In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

1. Alif. Lam. Meem.

2. These are the Verses of the Wise Book.

3. A guidance and mercy for those who do good.

4. Those who establish prayer and give charity, and who, of the Hereafter, are certain.

5. It is they who are upon guidance from their Lord; and it is they who are the successful.

6. And among the people is one who purchases idle talk to mislead from the way of Allah without knowledge, and He takes it in mockery; for them is a humiliating punishment.

7. And when Our Verses are recited to him, he turns away arrogantly, as if he had not heard them, as if there were deafness in his ears; so give him tidings of a painful punishment.

8. Surely those who believe and do righteous deeds — for them are Gardens of bliss.

9. Abiding therein forever; the promise of Allah is true — and He is the Almighty, the Wise.

10. He created the heavens without pillars that you see, and cast into the earth firm mountains lest it should sway with you, and dispersed therein every kind of creature; and We sent down water from the sky, and caused to grow therein every noble kind.

11. This is the creation of Allah; so show Me what those besides Him have created. Rather, the wrongdoers are in clear error.

12. And certainly We gave Luqman wisdom: "Be grateful to Allah." And whoever is grateful, he is grateful only for himself; and whoever denies — then surely Allah is Self-Sufficient, Praiseworthy.

13. And when Luqman said to his son, while advising him, "O my son, do not associate partners with Allah; indeed, associating partners is surely a great injustice."

14. And We have enjoined upon the human being concerning his parents — his mother carried him, weakness upon weakness, and his weaning is in two years — "Be grateful to Me and to your parents; to Me is the final destination."

15. And if they strive to make you associate with Me that of which you have no knowledge, do not obey them; yet accompany them kindly in this world, and follow the way of him who turns to Me. Then to Me is your return, and I will inform you of what you used to do.

16. "O my son, indeed, if it should be the weight of a mustard seed, and should it be within a rock, or in the heavens, or in the earth, Allah will bring it forth; indeed, Allah is Subtle, All-Aware."

17. O my son, establish prayer, enjoin what is right, forbid what is wrong, and be patient over whatever befalls you; surely, that is among matters requiring determination.

18. And do not turn your cheek away from people in contempt, nor walk upon the earth arrogantly; surely, Allah does not love every self-conceited boaster.

19. And be moderate in your pace, and lower your voice; indeed, the most repugnant of voices is the voice of donkeys.

20. Do you not see that Allah has subjected to you whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth, and has amply bestowed upon you His favors, both apparent and hidden? Yet among the people is one who disputes concerning Allah without knowledge, nor guidance, nor an illuminating Book.

21. And when it is said to them, "Follow what Allah has revealed," they say, "Rather, we follow what we found our fathers upon." Even if Satan were inviting them to the punishment of the Blaze?

22. And whoever submits his face to Allah while being a doer of good has indeed grasped the firmest handhold; and to Allah is the outcome of all matters.

23. And whoever disbelieves, let not his disbelief grieve you; to Us is their return, and We will inform them of what they did. Surely, Allah is Knowing of what is within the breasts.

24. We grant them enjoyment for a little while; then We will compel them to a severe punishment.

25. And if you ask them, "Who created the heavens and the earth?" they will surely say, "Allah." Say, "Praise be to Allah." Yet most of them do not know.

26. To Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and the earth; surely, Allah is the Self-Sufficient, the Praiseworthy.

27. And if all the trees on earth were pens, and the sea — replenished thereafter by seven seas — then the words of Allah would not be exhausted. Surely, Allah is Mighty, Wise.

28. Your creation and your resurrection are but as a single soul. Truly, Allah is Hearing, Seeing.

29. Do you not see that Allah causes the night to enter into the day, and causes the day to enter into the night, and has subjected the sun and the moon — each running to an appointed term — and that Allah is fully aware of what you do?

30. That is because Allah — He is the Truth, and that which they invoke besides Him is falsehood, and because Allah — He is the Most High, the Great.

31. Do you not see that the ships sail on the sea by the favor of Allah, that He may show you some of His signs? Certainly, in that are signs for every patient, grateful one.

32. And when waves cover them like canopies, they call upon Allah, sincere to Him in religion; but when He delivers them safely to land, among them are those who remain moderate. And none reject Our signs except every treacherous, ungrateful one.

33. O humankind, fear your Lord, and dread a Day when no parent will avail his child, nor will a child avail his parent in anything. Truly, the promise of Allah is true; so let not the life of this world deceive you, nor let the deceiver deceive you concerning Allah.

34. Surely, with Allah is knowledge of the Hour; and He sends down the rain, and He knows what is in the wombs. And no soul knows what it will earn tomorrow, nor does any soul know in which land it will die. Certainly, Allah is Knowing, Aware.
