth. And the Day of Judgment will come as quickly as the blink of an eye — or even faster. Allah has power over everything.
78. Allah brought you out from your mothers' bellies when you didn't know anything. He gave you hearing, sight, and hearts, so you might be thankful.
79. Don't they see the birds flying in the sky? Nothing holds them up except Allah. These are signs for people who believe.
80. Allah gave you homes to rest in. He also gave you tents made from animal skins, easy to carry when you travel and when you stay. And from animals' wool, fur, and hair, He gave you things to use and enjoy for a while.
81. Allah made shade for you from what He created. He made shelters for you in the mountains. He gave you clothes to protect you from heat, and clothes to protect you when you fight. This is how He completes His blessings for you, so you might submit to Him.
82. But if they turn away, your only job is to clearly deliver the message.
83. They recognize Allah's blessings, but then they deny them. Most of them are ungrateful.
84. On the Day when We bring a witness from every group of people, those who disbelieved won't be allowed to speak, and they won't be able to make any excuses.
85. When those who did wrong see the punishment, it won't be made easier for them, and they won't get another chance.
86. When those who worshiped others besides Allah see their partners, they'll say, "Our Lord, these are the ones we prayed to instead of You!" But those partners will respond to them, "You're lying!"
87. On that Day, they'll surrender completely to Allah, and the things they made up will disappear from them.
88. Those who disbelieved and stopped others from following Allah's path will get punishment on top of punishment, because they kept doing bad things.
89. On the Day when We bring a witness from every group of people, chosen from among themselves, We will bring you as a witness for these people. We sent down the Book to you to clearly explain everything, and as guidance, kindness, and good news for those who submit to Allah.
90. Allah commands you to be fair, to do good, and to help your relatives. He forbids you from doing bad things, wrong actions, and acting unfairly. He teaches you, so you can remember.
91. Keep your promises to Allah when you make them, and don't break your promises after you've confirmed them. You've made Allah your witness, and Allah knows everything you do.
92. Don't be like the woman who made her thread strong, then broke it into pieces. Don't use your promises to trick each other, just because one group is bigger than another. Allah tests you with this, and on the Day of Judgment, He will clearly show you the truth about what you argued over.
93. If Allah wanted, He could have made you all one group. But He lets some people lose their way, and He guides others. And you'll surely be asked about what you used to do.
94. Don't use your promises to trick each other, or your feet might slip after standing firm. Then you'll taste trouble, because you stopped others from following Allah's path, and you'll have a big punishment.
95. Don't trade your promises to Allah for something small. What Allah has for you is much better, if you only knew.
96. Whatever you have will run out, but what Allah has lasts forever. And We will surely reward those who were patient with the best reward for the good things they did.
97. Whoever does good deeds, whether a male or a female, and believes in Allah, We will give them a happy life. And We will reward them with the best reward for the good things they've done.
98. When you read the Quran, ask Allah to protect you from Satan, who is rejected.
99. Satan has no power over those who believe and trust their Lord.
100. He only has power over those who follow him and those who join others with Allah.
101. When We change one verse for another — and Allah knows best what He sends down — they say, "You're just making things up." But most of them don't understand.
102. Say, "The Holy Spirit brought it down from your Lord with truth, to make the believers strong, and as guidance and good news for those who submit to Allah."
103. We know they say, "A human being is teaching him." But the language of the person they point to isn't Arabic, but this is clear Arabic.
104. Those who don't believe in Allah's verses, Allah won't guide them, and they'll have a painful punishment.
105. Only those who don't believe in Allah's verses make up lies. They're the ones who lie.
106. If someone stops believing in Allah after believing — except for someone who is forced, while their heart is still full of faith — then Allah will not blame them. But anyone who chooses not to believe in their heart, Allah will be angry with them and give them a terrible punishment.
107. That's because they liked this life more than the Hereafter, and Allah doesn't guide people who disbelieve.
108. Those are the people whose hearts, ears, and eyes Allah has sealed shut, and they're the ones who don't pay attention.
109. There's no doubt they'll be the losers in the Hereafter.
110. Then your Lord will forgive and be kind to those who had to leave their homes after being treated badly, who tried their best for Allah, and who were patient.
111. On the Day when every person will argue for themselves, each one will get exactly what they earned, and no one will be treated unfairly.
112. Allah gives an example of a town that was safe and peaceful. Plenty of food came to it from everywhere. But its people didn't thank Allah for His blessings, so Allah made them hungry and afraid because of what they did.
113. A messenger from among them came to them, but they called him a liar. So punishment came to them, because they were unfair.
114. So eat from the good and allowed things Allah has given you, and thank Allah for His blessings, if you worship Him.
115. He has only forbidden you to eat animals that died by themselves, blood, pork, and animals offered to anyone other than Allah. But if someone is forced to eat these things, without wanting to break the rules or go beyond the limits, then Allah is forgiving and kind.
116. Don't say lies with your tongues, saying, "This is allowed," and "This is forbidden," making up lies about Allah. Those who make up lies about Allah won't succeed.
117. They'll have only a little enjoyment, and then they will have a painful punishment.
118. For those who followed the Jewish faith, We made certain foods forbidden, as We told you before. We didn't treat them unfairly — they treated themselves unfairly.
119. Then your Lord forgives and is kind to those who did wrong things without knowing better, then turned back to Allah and tried to do good. After that, your Lord is forgiving and caring.
120. Abraham was a leader and a model. He was always obedient to Allah, believed only in Him, and never worshiped anything else.
121. He was thankful for all the good things Allah gave him. Allah chose him and guided him to the straight path.
122. We gave him good things in this life, and in the Hereafter, he will be among the righteous.
123. Then We told you: "Follow Abraham's way, believing only in Allah." He didn't worship anything else.
124. The Sabbath day was made special only for those who argued about it. Your Lord will judge between them on the Day of Judgment about what they disagreed on.
125. Invite people to your Lord's way with wisdom and kind advice, and talk with them in the nicest way. Your Lord knows best who has lost His way, and He knows best who is guided.
126. If you punish someone, punish them only as much as you were hurt. But if you're patient, that's better for those who stay patient.
127. Be patient, and your patience comes only from Allah. Don't feel sad about them, and don't worry about the tricks they plan.
128. Allah is with those who are careful to obey Him and those who do good things.
