In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
1. All that is in the heavens and the earth glorifies Allah; and He is the Almighty, the Wise.
2. To Him belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth; He gives life and causes death, and He is powerful over all things.
3. He is the First and the Last, the Manifest and the Hidden; and He is, of all things, Knowing.
4. He is the One Who created the heavens and the earth in six days, then established Himself on the Throne. He knows what enters into the earth and what emerges from it, and what descends from the heaven and what ascends therein; and He is with you wherever you are. And Allah is, of what you do, Seeing.
5. To Him belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth; and to Allah are all matters returned.
6. He causes the night to enter into the day, and causes the day to enter into the night; and He is Knowing of what is within the breasts.
7. Believe in Allah and His Messenger, and spend from that of which He has made you trustees; for those among you who believe and spend, for them is a great reward.
8. And what is with you that you do not believe in Allah, while the Messenger calls you to believe in your Lord, and He has already taken your covenant, if you are believers?
9. He is the One Who sends down upon His servant clear verses, to bring you out from darkness into the light; and truly, Allah is to you Kind and Merciful.
10. And what is with you that you do not spend in the way of Allah, while to Allah belongs the inheritance of the heavens and the earth? Not equal among you are those who spent and fought before the victory; those are greater in degree than those who spent and fought afterward. Yet to each, Allah has promised the best; and Allah is, of what you do, Aware.
11. Who is it that will lend Allah a goodly loan, so He will multiply it for him, and for him is a noble reward?
12. On the Day you will see the believing men and believing women, their light proceeding before them — and on their right: "Your glad tidings today are Gardens beneath which rivers flow, abiding therein eternally." That is the great triumph.
13. On the Day the hypocrite men and hypocrite women will say to those who believed, "Wait for us, that we may acquire some of your light." It will be said, "Go back behind you and seek light." Then a wall will be placed between them, having a gate — its interior containing mercy, but its exterior, facing it, punishment.
14. They will call out to them, "Were we not with you?" They will say, "Yes, but you afflicted yourselves, and procrastinated, and doubted, and false hopes deceived you until the command of Allah came; and the deceiver deceived you concerning Allah."
15. So today no ransom will be accepted from you, nor from those who disbelieved. Your refuge is the Fire; it is your protector — and wretched is the destination.
16. Has the time not come for those who believe that their hearts should humble themselves to the remembrance of Allah and what has come down of the truth, and that they should not be like those who were given the Scripture before, whose term was prolonged, so their hearts hardened; and many of them are defiantly disobedient?
17. Know that Allah gives life to the earth after its death; We have certainly made clear to you the signs, so that you may understand.
18. Indeed, the charitable men and charitable women, and those who lend Allah a goodly loan — it will be multiplied for them, and for them is a noble reward.
19. And those who believe in Allah and His messengers — it is they who are the truthful and the witnesses with their Lord; they shall have their reward and their light. But those who disbelieve and deny Our signs — it is they who are the companions of Hellfire.
20. Know that the life of this world is only play and amusement, adornment, boasting among yourselves, and competition in wealth and children — like the example of rain whose resulting plant growth pleases the tillers; then it dries, and you see it turning yellow; then it becomes debris. And in the Hereafter is severe punishment, and forgiveness from Allah and approval; and the life of this world is nothing but the enjoyment of delusion.
21. Race toward forgiveness from your Lord, and a Paradise whose width is like the width of the heaven and the earth, prepared for those who believe in Allah and His messengers. That is the bounty of Allah, which He gives to whom He wills; and Allah is the Possessor of great bounty.
22. No calamity befalls on earth or in yourselves except that it is in a Book before We bring it into being; indeed, that is easy for Allah.
23. So that you may not grieve over what has escaped you, nor exult over what He has given you; and Allah does not love every self-conceited boaster.
24. Those who are stingy and enjoin upon people stinginess. And whoever turns away — then indeed, Allah is the Self-Sufficient, the Praiseworthy.
25. Certainly, We sent Our messengers with clear proofs, and We sent down with them the Scripture and the Balance, so that people may uphold justice. And We sent down iron — in it is great strength and benefits for people — and so that Allah may know who supports Him and His messengers in the unseen. Truly, Allah is Powerful, Almighty.
26. And certainly, We sent Noah and Abraham, and We placed among their descendants prophethood and the Scripture; among them is one who is rightly guided, but many of them are defiantly disobedient.
27. Then We caused Our messengers to follow in their footsteps, and We caused Jesus, son of Mary, to follow, and We gave him the Gospel. And We placed in the hearts of those who followed him compassion and mercy, and monasticism which they innovated — We did not prescribe it for them — only seeking Allah's pleasure; yet they did not observe it with due observance. So We gave those among them who believed their reward, but many of them are defiantly disobedient.
28. O you who believe, fear Allah and believe in His Messenger; He will grant you a double portion of His mercy, and make for you a light by which you will walk, and forgive you. And Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
29. So that the People of the Scripture may know that they have no power over anything of Allah's bounty, and that bounty is in Allah's Hand; He grants it to whom He wills. And Allah is the Possessor of great bounty.
