In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

1. I swear by the Day of Resurrection.

2. And I swear by the self-reproaching soul.

3. Does the human being think that We will not assemble his bones?

4. Yes indeed; We are capable of restoring even his fingertips.

5. Rather, the human being desires to persist in sin ahead of him.

6. He asks, "When is the Day of Resurrection?"

7. So when the sight is dazzled.

8. And the moon is eclipsed.

9. And the sun and the moon are joined together.

10. On that Day the human being will say, "Where is the escape?"

11. No indeed; there is no refuge.

12. To your Lord, on that Day, is the place of permanence.

13. The human being will be informed on that Day of what he sent forth and what he left behind.

14. Rather, the human being is a witness against himself.

15. Even if he presents his excuses.

16. Do not move your tongue with it to hasten it.

17. Surely upon Us is its collection and its recitation.

18. So when We have recited it, then follow its recitation.

19. Then surely upon Us is its clarification.

20. No indeed; rather, you love the immediate.

21. And you leave behind the Hereafter.

22. Faces on that Day will be radiant.

23. Looking toward their Lord.

24. And faces on that Day will be gloomy.

25. Expecting that a crushing calamity will befall them.

26. No indeed; when it reaches the collarbones.

27. And it is said, "Who will cure?"

28. And he is certain that it is the parting.

29. And leg is entwined with leg.

30. To your Lord, on that Day, is the driving.

31. For he neither believed nor prayed.

32. But he denied and turned away.

33. Then he went to his people, swaggering.

34. Woe to you, and woe!

35. Then again, woe to you, and woe!

36. Does the human being think he will be left aimlessly?

37. Was he not a drop of semen emitted?

38. Then he became a clinging clot; then He created and proportioned.

39. And made from it the two sexes, the male and the female.

40. Is not He capable, then, of giving life to the dead?
