In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
1. Saad. By the Quran possessing the Reminder.
2. But those who disbelieve are in pride and dissension.
3. How many a generation before them have We destroyed; they cried out, but it was no longer a time for escape.
4. And they wonder that a warner has come to them from among themselves; and the disbelievers say, "This is a magician, a liar."
5. "Has he made the gods into one God? Truly, this is an astonishing thing."
6. And the leaders among them went forth, saying, "Walk and be steadfast regarding your gods; surely, this is something intended.
7. We have not heard of this in the last religion; this is nothing but a fabrication.
8. Has the Reminder been sent down upon him from among us?" Rather, they are in doubt concerning My Reminder; rather, they have not yet tasted My punishment.
9. Or do they possess the treasures of the mercy of your Lord, the Almighty, the Bestower?
10. Or do they have dominion over the heavens and the earth and all that is between them? Then let them ascend through the means.
11. There, a host among the factions will surely be defeated.
12. Before them, the people of Noah denied, and Aad, and Pharaoh of the stakes.
13. And Thamud, and the people of Lot, and the companions of the thicket — those were the factions.
14. Each one did nothing but deny the messengers; thus punishment became justified.
15. And these await nothing but a single blast, which will have no respite.
16. And they say, "Our Lord, hasten for us our share before the Day of Reckoning."
17. Be patient over what they say, and remember Our servant David, the possessor of strength; truly, he was ever-turning.
18. Truly, We subjected the mountains to glorify with him in the evening and at sunrise.
19. And the birds assembled — all were repeatedly turning to Him.
20. And We strengthened his kingdom, and gave him wisdom and decisiveness in speech.
21. And has the news of the disputants reached you, when they climbed over the wall into the prayer chamber?
22. When they entered upon David, and he was alarmed by them; they said, "Do not fear. We are two disputants; one of us has wronged the other, so judge between us with truth, and do not go beyond the bounds, and guide us to the right path.
23. Indeed, this is my brother; he has ninety-nine ewes, and I have one ewe. Yet he said, 'Entrust her to me,' and he overpowered me in speech."
24. He said, "Certainly, he has wronged you by asking for your ewe to add to his ewes; and indeed, many partners wrong one another, except those who believe and do righteous deeds — but few are they!" And David realized that We had tested him; so he sought forgiveness from his Lord, and fell down bowing, and turned in repentance.
25. So We forgave him that; and indeed, for him with Us is nearness and a goodly place of return.
26. "O David, surely We have made you a successor on earth; so judge between the people with truth, and do not follow desire, lest it lead you astray from the way of Allah. Surely, those who stray from the way of Allah — for them is a severe punishment, because they forgot the Day of Reckoning."
27. And We did not create the heaven and the earth and what is between them in vain; that is the assumption of those who disbelieve. So woe to those who disbelieve, from the Fire.
28. Or shall We treat those who believe and do righteous deeds like the corruptors on earth? Or shall We treat the reverent like the wicked?
29. A blessed Book which We have sent down to you, that they may reflect upon its verses, and that those of understanding may take heed.
30. And We granted David Solomon; an excellent servant — truly, he was ever turning back to Allah.
31. When swift-footed, noble horses were presented to him in the evening.
32. He said, "Truly, I have loved the love of good things above the remembrance of my Lord," until it disappeared behind the veil.
33. "Bring them back to me." Then he began passing his hand over their legs and necks.
34. And certainly, We tested Solomon and placed upon his throne a body; then he turned back in repentance.
35. He said, "My Lord, forgive me, and grant me a kingdom that will not belong to anyone after me; truly, You are the Bestower."
36. So We subjected to him the wind, gently flowing by his command wherever he directed.
37. And the devils — every builder and diver.
38. And others bound together in chains.
39. "This is Our gift; so give freely or withhold without reckoning."
40. And certainly, for him with Us is nearness and a beautiful place of return.
41. And remember Our servant Job, when he called upon his Lord, "Surely, Satan has afflicted me with hardship and torment."
42. "Strike with your foot; this is a cool bath and drink."
43. And We restored to him his family, and the like thereof along with them — as a mercy from Us, and a reminder for those of understanding.
44. "And take in your hand a bundle, and strike with it, and do not break your oath." Truly, We found him patient; an excellent servant — surely, he was ever turning back to Allah.
45. And remember Our servants Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob — possessors of strength and insight.
46. Indeed, We distinguished them by a pure trait — remembrance of the Abode.
47. And indeed, they are with Us among the chosen, the excellent.
48. And remember Ishmael, Elisha, and Dhul-Kifl; each was among the excellent.
49. This is a reminder; and certainly, for the reverent is a beautiful place of return.
50. Gardens of eternity, whose gates are opened for them.
51. Reclining therein, calling therein for abundant fruit and drink.
52. And with them are companions of modest gaze, equal in age.
53. This is what you are promised for the Day of Reckoning.
54. Certainly, this is Our provision; it will never be exhausted.
55. This; and certainly, for the transgressors is the worst place of return.
56. Hell — they will enter it; and wretched is the resting place.
57. This — so let them taste it — is scalding water and foul discharge.
58. And others of similar kind, in pairs.
59. "This is a group rushing headlong with you; no welcome for them — surely, they will burn in the Fire."
60. They will say, "Rather, no welcome for you; you brought this upon us — so wretched is the settlement."
61. They will say, "Our Lord, whoever brought this upon us, increase for him a double punishment in the Fire."
62. And they will say, "Why do we not see men whom we used to count among the wicked?
63. Did we take them in ridicule, or have our eyes turned away from them?"
64. Surely, this is the reality — the quarreling of the people of the Fire.
65. Say, "I am only a warner; and there is no god except Allah, the One, the Prevailing.
66. Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them, the Almighty, the All-Forgiving."
67. Say, "It is great news.
68. You turn away from it.
69. I had no knowledge of the Highest Assembly when they disputed.
70. It is only revealed to me that I am a clear warner."
71. When your Lord said to the angels, "I am creating a human being from clay.
72. So when I have formed him and breathed into him of My spirit, then fall down before him prostrating."
73. So the angels prostrated, all of them together.
74. Except Iblis; he was arrogant and was among the disbelievers.
75. He said, "O Iblis, what prevented you from prostrating to that which I created with My hands? Were you arrogant, or were you among the exalted?"
76. He said, "I am better than him; You created me from fire, and You created him from clay."
77. He said, "Then get out of it, for indeed, you are accursed.
78. And certainly, upon you is My curse until the Day of Judgment."
79. He said, "My Lord, then grant me respite until the Day they are resurrected."
80. He said, "Then surely, you are among those granted respite.
81. Until the Day of the appointed time."
82. He said, "Then by Your might, I will surely mislead them all.
83. Except Your sincere servants among them."
84. He said, "So the truth, and the truth I say.
85. I will definitely fill Hell with you and with those among them who follow you, all together."
86. Say, "I do not ask you for any reward for it, nor am I among those who pretend.
87. It is only a reminder for the worlds.
88. And you will certainly know its news after a time."
