In the name of Allah, the Most Kind, the Most Caring.
1. Alif. Lam. Meem. Ra. These are the verses of the Book. What your Lord gave you is the truth, but most people don't believe.
2. Allah raised the skies high without any pillars you can see. Then He rose above His throne. He made the sun and the moon follow His rules. Each one moves until a set time. He plans everything and clearly shows His signs, so you can be sure you'll meet your Lord.
3. He spread out the earth and placed strong mountains and rivers on it. He made all kinds of fruits grow in pairs. He covers the day with the night. In all this, there are signs for people who think carefully.
4. On the earth, there are different lands next to each other. There are gardens of grapes, fields of crops, and palm trees — some growing together and some apart. They all drink the same water, but We make some fruits taste better than others. In all this, there are signs for people who understand.
5. If you're amazed, what's really amazing is when they say, "After we become dust, will we really be created again?" These are the ones who don't believe in their Lord. They'll have chains around their necks. They're the people of the Fire, and they'll stay there forever.
6. They hurry you to bring something bad instead of something good, even though people before them were punished. Your Lord forgives people when they do wrong, but your Lord also punishes strongly.
7. Those who don't believe say, "Why hasn't a miracle come down to him from his Lord?" You're only a warner, and every group of people has someone to guide them.
8. Allah knows what every female carries inside her. He knows when babies come early or late. Everything with Him has a set measure.
9. He knows everything hidden and everything seen. He is the Greatest, the Highest.
10. It doesn't matter if you speak secretly or loudly, or if you hide in the night or walk openly in the day — Allah knows it all.
11. Each person has angels in front and behind, protecting them by Allah's command. Allah doesn't change how people are until they change what's inside themselves. When Allah decides something bad for people, no one can stop it, and they have no protector besides Him.
12. He shows you lightning, making you feel afraid and hopeful, and He creates heavy clouds full of rain.
13. Thunder praises Allah, and the angels praise Him too, because they're afraid of Him. He sends lightning bolts, and strikes with them whoever He wants. Still, they argue about Allah, even though He's very powerful.
14. Calling Him is the true prayer. Those they call besides Him can't answer them at all. It's like someone stretching out his hands toward water, hoping it'll reach his mouth — but it never does. The prayers of those who don't believe are just wasted.
15. Everyone in the heavens and on earth bows down to Allah, willingly or unwillingly — even their shadows in the morning and evening.
16. Say, "Who is the Lord of the heavens and the earth?" Say, "Allah." Say, "Then why do you take protectors besides Him, who can't help or harm even themselves?" Say, "Is a blind person the same as someone who can see? Or is darkness the same as light? Or do they think Allah has partners who created things like He did, so they're confused about who created what?" Say, "Allah is the Creator of everything, and He is the One, the Most Powerful."
17. He sent down rain from the sky, and valleys filled up with flowing water, each according to its size. The rushing water carried foam on top. And when people melt metals in fire to make jewelry or tools, there's foam on top too. This is how Allah shows the difference between truth and falsehood. The foam disappears, but what helps people stays on earth. This is how Allah gives examples.
18. Those who answer their Lord will have the best reward. But those who don't answer Him — if they had everything on earth and even more, they'd give it all away to save themselves. They'll have a terrible judgment, and their home will be Hellfire. What an awful place to rest!
19. Is someone who knows that what your Lord gave you is the truth, the same as someone who's blind? Only people who think carefully will remember.
20. They're the ones who keep their promises to Allah, and they never break their agreements.
21. They connect what Allah said should be connected, respect their Lord, and fear a bad judgment.
22. They're patient, hoping to please their Lord. They pray regularly, give secretly and openly from what We gave them, and push away bad deeds by doing good ones. They'll have the happiest home in the end.
23. Gardens of happiness, which they'll enter along with their good parents, husbands and wives, and children. Angels will come to them from every door, saying.
24. "Peace be with you, because you were patient!" What a wonderful home they'll have!
25. But those who break their promises to Allah after agreeing, cut off what Allah said should be connected, and make trouble on earth — they'll be cursed, and they'll have the worst home.
26. Allah gives plenty to whoever He wants, and He gives less to whoever He wants. Some people are happy with this life, but compared to the Hereafter, this life is just a little enjoyment.
27. The disbelievers say, "Why hasn't a miracle come down to him from his Lord?" Say, "Allah lets whoever He wants go the wrong way, and He guides to Himself whoever turns back to Him."
28. Those who believe feel calm and peaceful when they remember Allah. Surely, remembering Allah makes hearts calm and peaceful.
29. Those who believe and do good things will have happiness and a wonderful place to return to.
30. In the same way, We sent you to a community, just like there were other communities before. You tell them what We revealed to you, but they don't believe in the Most Merciful. Say, "He is my Lord. There is no god except Him. I trust Him, and I turn back to Him."
31. Even if there was a Quran that could move mountains, break the earth apart, or make the dead speak, everything would still happen only by Allah's decision. Haven't those who believe realized that if Allah wanted, He could have guided everyone? But the disbelievers will keep facing trouble because of what they've done, or trouble will come very close to their homes, until Allah's promise comes true. Allah never breaks His promise.
32. Messengers before you were laughed at too. I gave the disbelievers some time, then I punished them. How terrible My punishment was!
33. Is there anyone like Allah, Who watches over every person and sees everything they do? But they still make partners with Allah. Say, "Tell me their names! Are you telling Allah something He doesn't know on earth, or are you just saying empty words?" Their bad plans seem good to the disbelievers, and they are stopped from following the right path. Whoever Allah lets go the wrong way, no one can guide them.
34. They will have punishment in this life, and the punishment in the Hereafter will be even harder. No one can protect them from Allah.
35. The example of Paradise, promised to those who are careful to obey Allah, is a beautiful garden with rivers flowing beneath it. Its fruits and shade never end. That's the wonderful reward for those who obey Allah. But the reward for those who disbelieve is the Fire.
36. Those who received the Book before are happy with what was given to you. But some groups don't accept parts of it. Say, "I've been told to worship Allah, and not to worship anyone else with Him. I call people to Him, and I'll return to Him."
37. And that's why We sent it as rules in Arabic. If you follow their wishes after the knowledge has come to you, you'll have no protector or helper from Allah.
38. We sent messengers before you, and We gave them wives and children. No messenger could bring a miracle without Allah's permission. Allah has written a plan for every time.
39. Allah erases whatever He wants, and He keeps whatever He wants. And with Him is the Master Book.
40. Whether We show you some of what We promised them, or We take you back to Us, your job is only to deliver the message. It's Our job to judge them.
41. Don't they see how We come to the land, making it smaller from its edges? Allah decides, and no one can change His decision. And He's quick to judge.
42. Those before them made secret plans, but all plans belong to Allah. He knows what every person does. Soon, those who disbelieve will know who gets the best home in the end.
43. Those who disbelieve say, "You're not a messenger." Say, "Allah is enough as a witness between me and you, and so is anyone who has knowledge of the Book."
