In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

1. Those who disbelieved among the People of the Book and the idolaters were not to desist until the clear proof came to them.

2. A Messenger from Allah, reciting purified scriptures.

3. In them are upright writings.

4. And those who were given the Book did not become divided except after the clear proof had come to them.

5. And they were not commanded except to worship Allah, devoting religion sincerely to Him, inclining to truth, and to establish prayer and give charity; and that is the upright religion.

6. Certainly, those who disbelieved among the People of the Book and the idolaters will be in the fire of Hell, abiding therein eternally; those are the worst of creatures.

7. Certainly, those who believed and performed righteous deeds — those are the best of creatures.

8. Their reward with their Lord is Gardens of Eden beneath which rivers flow, abiding therein forever; Allah is pleased with them, and they are pleased with Him; that is for whoever fears his Lord.
