In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
1. Ha. Meem.
2. The revelation of the Book is from Allah, the Almighty, the Wise.
3. Certainly, in the heavens and the earth are signs for the believers.
4. And in your creation, and what He disperses of living creatures, are signs for a people who are certain.
5. And in the alternation of night and day, and in what Allah sends down from the sky of provision, giving life thereby to the earth after its death, and in the directing of the winds, are signs for a people who reason.
6. These are the verses of Allah, which We recite to you in truth; then in what discourse after Allah and His verses will they believe?
7. Woe to every sinful liar.
8. Who hears the verses of Allah recited to him, then persists arrogantly as if he had not heard them; so give him tidings of a painful punishment.
9. And when he learns something of Our verses, he takes them in mockery; for those there is a humiliating punishment.
10. Behind them is Hell; and what they have earned will not avail them at all, nor what they have taken as protectors besides Allah; and for them is a great punishment.
11. This is guidance; and those who disbelieve in the verses of their Lord — for them is a punishment of painful torment.
12. Allah is the One Who subjected to you the sea, so that ships may sail in it by His command, and that you may seek of His bounty, and perhaps you will be grateful.
13. And He subjected to you whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth — all from Him; certainly, in that are signs for a people who reflect.
14. Say to those who believe to forgive those who do not hope for the days of Allah, that He may recompense a people for what they used to earn.
15. Whoever does righteousness — it is for his own soul; and whoever does evil — it is against it; then to your Lord you will be returned.
16. And certainly, We gave the Children of Israel the Book, judgment, and prophethood, and provided them with good things, and favored them above all peoples.
17. And We gave them clear proofs of the matter; yet they did not differ except after knowledge had come to them, out of rivalry among themselves. Certainly, your Lord will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning that over which they used to differ.
18. Then We placed you upon a clear way of the matter; so follow it, and do not follow the desires of those who do not know.
19. Surely, they will not avail you against Allah at all; and indeed, the wrongdoers are allies of one another; and Allah is the ally of those mindful of Him.
20. This is clear insight for humankind, and guidance and mercy for a people who are certain.
21. Or do those who commit evil deeds suppose that We will make them equal to those who believe and do righteous deeds — alike in their life and their death? Evil is what they judge.
22. And Allah created the heavens and the earth in truth, so that every soul may be recompensed for what it has earned; and they will not be wronged.
23. Have you seen the one who takes his own desire as his god, whom Allah has led astray upon knowledge, and sealed his hearing and his heart, and placed over his sight a veil? Then who will guide him after Allah? Will you not then remember?
24. And they say, "There is nothing but our worldly life; we die and we live, and nothing destroys us except time." But they have no knowledge of that; they do nothing but conjecture.
25. And when Our clear verses are recited to them, their only argument is to say, "Bring back our forefathers, if you are truthful."
26. Say, "Allah gives you life, then causes you to die, then He will gather you to the Day of Resurrection, about which there is no doubt; but most people do not know."
27. And to Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth; and the Day the Hour arises — on that Day, those who follow falsehood will lose.
28. And you will see every nation kneeling; every nation will be called to its record: "Today you will be recompensed for what you used to do."
29. This is Our record, speaking against you in truth; indeed, We used to transcribe whatever you used to do.
30. Then as for those who believed and did righteous deeds, their Lord will admit them into His mercy; that is the clear triumph.
31. But as for those who disbelieved: "Were not My verses recited to you, yet you acted arrogantly and were a criminal people?"
32. And when it was said, "Allah's promise is true, and the Hour — there is no doubt about it," you said, "We do not know what the Hour is; we only suppose conjecture, and we are not convinced."
33. And the evil consequences of what they did will appear to them, and they will be encompassed by what they used to mock.
34. And it will be said, "Today We forget you, just as you forgot the meeting of this Day of yours; and your refuge is the Fire, and you will have no helpers."
35. That is because you took the verses of Allah in mockery, and the worldly life deceived you. So today they will not be removed from it, nor will they be allowed to seek appeasement.
36. Then to Allah belongs all praise — Lord of the heavens and Lord of the earth, Lord of all the worlds.
37. And to Him belongs all majesty in the heavens and the earth; and He is the Almighty, the Wise.
