In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

1. When the Event occurs.

2. There is no denying its occurrence.

3. Bringing low, raising high.

4. When the earth is shaken with a violent shaking.

5. And the mountains are crushed to powder.

6. Becoming scattered dust.

7. And you become three categories.

8. Then the companions of the right — what are the companions of the right?

9. And the companions of the left — what are the companions of the left?

10. And the foremost — foremost are they!

11. Those are the ones brought near.

12. In Gardens of bliss.

13. A multitude from the former peoples.

14. And a few from the later ones.

15. Upon couches intricately woven.

16. Reclining upon them, facing one another.

17. Immortal youths circulate among them.

18. With goblets, pitchers, and a cup from a flowing spring.

19. From which they experience neither headache nor intoxication.

20. And fruits of what they select.

21. And the meat of birds from whatever they desire.

22. And fair ones with large, beautiful eyes.

23. Like hidden pearls.

24. A reward for what they used to do.

25. They hear therein neither vain speech nor sinful talk.

26. Only the saying: "Peace, peace."

27. And the companions of the right — what are the companions of the right?

28. Among thornless lote trees.

29. And clustered banana trees.

30. And extended shade.

31. And flowing water.

32. And abundant fruit.

33. Neither limited nor forbidden.

34. And raised couches.

35. Indeed, We have created them with a special creation.

36. And made them virgins.

37. Loving, equal in age.

38. For the companions of the right.

39. A multitude from the former peoples.

40. And a multitude from the later ones.

41. And the companions of the left — what are the companions of the left?

42. In scorching wind and boiling water.

43. And shade of black smoke.

44. Neither cool nor pleasant.

45. Indeed, before that they were indulging in luxury.

46. And persisted in the great violation.

47. And used to say, "When we have died and become dust and bones, will we indeed be resurrected?

48. And our forefathers as well?"

49. Say, "Indeed, the former and the later peoples.

50. Will surely be gathered for the appointment of a known Day."

51. Then indeed you, O you who have gone astray and denied.

52. Will surely eat from trees of Zaqqum.

53. And fill your bellies with it.

54. Then drink upon it boiling water.

55. Drinking as thirsty camels drink.

56. This is their hospitality on the Day of Judgment.

57. We created you; why then do you not believe?

58. Have you considered what you emit?

59. Is it you who create it, or are We the Creators?

60. We have decreed death among you, and We are not to be outdone.

61. In replacing you with others like yourselves, and bringing you forth in forms you do not know.

62. And certainly you have known the first creation; why then do you not reflect?

63. Have you considered what you sow?

64. Is it you who cause it to grow, or are We the Growers?

65. If We willed, We could surely make it dry debris, and you would remain lamenting.

66. "Truly, we are liable.

67. Rather, we are utterly deprived."

68. Have you considered the water that you drink?

69. Is it you who send it down from the clouds, or are We the Senders?

70. If We willed, We could make it bitter; why then do you not give thanks?

71. Have you considered the fire that you kindle?

72. Is it you who produced its tree, or are We the Producers?

73. We have made it a reminder and a provision for travelers.

74. So glorify the name of your Lord, the Most Great.

75. Then no! I swear by the positions of the stars.

76. And truly, it is an oath — if you only knew — most great.

77. Truly, it is a noble Quran.

78. In a protected Book.

79. None touch it except the purified.

80. A revelation from the Lord of the worlds.

81. Is it this discourse that you take lightly?

82. And you make your provision that you deny?

83. Then why, when it reaches the throat?

84. And you at that moment are looking on.

85. And We are nearer to him than you, but you do not perceive.

86. Then why, if you are not to be recompensed.

87. Do you not bring it back, if you are truthful?

88. Then, if he is among those brought near.

89. For him is refreshment, fragrance, and a Garden of bliss.

90. And if he is among the companions of the right.

91. Then peace be upon you from the companions of the right.

92. But if he is among the deniers, the astray.

93. Then for him is hospitality of scalding water.

94. And burning in Hellfire.

95. This is indeed the certain truth.

96. So glorify the name of your Lord, the Most Great.
