In the name of Allah, the Most Kind, the Most Caring.

1. Alif. Lam. Ra. These are the verses of the Book and a clear Quran.

2. Sometimes, those who disbelieve will wish they had been Muslims.

3. Let them eat, enjoy themselves, and be distracted by their hopes. Soon they'll know.

4. We never destroyed a town without it having a set time.

5. No group can make their time come sooner, and no group can make it come later.

6. They say, "You, the one who received the message — you're crazy!"

7. "Why don't you bring angels to us, if you're telling the truth?"

8. We only send angels for a good reason, and then they won't get more time.

9. We sent down the message, and We will keep it safe.

10. We sent messengers before you to people long ago.

11. But whenever a messenger came to them, they laughed at him.

12. That's how We put disbelief into the hearts of those who do wrong.

13. They don't believe in it, even though this happened before with people long ago.

14. Even if We opened a door in the sky for them, and they kept climbing up through it.

15. They would say, "Our eyes aren't working right — we must be under a magic spell!"

16. We placed great constellations in the sky, and decorated it for those who look.

17. And We protected it from every evil devil.

18. If any devil tries to secretly listen, a bright shooting star chases him away.

19. We spread out the earth, placed strong mountains on it, and made all kinds of plants grow there in perfect balance.

20. We made the earth a home for you, and for creatures you do not provide for.

21. Everything has its treasures with Us, and We send them down only in the right amount.

22. We send winds that help plants grow, then We send down rain from the sky for you to drink. You couldn't store it yourselves.

23. We give life, and We cause death, and everything returns to Us.

24. We know who lived before you, and We know who will come later.

25. Your Lord will gather them all together. He is wise and knows everything.

26. We created human beings from clay made from sticky mud.

27. And We created the jinn before that, from a very hot fire.

28. Remember when your Lord said to the angels, "I'm going to create a human being from clay, made from sticky mud.

29. When I shape him and breathe My spirit into him, bow down to him."

30. So all the angels bowed down together.

31. Except Iblis — he refused to bow down with the others.

32. Allah said, "Iblis, why didn't you bow down with the others?"

33. Iblis said, "I won't bow down to a human You created from clay, made from sticky mud."

34. Allah said, "Then get out of here, because you're rejected.

35. And you'll have My curse until the Day of Judgment."

36. Iblis said, "My Lord, please let me stay until the day people are brought back to life."

37. Allah said, "You are allowed to stay."

38. "Until the known day."

39. Iblis said, "My Lord, because You let me go the wrong way, I'll make bad things look good to them on earth, and I'll lead them all the wrong way.

40. Except Your chosen servants."

41. Allah said, "This is My straight path.

42. You won't have any power over My servants, except those who choose to follow you and go the wrong way.

43. And Hellfire is the place promised for all of them.

44. It has seven gates, and each gate has its own assigned group."

45. Those who are careful to obey Allah will be in gardens and springs.

46. They'll be told, "Enter it peacefully and safely."

47. We'll take away any bad feelings from their hearts, and they'll be like brothers and sisters, sitting happily face-to-face, on soft couches.

48. They won't feel tired there, and they'll never have to leave.

49. Tell My servants that I am the Most Forgiving, the Most Kind.

50. And that My punishment is truly painful.

51. Tell them about Abraham's guests.

52. When they came to him, they said, "Peace!" He said, "We're a bit scared of you."

53. They said, "Don't be scared! We bring you good news of a smart boy."

54. Abraham said, "Are you giving me good news even though I'm very old? What kind of good news is this?"

55. They said, "We're giving you true good news, so don't lose hope."

56. Abraham said, "Who loses hope in Allah's kindness except those who are lost?"

57. Then he asked, "Messengers, what's your mission?"

58. They said, "We were sent to people who do bad things."

59. "But we'll save Lot's family — all of them."

60. "Except his wife. We decided she'll stay behind."

61. When the messengers came to Lot's family.

62. Lot said, "You're strangers to me."

63. They said, "We've come with what those people doubted."

64. "We brought you the truth, and we're telling the truth."

65. "So leave with your family late at night. Follow behind them, and don't let anyone look back. Go where you're told."

66. We told Lot that those people would be destroyed in the morning.

67. Then the people of the city came, happy and excited.

68. Lot said, "These are my guests, so please don't embarrass me."

69. "Respect Allah, and don't shame me."

70. They said, "Didn't we tell you not to welcome guests?"

71. Lot said, "Here are my daughters, if you're going to do something."

72. By your life, they were lost in their confusion.

73. Then a loud blast took them at sunrise.

74. We turned their town upside down and rained stones of baked clay on them.

75. In this are clear signs for those who think carefully.

76. And the city is on a well-known road.

77. In this is a sign for those who believe.

78. The people of the forest were also wrongdoers.

79. So We punished them too. Both towns are on a clear road.

80. The people of the rocky valley denied the messengers.

81. We showed them Our signs, but they turned away.

82. They carved safe homes in the mountains.

83. But a loud blast took them in the morning.

84. All they had didn't help them at all.

85. We created the skies, the earth, and everything between them for a good reason. The Hour is coming, so forgive others kindly.

86. Your Lord is the Great Creator, and He knows everything.

87. We've given you seven often-repeated verses, and the great Quran.

88. Don't wish for what We have given some of them. And don't feel sad about them, and be gentle and kind to the believers.

89. Say, "I'm clearly here to warn you."

90. Just as We sent down to those who divided.

91. Who divided the Quran into parts.

92. By your Lord, We will ask them all.

93. About what they used to do.

94. So say openly what you're told, and turn away from those who worship others besides Allah.

95. We'll protect you from those who make fun of you.

96. Those who worship another god with Allah. Soon they will know.

97. We know that your heart feels tight because of what they say.

98. So praise your Lord and be among those who bow down.

99. And worship your Lord until certainty comes to you.
