In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
1. Ha. Meem.
2. By the clear Book.
3. Truly, We have made it an Arabic Quran, that you may understand.
4. And indeed, it is in the Source of the Book with Us — exalted, wise.
5. Shall We then turn away the Reminder from you, since you are a transgressing people?
6. And how many a prophet did We send among the earlier peoples.
7. Yet no prophet came to them except that they mocked him.
8. So We destroyed those mightier than these in power; and the precedent of the earlier peoples has passed away.
9. And if you ask them, "Who created the heavens and the earth?" they will surely say, "The Almighty, the All-Knowing created them."
10. He Who made the earth a cradle for you, and made pathways for you in it, that you may be guided.
11. And Who sends down water from the sky in due measure, and thereby We revive a dead land — thus shall you be brought forth.
12. And Who created all pairs, and made for you ships and livestock upon which you ride.
13. That you may settle firmly upon their backs, then remember the favor of your Lord when you have settled upon them, and say, "Glory be to Him Who has subjected this to us, for we could never have subdued it.
14. And surely, to our Lord we shall return."
15. Yet they attribute to Him a portion from among His servants; surely, the human being is clearly ungrateful.
16. Or has He taken daughters from what He creates, and chosen sons for you?
17. And when one of them is given glad tidings of what he attributes to the Most Merciful, his face darkens, and he suppresses grief.
18. Is one who is brought up amid ornaments, and who is unclear in dispute?
19. And they have made the angels — who are servants of the Most Merciful — females. Did they witness their creation? Their testimony will be recorded, and they will be questioned.
20. And they say, "Had the Most Merciful willed, we would not have worshiped them." They have no knowledge of that; they do nothing but conjecture.
21. Or have We given them a Book before this, to which they hold fast?
22. Rather, they say, "We found our fathers upon a tradition, and we are guided by their footsteps."
23. And similarly, We never sent a warner before you to any town, except that its affluent ones said, "We found our fathers upon a tradition, and we are following their footsteps."
24. He said, "Even if I bring you guidance better than that upon which you found your fathers?" They said, "Surely, we reject that with which you have been sent."
25. So We took retribution upon them; then see how was the end of those who denied.
26. And when Abraham said to his father and his people, "I am disassociated from what you worship.
27. Except for Him Who originated me; for surely He will guide me."
28. And he made it a lasting word among his descendants, so that they might return.
29. Rather, I granted enjoyment to these and their forefathers until the truth came to them, and a clear Messenger.
30. But when the truth came to them, they said, "This is magic, and we are disbelievers in it."
31. And they said, "Why was this Quran not sent down upon a great man from one of the two cities?"
32. Is it they who distribute the mercy of your Lord? It is We Who have apportioned among them their livelihood in the life of this world, and raised some of them above others in degrees, so that some may take others in service; and the mercy of your Lord is better than what they accumulate.
33. And were it not that humankind would become one community, We would have made for those who disbelieve in the Most Merciful roofs of silver for their houses, and stairways upon which they ascend.
34. And doors for their houses, and couches upon which they recline.
35. And ornaments; yet all of that is but enjoyment of the life of this world; and the Hereafter with your Lord is for the reverent.
36. And whoever turns away from remembrance of the Most Merciful, We appoint for him a devil, who becomes his companion.
37. And indeed, they hinder them from the path, yet they think that they are rightly guided.
38. Until, when he comes to Us, he says, "Oh, would that between me and you were the distance of the two easts — what an evil companion!"
39. And it will not benefit you this Day, since you did wrong, that you are sharing in the punishment.
40. Can you then make the deaf hear, or guide the blind, or one who is clearly astray?
41. And whether We take you away, indeed We shall take vengeance upon them.
42. Or We show you that which We have promised them; for surely, We have full power over them.
43. So hold firmly to that which has been revealed to you; certainly, you are upon a straight path.
44. And surely, it is a reminder for you and your people, and you will be questioned.
45. And ask those of Our messengers whom We sent before you: Did We appoint besides the Most Merciful gods to be worshiped?
46. And certainly We sent Moses with Our signs to Pharaoh and his chiefs, and he said, "I am the Messenger of the Lord of the worlds."
47. But when he brought them Our signs, behold, they laughed at them.
48. And We did not show them any sign except that it was greater than its predecessor; and We seized them with punishment, so that they might return.
49. And they said, "O magician, invoke your Lord for us by what He has promised you; indeed, we will then be guided."
50. But when We removed from them the punishment, behold, they broke their word.
51. And Pharaoh proclaimed among his people, saying, "O my people, is not the kingdom of Egypt mine, and these rivers flowing beneath me? Do you not then see?
52. Or am I not better than this one who is insignificant and can hardly express himself clearly?
53. Then why have bracelets of gold not been placed upon him, or angels come accompanying him?"
54. Thus he belittled his people, and they obeyed him; indeed, they were a defiantly disobedient people.
55. So when they angered Us, We took vengeance upon them, and We drowned them all.
56. Thus We made them a precedent and an example for later generations.
57. And when the son of Mary was presented as an example, behold, your people turned away from it.
58. And they said, "Are our gods better, or is he?" They did not present it to you except for argument; rather, they are a contentious people.
59. He was but a servant upon whom We bestowed favor, and We made him an example for the Children of Israel.
60. And if We willed, We could have made from among you angels succeeding one another on earth.
61. And he is surely knowledge of the Hour; so do not doubt it, and follow Me — this is a straight path.
62. And let not Satan divert you; indeed, he is to you a clear enemy.
63. And when Jesus came with clear proofs, he said, "I have come to you with wisdom, and to clarify for you some of that over which you differ; so fear Allah and obey me.
64. Truly, Allah is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him — this is a straight path."
65. But the factions differed among themselves; so woe to those who did wrong from the punishment of a painful Day.
66. Are they awaiting anything except the Hour, that it should come upon them suddenly while they perceive not?
67. Close friends on that Day will be enemies to one another, except for the righteous.
68. "O My servants, no fear will be upon you this Day, nor will you grieve.
69. Those who believed in Our verses and who were Muslims.
70. Enter Paradise, you and your spouses, rejoicing."
71. Circulated among them will be plates and cups of gold; and therein is whatever the souls desire and the eyes delight in — and you will abide therein eternally.
72. And that is the Paradise which you are made to inherit for what you used to do.
73. For you therein is abundant fruit from which you will eat.
74. Indeed, the criminals will abide eternally in the punishment of Hell.
75. It will not be lightened for them, and therein they will despair.
76. And We did not wrong them, but it was they who were the wrongdoers.
77. And they will call out, "O Malik, let your Lord finish us!" He will say, "Surely, you will remain."
78. Certainly, We brought you the truth, but most of you were averse to the truth.
79. Or have they devised a plan? Then indeed, We too are devising.
80. Or do they think that We hear not their secrets and their private conversations? Yes indeed, and Our messengers are with them, recording.
81. Say, "If the Most Merciful had a son, then I would be the first of worshipers."
82. Exalted is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Lord of the Throne, above what they describe.
83. So leave them to indulge and play until they meet their Day which they are promised.
84. And it is He Who is Allah in the heaven and Allah on the earth; and He is the Wise, the Knowing.
85. And blessed is He to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them; and with Him is knowledge of the Hour, and to Him you will be returned.
86. And those whom they invoke besides Him possess no power of intercession, except those who testify to the truth while having full knowledge.
87. And if you ask them who created them, they will surely say, "Allah." Then how are they deluded?
88. And his saying, "O my Lord, indeed these are a people who do not believe."
89. So turn away from them and say, "Peace." But soon they will know.
